The coolest thing is that after you mentioned the name of the village I typed it into google maps and checked out the satellite image. And it took me only 3 seconds to see where Allessio's Mama is living. The house with the mosaic is really standing out. So he literally grew up at the very foot of the alps. Right at the end of the garden they start.

Thank you for this. It is fascinating for me. My Italian Great Grandfather's Ancestry was from Milano via Sicily. He immigrated to America in early 1870s. He purchased his ranch in my community on August 23, 1880 which I've now inherited. I'm now the 4th generation owner. The one story passed down to me was he always insisted that Raviolis be served for every Christmas Eve dinner. I continued on with that tradition this past Christmas. The 143rd year doing that in my community. I also have the family ragu recipe and methodology. I'm glad to see her use Carrots and Celery. Our secret ingredient is plenty of Nutmeg, which I have a sneaky feeling is her's too 😊

There are lots of people in Switzerland, France and Italy who use wood-burning stoves to heat their house. The modern stoves are very efficient and some can be used to heat water which is then used to heat existing radiators by being plumbed into the central heating system. So not old-fashioned at all,but very ecological!

Wood burning stoves are very popular especially amongst people who convert their older houses back to their original and expose the fire places. They give out great heat and create a very cosy atmosphere. However, they are not good for the environment. They emit CO2!!😢😢

I'm Irish and in my early 40s. In my early childhood we had a Parkray fire, which was a fire built into the wall with a door and a glass window run on coal or anthracite. It used to heat the water and so in turn the radiators. Sometimes it would get so hot that the radiators would start to bang and we'd have to turn on the hot water tap to cool the rads down. I was too young to get the coal from the bunker in the back garden but I did rake it out the following morning and clean the glass. In summer we obviously wouldn't light a fire but we had an immersion to heat the water. A real fire is so comforting though.

Exactly! We're being scolded not to burn wood, don't use gasoline, but to purchase EV that costs outrageous PLUS 5-15K to replace a battery that is the MOST UN-RECYCLABLE thing!! It's nonsense. Do your part to recycle, and then 91% of plastics aren't even recycled. If the wealthy, jet-flying, multiple homes people lecturing us from Davos actually cared, plastics would not be everywhere including the oceans. You and I are doing our part, these elites are NOT. They don't like us having a small life with a little woodstove which is actually heating places like Alessio's mom's entire home. GLASS is 100% recyclable and our foods need to come in glass vs. plastic.

Just came across your video as I search places to be this summer in Tuscany. My husband has traveled in Italy many times before we got married 4 years ago ( we’re in our 60’’s). Ever since, he has taken me every year on our anniversary. I fell in love with the people and the culture! Thank you for sharing your family. It warmed my heart ❤

I am so confused ! When i read Northern Italy, Tuscany doesn't automatically come to mind. I think the industrial north, Milan, Torino, Como. Are they in N Italy or Florence ?? Or is Toscana actually considered "North" ? Thank you

@@avalerie4467I am Italian and I can tell you that Tuscany is considered geographically "central Italy" like the regions of Marche, Umbria, Lazio, then below these are the southern regions

@@giansala7409 grazie. Couldn't figure out why people were referencing Toscana when i thought we were in N Italy. Good to know i didn't have my compass wrong.

Beautiful video. So comforting, like I'm home there with you. I love Alessio's mom, the wood stove (the best heat!), his grandmother and her star cat, the chores of being home, the specialty stores, the sound of small town life, and of course, his grandfather and his astonishingly beautiful mosaic art. To be surrounded by all of that everyday is the most wonderful way to live. Why do his grandfather and grandmother live apart, I wonder (none of my business)? And I cannot wait to follow your journey to meet his brother and father. Where do they live? What do they do? What's the family dynamic like? Inquiring minds want to know! 😊 One of your most bellissimo videos!

Disregard the signs and the omens. When in Rome do as the Romans do! Fantastic. I never had the experience of working with my nonno. I love this. So many stone masons in NY metro from Italy. They made the entire lower Hudson Valley walls and other stonework from the granite Palisades. So much history, so much skill, so much love.

I love this video. It’s a slice of real family life in Italy. Just the sounds are so peaceful where they live. How blessed he is to have his Nonno. I love the fire. My brother built his own beautiful home in Tennessee and heats with a wood fire like this. It’s so cozy and no high heat bill. His Nonno is a true Artisan. Still having both his Nonna and Nonno is beautiful. Love this so much. Thank you ❤

Hi Alessio and Jessi, that stone wall was really amazingly beautiful and so much detail. I have never put Celery and Carrots in Lasagna but will have to try it. All of the dishes looked really tasty. Have to say that the Celery looked really fresh and Green with so many leaves on the top. In the USA you can hardly ever get that nice of Celery in the Super Market. Glad that you showed the individual shops that you can buy specific things in his hometown. Usually the food you get in those shops are much better than the normal Grocery store Meats and Produce. Really enjoyed the vide as it is always interesting to see how people live in different parts of the world.

The celery and carrots are not part of Lasagna specifically, but they're ingredients that make the soffritto (sautéed?) in which you will cook the ragù meat. My mom does it too, I just don't care if the soffritto is just onions or the full onion-celery-carrots trio... 😅

I'm going to have to look through the Mardi Gras coins that my grandparents have. My grandfather was the head of Bacchus in the 70s and 80s, and probably has some of those coins. That's incredible! His work is stunningly beautiful, and so unique as it evolves. Edit to add that the rooster was really excited that you guys met. Great hype guy.
