Water is the worst thing to drink with hot food! 🤣🌶️ I was typing this is I was watching and I’m glad he came over and told you that it shouldn’t be water. Part of me is jealous and part of me is incredibly grateful that it wasn’t me!!! 🥵

Nashville hot is less about spice level than it is about the combination of flavors. The heat is pretty similar to most other spicy chicken but with the smokey cayenne and paprika it offers a nice other layer of flavor that makes it stand apart from buffalo wings or other hot chicken. Some places also do it with fish which can be beautiful.
@faolnagael75915 ай бұрын
Nashville Hot Chicken is amazing, but go to one of the OGs like Hattie Bs or Prince's. I've done Prince's and the flavor is absolutely amazing. Other places that say they serve NHC aren't really even close to the real deal.

Yes, definitely eat some vanilla ice cream (as vanilla bean as possible) to help with the hot, spiciness. Cool milk is also much better to drink then water. Also Jessi, carry with you some creamy mints: If Alessio’s taste buds and sinus cavity anything similar to mine (which they appear to be - for me especially any Far East Asian spicy cuisine), creamy mints can act as a needed first aide for those taste buds, nasal passages and sinus cavity.

Just remember that as you adjust to the burn, other flavors come through and they are good. It would have been better to start off slowly over a long period of trying different foods and slowly build up a tolerance to the heat. When I was a child, my Italian grandfather would put pepperoncino in the Sunday pasta sauce and I would cry because it burned. Today, I love to eat any number of spicy foods, mostly of the Asian variety. I use a ghost pepper sauce on my scrambled eggs, really enjoy kimchee as a condiment, and make my own spicy Thai peanut sauce. It is possible it to experience the burn on the way out too, but I'm used to that!! Chuck in Northern New England

Loved watching your reactions! I’ve never had Nashville hot chicken. But we bought the Hot Ones (KZbin channel) hot sauces from their last season & ate them all on wings like they do, from mildest to hottest, 10 sauces. A few things I took away from that. When you talk right away after taking a bite, it gets so much hotter. The air moves it around your mouth & down your throat like Alessio said. We made food to eat in between bites to help take away the heat & what helped 100% was grilled zucchini. Better than potatoes or anything else we tried.
@erics6075 ай бұрын
Eating "shut the cluck up" reminds me of eating the 3rd hottest sauce on the menu at Buffalo Wild Wings called mango habanero. I have eaten the top 2 hottest sauces on their menu, and it wasn't fun. With the mango habanero sauce, I ate one wing and decided....."this tastes amazing! It's also not that hot!" After eating the first wing I immediately ate a 2nd wing because it tasted so good. It wasn't until I started eating the 3rd wing that the heat really started to kick in and I wished I wouldn't have eaten any of the wings lol. It ended up turning into a love/hate relationship. I wanted to stop eating because of how hot the sauce was, but at the same time the mango part of the sauce tasted phenomenal to the point where I wanted to continue eating the wings.

Love it! I'm glad you survived the heat. Ice cold milk and ice cream are best to soothe from all that afterburn. Totally separate subject but has Alessio ever had pepper cookies? I just on my way out to the bakery to pick up a batch.

I would get the spiciest from Zaxbys and they used to have one spicier than they do now 18 years ago, and it was like mild to me. I ate a bite of a ghost pepper like it was nothing idk why it didn’t bother me when I was pregnant lol now it would probably kill me but I enjoy spicy foods

As a Hattie B's regular customer at that same location in addition to the Melrose location, I think they might have went easy on you with that STCU tender. I have had it a few times and it was a much deeper red than that. I usually like to stick with the medium as it seems like a good balance between heat and flavor. You should try Princes (they are said to be the originators of the Nashville Hot Chicken and their spice levels are much hotter, believe it or not). Also, during hockey season, you should follow the Nashville Predators and see if anyone gets a "hat trick" during the game because you can go to Hattie B's that same day or the next day and get 3 tenders for free!!! Try the banana pudding sometime too. It is glorious. More useful tips for some of the local eats that you two are experiencing...at Edley's, try the burnt ends...so good. Also the wings at Martin's BBQ with the Alabama white sauce are divine. Jim and Nick's BBQ is good too but I prefer either Martin's or Edley's more. The turkey is good at Jim and Nick's and my wife loves the muffins there. I have not eaten at the Chuck E. Cheese location on Mallory Lane but I do need to take my youngest there sometime as he loved other ones that we have visited. Also, the Jason's Deli next door is great too. I love their salad bar or their half-soup /salad bar option. Bishop's Meat & Three next to Jason's Deli and CEC is also owned by the same owners of Hattie B's and you will see some overlap in the menu options. I enjoy your videos. Keep 'em coming. EDITED: I wanted to add that I have had the same thing happen to me when opening the sauces there. The splatter has had many casualties. EDITED AGAIN TO ADD: The first time I had Hattie B's was back in 2017 and was before my family moved to Brentwood. I waiting in the rain at a location closer to downtown Nashville for almost an hour. I ordered the STCU tender as well. I was trying to split it with my wife and the plastic knife they give you wasn't cutting it in half like I had hoped. I picked the tender up with my hands and finish pulling it apart. I ate it and all was well. Thought it had good flavor but definitely packed a punch. My eyes started to water, naturally, and then I absentmindedly wiped my eyes with my fingers that I tore apart the STCU tender apart with earlier. HOLY COW!!! The BURN was awful. I was embarrassed and the table next to me started looking at me and laughing. There was a line of people blocking the path to the bathroom. I sat there for entirely too long before I walked to the bathroom, in tears, my face beet red, sweating, and trying to make my way through the line out the door. I made it to the bathroom and washed my hands thoroughly and then ran cold water over my eyes for several minutes. It sucked!!! After it was all done, I walked back to the table to resume the rest of my meal and left Nashville with a story to tell my friends and family.

Pineapple works wonders at breaking down the capsaicin bc of the enzyme bromelain. That same enzyme is why if you eat too much fresh pineapple it can make your mouth feel 'strange' (I always joke that pineapple is the fruit that eats you back lol). It's also the reason it makes a great ingredient in marinades, it breaks down tough cuts of meat!

As a few have already mentioned, they definitely took it easy on you with the Shut the Cluck Up tender. The STCU is way darker than that. They put ghost pepper powder on it for the heat and the powder has a super deep crimson color to it. The upside for you, the tenders and boneless breasts are also not near as hot as the bone in chicken. The skin holds on to the spices and makes it even hotter. The first time I tried the Damn Hot I about exploded..its my go to option now. :)
