You are an inspiration for so many reasons. Thank you for sharing your story with such compassion. My mother didn't want us to tell people that she died of COPD because she felt ashamed. Because you and people like you share your stories, the better people will understand that if they don't have a terrible disease, it's because they are lucky, not because they are somehow more deserving of good health.

I had a friend who was HIV positive, who also had a hereditary mutation for lung cancer. All of the men in his family on his dad's side got it, and passed in their mid to late 40's. My friend had always had a super healthy lifestyle, and he liked to joke "I'm going to be the first person with HIV who doesn't die from AIDS. I think I'll take up smoking!" He passed at home, with lots of good drugs, and telling jokes right up to the end. We should all be so lucky. I miss you, Matt.

There are so many brilliant caring drs but the ones who kept giving you antibiotics and told you it's TB, etc, were not on the ball. I'm sorry this is happening but you definitely are making a positive contribution teaching us to be on the look-out and trying to improve the system. Thank you so much for sharing your story. You are so kind to be thinking of others while caring for yourself May I recommend you get a consultation at MSK- Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC. This is the best cancer institution in the world. It is so sad that if you go to 10 different doctors, you get 10 different opinions on the exact symptoms. Doctors need to immediately stop saying women or men in their 20's, 30's, or 40's cannot have cancer. Children get cancer! The doctors today have no empathy. Most patients are just an account number to them to get money from their insurance companies. I am so sorry that no doctor has cared for you the way doctors did in the 1960's and 1970's. Doctors today do not have the right to call themselves doctors. They don't know what "healing" is for patients.

Thank you for your story. I was diagnosed with stage 4 small cell lung cancer in early November and it’s pressing on my aorta. I have no health insurance so I wasn’t able to have many needed tests over the years. They told me without treatment I had 1-2 weeks to live. I took the treatments and am about to start radiation along with the chemo. I am thankful for whatever time I have because it has given me time to talk to my children and friends to say things that otherwise would’ve never been said. It also gave me time to strengthen my relationship with God. All I know to do is try to stay positive and have faith in God.

Thank you for saying those who smoke don't deserve lung cancer ❤ I was 59 and diagnosed 6/23 with metastatic lung cancer and given 3 months. The only reason it was found is because I was having balance issues (what they assumed was vertigo) and fell, breaking my femur below the hip. Which was caused by a tumor pressing on my cerebellum, along with two other spots. I have gone through chemo, cyberknife radiation x 2, chest radiation, and currently immunotherapy to prolong my life. My latest scans a couple of weeks ago a new spot showed up on my lung and my brain. We are told by God 365 times in the bible to fear not. I pray you have a full recovery and a long life ahead. 🙏

Hello everyone! Thank you so much for watching my video and for leaving such kind and sweet comments. I really appreciate your prayers and good vibes. I’m doing well, but might switch my treatment again due to some issues. Never a dull moment with cancer! 😅 To answer one of the most common questions, my lung cannot be removed because the tumor, which is 8cm now, is waaay too close to the heart. A surgery like that would require bypass and reconstruction of the atrium. Surgeons think that I would not survive something like this unfortunately. I will keep trying, though! I won’t give up. Happy New Year, everyone! :)

Thank you for this honest, happy/sad video. I'm happy that you've had some good results, but sad that you still have it. I wish you a great future. One thing I don't understand: why do the docs feel you're not a candidate for a lung removal? Seems to this total lay person that it would be a logical step to take.

Being stage 4, it has already spread and send microscopic seeds elsewhere that will eventually grow into more metastasis. So removing a lung will not cure the cancer. It will leave her with one less lung to oxygenate and ventilate, and could expose her to premature death from surgical complications or pulmonary insufficiency from only having one lung, if the remaining lung gets sick.
