It's because they don't need it. It piles on top of their already dopamine filled brain. People with ADHD don't have enough dopamine flow and Adderall fills that gap. I didn't start taking it until I was 25 because I had always heard horror stories about how it makes people into emaciated zombies. The first time I took it was the first time I felt normal and dialed into the important parts of what was going on. I wish I would have started taking it back in high school because I would have probably been much more successful in school.

I can attest to Adderall having that affect. Had a prescription to Adderall in college. Started taking them every day before fall baseball practice and was performing great (and started dipping like a can and a half a day bc it was the only way to keep my jaw from clenching up.) We finish the fall practice season with a seven game intersquad. The night before there were a few people at my house, made the mistake of leaving my bottle of addy out on my desk. Needless to say, they were all gone when I woke up to take it the next morning. I had to pitch that day so i pounded red bull and pre workout beforehand but still felt like I a was sleepwalking....worst pitching outing of my life... never filled that rx again. If that isn't a performance enhancer I don't know what is. Lol. Side not: I also ended up having to get extensive work done on my back teeth from the constant clinching and grinding.

I also know I performed better with them and could pitch further into games bc I had more energy. Having to travel from Blacksburg down to, say U of Miami, didn't affect my performance like it once did. I required less sleep...but truth is, I have an addictive personality and I abused them, I was not taking them as prescribed and would normally run out a week early...so maybe if I took them they way I was supposed to, I would think differently. 🤷

Adderall helped me out so much in class. I went from being the worst student in my class to one of the best just because my attention span was huge now. But man, the side effects were horrible. Sometimes I want to go back on it for my adult life, but the side effects keep me away

So I'm with Pat on this, but keep in mind that the NFL must place rules that are in line with the laws of the land. Some states have legalized marijuana, yes, but federally it is still illegal so there would be numerous issues if they went forward with allowing it in the NFL.
@illuminatigbeats13972 жыл бұрын
no there wouldn’t. you just would stop drug testing for it like the NBA lol if you got caught in a city that it’s illegal , you had to deal with whatever came with it. but seeing how bad the opioid crisis is, ain’t no way they could’ve continued tryna push all them pills to players without eventually seeking an alternative bc then the players would be opioid victims too like these young suburban kids

I sincerely hope you stay strong and I pray this message finds you well.

@Edward Chubbick ya I certainly didn't choose the incident but I will be honest and I do admit I chose to abuse em knowing I was over doing it. In all honesty the fear of withdrawal actually kept me using longer than I should have. There are plenty of studies now days by brilliant people that link childhood trauma or just trauma with addiction and I wish I knew that before I took that first pill because my trauma made me many more times susceptible to addiction. Watch Dr. Gabor Mate he is a godsend and his research on addiction was the best I've read. Stay strong!

It always bugged me hearing about other students in college getting a hold of Adderall who weren't prescribed it and taking it before a test. They were usually the students who never really took the class seriously or studied but thought taking Adderall would save them, then there was a handful that just took it as a enhancement before an exam.
