if you look at the cowboys season under a microscope. they had 2 wins over winning teams. lost to buffalo, miami, san fran, philly (the first game against philly and some might say the lions if it wasn't for a bad ref call). and their 5th loss was to the 4-13 cardinals. 11 of their wins were against losing teams, the 12th win was against Philly who were in a tail spin at the time. So it not like the team was some jugernaught beating really good teams this year.

One of my favorite Mike Tomlin quotes from maybe 4 years ago or so was along the lines as to players on his team, "We can't do this with hostages; we need volunteers." I've used that quote with attribution to Tomlin a bunch of times. Steelers need a QB as the defense is decent but this year was out on the field way too long/got worn out because the offense was so bad - no QB!!

In the last three games of the season our time of possession combined to be almost thirty minutes more than our opponents. And that was because the running game was working so well. Trubisky was the only bad quarterback we had. Pickett and Rudolph did well enough under the circumstances. We just need a hotshot offensive coordinator to make things work, along with a new center because Mason Cole isn’t good.

I'm a long time cowboys fan and every year hurts more than the one before. I think fans are realizing that neither Dak or McCarthy are going to be a piece of a Superbowl team. So why keep them? Were stuck with Dak and I guess there is no point replacing Mike while Dak is under center. Maybe we win a playoff game next year? Packers were the better team this year and most years before. I'm remembering 2016 when they pulled the rug out from under Romo, and that team was stacked. The boys really had a shot that year. How's it feel Dak? Mike is the coach. He’s in charge of getting the team prepared and ready for the game. The defense was not prepared for this game, didn’t make any adjustments throughout. Dallas is only a 12 win team because they beat bottom rung teams. They have wins over Rams early in the season because Rams started slow and got hot late. They won against Eagles when eagles started to falter late in season. They beat the Lions with that controversial penalty on the OL not reporting when replay show it was BS. So other than those wins the rest were woe full teams. So was Dallas good the past 3 seasons or were most of their competition really bad? I think it’s the latter. 😂

The Rams were not what they were from a few years ago, the Eagles were proven over the last 6 games to be weaker than wet toilet paper, and the refs had to cheat a win over the Lions. This is the same for most teams. Teams have losing records because they lost games. The lions were also 12-5. I'm counting 4 wins against winning teams, and 3 of them (GB, TB, NO) are 9-8. Pretty common.

It's not to say that beating three winning teams means they are bad. It just means they weren't tested as much. You are also proving our point when you point out that the Lions only beat four winning/playoff teams. Four is more than three. Take the Bills, they beat five winning/playoff teams. One of them, being the Cowboys. Then you take a look at the Chiefs, who similar to the Cowboys, only beat three winning/playoff teams. Just looking at those two teams in a bubble, you can clearly see which team is falling apart and which is not, and their records against winning teams show it. It's just a way to measure a team and how hard they had to fight through the year. The Cowboys and Chiefs were given the easiest paths to the playoffs, and it shows. The Chiefs would have been out in the first round as well if the -15 degree weather hadn't beaten the Dolphins.

As a cowboys fan I'm not trippin tbh. We had Garrett for damn near 10 years McCarthey is way better. I don't entirely blame him for this playoff exit. I think Cee Dee Lamb in particular choked in the first half and the defense as well. Also people expect instant success I don't think a winning culture is built overnight Mccarthy hasn't had any losing seasons thus far. I think they should give him a couple more years before giving him the boot. I know this is a controversial statement and I'm gonna get hate.

The biggest problem the defense had was no real linebackers and no defensive tackles. The offense needs to look at the linemen. Yeah, dak crumbled under the pressure. To me it’s all about wanting to like the pressure of being in a big game and dealing with the mental aspect of the game.

I’d rather have a losing season completely. I think the biggest problem Dallas fans have with the Dallas Cowboys players act conceded, and they are always front running. We can see right through the character that Dak Prescott plays as well.

Funny, I just made the point that keeping Mike and Dak means that next year is probably a wasted season with another early playoff exit. So that being the case if it's a wasted season why not just blow it all up, go ahead and take the pain of the cap hit for next season by cutting Dak, get better drafting positioning and get a new HC and new DC to take next year to get to work on a better team. There is enough talent on the team to find out if the Niners gave up on Trey Lance too soon so use next year to do that. Then rather than some multi year back loaded contract extension being written for Dak the team would have that dead weight off of the roster and be ready and able to look for a longer term solution at QB in 2025 that will probably cost a lot less than whatever Dak would cost them. It would mean a painful year for the team probably but when you have a cancer the treatment for it is going to be painful. Problem is the Cowboy cancer is brain cancer and it's not treatable by anything but death. By which I mean as long as Jerry is running things this is just going to be SOS DDD.

Fair points but it's about the way the plays are being called. It's about the way there's a lack of discipline and motivation in the team. It's the fact that we only have 3 plays in our offensive playbook. It's the fact that we got destroyed in the run game all year and there was no changes

I’m not pissed that we kept McCarthy. I’m pissed that we’re keeping dak. This guy hasn’t done anything except get a couple individual awards and not get us past the divisional round. As a cowboy fan I don’t blame players for being put in impossible situations. Fire the coaches. Hard to compare Reid and Big Mike, chiefs were winning 3-4 games a year before Reid. Dallas at the least competed for the division every year without Mike. But losing like that 3 years in a row is horrible

It's quite crazy, the media can be wrong over and over again, with endless terrible takes, and yet they keep their job. A coach has to win a superbowl for a fan base to want to keep him. its been 4 years of an elite team thats a lot of time to realize the team shrinks in the playoffs. This was the best roster the Cowboys have had in a decade and they got cooked in the wildcard by the 7th seed Packers. No disrespect to the Packers but the Cowboys looked like they had cte half those touchdowns the Packers got were from wide open receivers. Thats a coaching problem

I don't understand the frustration with this move... As a cowboys fan I like that we're gonna do at least one more year with McCarthy and hopefully Dak as well. I get we want better results in the playoffs, but McCarthy has gotten us there 3 years in a row. Tom Brady had a decade pass between two of his Superbowl victories and we want McCarthy gone after 4 years? There is clearly something good here, despite the loss this year, every year has looked better and better. If they can keep building on that and improving, I'm all for keeping Dak and McCarthy. Once it starts to look like a downturn is eminent, then lets talk about a new regime (and lets not act like the defense wasn't to blame for that loss, can't win many games letting up 48 pts...).

I think Jerry Jones has proven he is not that interested in a Super Bowl. He kept Garrett around too long, and McCarthy has now proven he can't motivate even a good team to perform in the playoffs.
