We also need to remember that it was Sheila Ford Hamp that hired these guys right after she took control of the team. Finally an owner who cared enough to actually want to win and put the resources out there for it. Congratulations to her as well.

I agree, I feel like a lot of other owners would take a conservative approach when it comes to hiring, but props to her for hiring Brad and Dan and letting them do what they do best. She also engages with the team and goes to practices and more so in the public eye. Previous ownership aka Martha did none of that.

Actually but ownership group has always put in tons of resources. The lions have one of the best reputation from owners perspective spending money in the NFL. Don't confuse incompetency with resources. They just didn't know what they were doing

@@josephscannell5134 disagree with you about Martha. She hired Ernie acorsi who told her to hire Matt Patricia as he was highly regarded throughout the league. She also is still involved in the organization as chairman emeritus so deserves some credit as well. She also fired mayhem and Leland in 2015

The Fords have Always cared, and they spent a TON of money trying to improve the team and organization...they just never got it right. It looks like maybe they finally did, but they've always cared and always tried...they just were incompetent. They still have a ways to go, but it's a VAST improvement in a fairly short period of time., and looks like if players can stay reasonably healthy that they should have a good core for years.

Can we talk for a minute about the impact of the Stafford trade one more time here? Because just as a direct result from the trade, the Lions got Goff, Gibbs, Jamo, LaPorta, and the _first_ of those drafts picks, all the way back in the 3rd round of the 2021 draft, Ifeatu Melifonwu. This guy has been injured for 2 and a half years, and in his two weeks on rhe field, not only has he been making some huge impact plays, but on his second game back, he makes the game clinching INT to clutch the NFC North title. I mean, that's just poetry right there. The Bobby Layne curse began to unravel the moment the Lions did right by Stafford, and ever since then it's all been snowballing into something incredible.

Three people made this happen. Not just Dan Campbell, but also Brad Holmes and don't forget Sheila Ford Hemp. Without her commitment to these two men, this doesn't happen. Brad drafted and acquired talent that Campbell needed. Campbell and his amazing staff figured out ways to make the most of that talent. This team is amazing and has done great things in 2023, but it is also built for the future. Ford Hemp, Campbell and Holmes have built a team that will be around for a while. As a 30+ year Lions fan, I watched Pittsburgh build championship teams, Dallas did it too in the '90's. And let's not forget the Patriots that have done is multiple times. As a 36-year-old life long Lions fan, I deeply appreciate this segment. The woes of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory and disproportionately frequently having obscure scenarios where rule and/or officiating gave the team tough break after tough break, it means a lot to have it acknowledged. We've had to celebrate first downs as if they were touch downs in many seasons. More importantly though, I really appreciate Pat calling out people who publicly shamed Dan Campbell two years ago for being passionate and publicly claiming he was going to build a team on a foundation of heart and toughness (as if they couldn't comprehend that biting off knee caps was a damn metaphor). Far too often people in media boastfully declare negative predictions about people but don't get held accountable when they're proven wrong. Lastly, Pat is absolutely right. Let the team enjoy the moment. Even if they don't win another game this year, they deserve to enjoy some happiness without immediately having the goalpost moved the moment they accomplish something that hasn't been done since before most the the team was even born.

I love that it’s the draft picks that are doing it for us. ASB, Sewell, Hutch, Iffy, Branch, JaMo, Gibbs, LaPorta, and others. It feels nice that the guys we brought in are also cooking- Monty, Sutton, etc.. but what has me the most excited is that the handpicked talent is getting the job done. Future light hella bright for this team

I have been a lions fan so long I remember watching them at tiger stadium . Greg Landry was the quarter back . Charlie Sanders was our tight end.Alex Karis Mike Lucci Lem Barney. I remember my dad saying maybe this year will be different when we drafted Steve Owen’s. Being excited when we drafted Billy Simms, Chuck long , remember spider man Allen coming to Detroit? We won 4 in a row and we all started singing , another one bites the dust..….. the list goes on. I had moved to Tennessee and just gotten married during the Barry Sanders years and then megatron . It just feels different this time. If we don’t win the Super Bowl this year, we will in the next season or 2. That 67 yrd field goal last year against Seattle kept us out of the playoffs. That was the end of the Bobby Lane curse.

I’ve loved Campbell since day one. This man is MCDC, he is a fighter with a heart. He shows emotion/personality, something I feel that a lot of coaches are missing. Also we can’t forget other storylines going on as well. Ben Johnson. Brad Holmes, Aaron Glenn and Jared Goff.

Ever since Hard Knocks, I find it absolutely impossible not to root for this guy and the people he surrounds himself with. Speaking as a Panthers fan lost in the wilderness, most of us would crawl over broken glass to find someone like Dan Campbell to build this kind of team culture. Hell, we had one in Steve Wilks, but Tepper inexplicably gave him his walking papers in favor of Frank Reich... which, as you've all seen, did not turn out well. The hindsight facepalm would put you in concussion protocol. Anywho, I'm happy for Lions fans. They are long overdue their day in the sun, and I'll be rooting for Dan and his crew!

As a 45 yr old life long Bills fan, I'm very excited for Detroit! 17 yr playoff drought mainly because of a guy named Brady, I can relate to the Lions. We lost our first 2 playoff games under McDermott, with a yr off in between! So even if they lose the first one, they're moving forward and getting better! I loved the Lions as a kid as my NFC team! Just happy for the city and the fans! I've been to the stadium twice, back in 2003.

I've been a Lions fan since 1970 when i was 12 years old after my family came back from Germany to the states. Every year since then I've rooted for the Lions and it seems every year I die with them. I could see the ridicule and laughter when DC had that press conference, but being a exMichigander now living in California there was a gut feeling something was different. I'm crying now with tears in my eyes and pride in my heart. Now I can go out and wear my Lions jersey out in public. I'm shocked AND impressed with the fans from different teams that have come out and congratulated us. For YEARS i have hated all the other teams for their winning and them looking down on us. I am truly surprised and grateful, you have turn this football Scrooge's heart around. NOW, lets go out there and beat some ass!!

As a Packer fan, I am very happy for the Lions and hope they go all the way! They have a great coach. I think half the battle is getting 70+ grown men under you to see you as their leader. Many brilliant football minds fail with that. But it seems like Campbell has that part secured.

So I’m grateful & appreciative as a honest LIONS FAN for the love cause I grew up with this team by default but feel in love with our cities SPORT SPIRIT & I’ve seen all my other sports clubs Win Championships but now it’s the LIONS TURN‼️ 💯

I said what a clown 🤡 I don’t know yet if he can coach but I do know he is a leader of men. These guys will run through a brick wall for him. I became a Lions fan in 1974 at the age of 11.The year now is 2023 I’m 60 years old you know how many friends, family members,co-workers are no longer here to see this ride 😢It was always a joke in the beginning “Will the lions ever win in our lifetime “?
