Bruce Hornsby is a very down-to-earth humble is a man of many hats but the sin in the same time he's a real good man he is like a genius what a wonderful man and I'll never forget the time I met him at Needham Mass and he gave me his autograph

My very first concert ever, September 1988, Great Woods, Mansfield, MA. 30+ years and hundreds of concerts later, still my favorite show. Most incredible piano player I’ve ever seen. I miss the Range, for sure….and would be the first in line for a reunion.

Bruce, we spoke one morning at Dulles Airport where I approached and thanked you for inspiring me to buy an acoustic piano and the long road to become a competent player. I remarked that the journey had proved to be more arduous than expected but it allowed me to discover MIDI and I'm now a world class piano player ... a measure at a time ... the wonders of loop recording. Thank you...For your humanity, humility and your body of work. In particular the cuts for Shawn Colvin, Sara Evans, Bonnie. So glad they didn't hire "anybody". So glad they hired you.

Bruce mentions 'Halcyon Days' being made "ten years ago now..." (marker 9:38-40) was released in 2004. Perhaps this interview was shot in 2014? (although posted Mar 3, 2018). So at the time Bruce would have been 60 (Born Nov 23, 1954). A gracious man indeed, especially since he has a concert with Ricky Skaggs--and the runner being 45 mins behind, and a new banjo player. That's a lot of pressure. Bruce is the consummate professional.

Oh my, what a pleasure! I am on a Bruce Hornsby kick these days, and not for the first time. I was particularly struck by his nascent remarks about Elton. I say 'nascent' because it seems like there was more he perhaps wanted to say, but the 'flow' of the interview did not allow it. Still, I thought I detected a very slight lump in his throat when he discussed the great master, whom I have long understood as one of his inspirations, just as he - EJ - has always also been one of mine.

My first Bruce concert was 1986. Im one of those people he was describing near the end of the interview. I feel like I’ve missed the best part. It’s been over 2 years since we lost Lyle Mays, Pat Metheny’s longtime collaborator. I wonder, if the stars aligned just right…. Bruce & Pat could take another run at the “Group” environment. Just planting seeds…

Bruce you are not out of big hits yet. My favorite song when I was flying form here to there fishing on sword fish boats not sport fishing. It was 30 40 day trips at sea. I almost lost my life and after everything was said and done. You where still my favorite I knew for sure when I put my headphones on it was you I wanted to listen to. I have a song for you. ...
