*LYRICS - Blue* ------------ Blue Oh so lonesome for you Why can't you be blue over me? Blue Oh so lonesome for you Tears fill my eyes till I can't see Three o'clock in the morning Here am I Sittin' here so lonely So lonesome I could cry Blue Oh so lonesome for you Why can't you be blue over me? Now that it's over I realized Those sweet words you whispered Were nothin' but lies Blue Oh so lonesome for you Why can't you be blue over me? Oh baby, why can't you be blue over me? Ellen's voice is her "other" instrument and she has complete mastery of it and the banjo. Each one of the Peterson's does their part so well, especially Matthew with that solid guitar strumming, and then Katie who make the fiddle "talk" and the quiet Julie Anne who is growing up way too soon, Mama backing them all up and then Emmet's incredible dobro work all in perfect time and perfectly in key. So much talent in one family it's a musical miracle. This family sets the bluegrass bar at new heights.

B Parrish eh.... might also be the simple mic-ing, permitted dynamics, and lack of ‘flattening’ in the production. Good sound, yes, talent, sure, but ‘purity’ everyone talks about is partly due to the lack of dynamic suppression and indiscriminate ‘standard’ production. Which they really don’t need. Ever lived through the torture of listening to one of those ‘recorded live’ radio shows they have that featured Maren Morris? As she crudely clambered through a couple songs? She needs the studio; these guys don’t.
