It's hard to follow in the footsteps of Ella Fitzgerald and Karen Carpenter without copying them, but I have to say, Katie pulled it off with flying colors! I noticed she took her voice down a notch where the sweet spot is with full resonance and control unlike I've ever heard her before. Then the phrasing kept it swirling like a freshwater creek. And the dress, glittery as it was, is a perfect fit and color. Then there's Julianne with a great big adoring dimpled grin complemented by the admiring smile of Ellen. Combined with Emmett's unique sound and the rest of the band to provide background to hang that superb voice on and you've set the stage for the New Year to start off right. Way to go Petersens!

I note this song was first recorded when I just beginning grade school I am sure I have heard the song many times over the years but never remember enjoying it as much as this rendition. I listen to it often since the Petersen's released their cover of the song. I am drawn to listen to it often. I can't explain it but I am getting to the point that I don't want to miss a day without listing to the Petersen band. They are always so upbeat and smiling and a joy to watch. It is so much more enjoyable to watch a band play and sing than what many groups do creating a video with many scenes and backdrops that have nothing to do with the music. I wonder if that is a conscience decision to eschew the typical music video format. I much prefer your format. By the way I think Julianne looks stunning in this video.

Great phrasing on this tune. This is right in your range. Great one. I heard the same thing Alec Epting heard right off without reading the comments. This is what makes a great performance. Perfect range, perfect phrasing. This was magic! All the pieces came together...including the Dobro, harmonies and guitar. Goes to prove....it's not about flashy playing. It's the right song for the right voice and the right notes for the back up.
