I wonder if he's shy, or if he's nervous about speaking English. He's doing a great job learning a new skill in a second language. I wonder if he's getting more from the hands on than he is from the words. He looks a bit confused when its explained then gets a "oh, now I get it " when its demonstrated. Either way, he's doing great.

There is a shortage of skilled tradesmen in the unions in the U.S. at least in California. Electricians, HVAC, etc. Workers are retiring and there are not enough to replace them. Thank you Simon for teaching Yanis a needed skill! Keep up the great work, Yanis!
@mrsducky3428 Жыл бұрын
That has quite a bit to do with California state regulations and unions. Most trade schools are run by unions, and they want to control where the students work. A friend was told he couldn't get a job at McDonald's whilst waiting for jobs to come through the HVAC trade school. He asked how am I supposed to buy gas to get here? They replied "ask your parents"
@daisylovelock9553 Жыл бұрын
Do you have technical colleges in Cal'? Where people learn their trades instead of spending a fortune to learn at integrated colleges. Or are there apprentice schemes? Most people prefer to be earning asap.
@joywebster2678 Жыл бұрын
Trades are suffering all over because the unions kept them locked down, and yet we knew this gap would happen once the baby boomers retired, stopped working because they were the master tradesmen. They often allowed legacy apprentices in, but so many of my age group were told back in the late 70s, no you ll never get in. Now all trades are screaming for apprentices and skilled workers. Sad for 40 yrsxaf those denied, and now the gap. Hope the union halls are happy with their planning.
