Speedlight Flash Overpowering The Ambient Light for Impact Portraits

In this film Mark talks about bringing more impact to your images when working with Flash, specifically Speedlight Camera Flash.
Exposing for the sky is key, or whatever is the dominant light source, and then matching the exposure or overpowering the exposure by 1 stop.

Thanks for this tutorial, Mark. You mentioned high speed sync for cases where a very fast shutter speed is needed. I wonder how high speed sync compares to the use of a neutral filter attached to your lens to cut some of the light and allow for a "normal" sync speed of the flash. Thank you!

Yes as long as you shutter speed is less than say 200 you will be able to use normal synch.

Sounds really interesting, pity you didn't show the actual settings that you use on the speedlite each time.

The speedlites are set in manual mode and individually set in power to then meter independently as the modifiers effect and diffuse the flash and its power as it reaches the subject.
