In an exclusive conversation, Former NFL player and Florida State standout, Travis Rudolph sits down with Ryan, Channing and Fred a few days after being acquitted of all charges surrounding an April 2021 fatal shooting in front of his Florida home. In an emotional discussion, Rudolph opens up about how hard it's been on him from losing his father to gun violence to struggling through injuries in his football career to death of his nephew to the life altering incident in April 2021, where he took another man's life while injuring others in an attempt of self defense being attacked at his own home.
The shooting on April 7, 2021, came after an altercation between Rudolph and his then-girlfriend Dominique Jones. Not long after, Rudolph was confronted at his house by four men. It ended with Rudolph firing 39 shots in the direction of their SUV, leaving one deceased and three others injured. Rudolph claimed that he killed a man and almost killed three others in order to save his own life. After a two-week trial, It took Jurors four hours to find Travis Rudolph not guilty of first-degree murder and cleared of three counts of attempted murder from the fatal shooting outside his home in Lake Park, Florida.
Taking Fred, Ryan and Channing through the series of events that led up to the shooting, Rudolph emotionally explains how his then girlfriend was upset over some text messages she read in his phone and contacted her brother and his friends to go shoot up his shit which led to them arriving at his home, first beating him up then drawing guns. After being arrested and facing charges, Rudolph spent time in prison awaiting his trial and a year on house arrest during a time where he went through a lot of loss and reflection. He explains how he's been grief stricken from the loss of his father who was shot and killed while he was working and his young nephew who passed away in a car accident while trying to stay strong in his mindset fighting for his life since April 2021.
The former New York Giants and Florida State wide receiver, filled with tears, tried to put into words what the past few years has been like and the toll it's taken on him, his family especially his mother who was there the night of the shooting which prompted him to go into survival mode.
Rudolph, who was signed as an undrafted free agent out of college and spent the 2017 season with the Giants, but his career was stalled from injury before signing with a CFL team before 2020. Now that he is acquitted of all charges, Rudolph is looking to get his life back on track and try to get back into football and fulfill his aspirations of playing professional football, a path he started down years ago as a young high school star.

I watched the entire trial and as a woman, that evil woman Dominque showed zero remorse, was super combative, lied, broke numerous of laws on felony levels and showed her true colors - her narcissism and lack of accountability was unbelievable and I hope all women especially young ladies learn from this. The way Travis answered pivot re: his thoughts on her- she didn’t deserve that kindness. I really hope Travis gets an opportunity to play pro ball again. Dominque and those 3 living guys need to be charged with assault, attempted murder (because that was their intent) and she is an accessory to the crime. The entire investigation was sloppy. Great job pivot for giving him a safe platform to speak.

Unfortunately, the sloppy work from the police and detectives keeps other women from learning anything because the girlfriend is not being tried. SMH. Never saw her mom but I wonder how she must feel about her daughter, her son, and her car! All through the trial I kept wondering how the prosecuting attorneys felt trying a case that made no sense.

I pray for this poor kid. Can he sue or bring charges against Dominique? Why wasn't she arrested for inciting this? Also, Florida is a stand your ground state. How did he spend time in jail??

@@carlaling41 cause they were running away to the car..what saved him was the fact that his brother gave chase and they ended up attacking the brother but got back in the car ..and they pointed their guns at him he however shot their asses up..if it weren't for the fact that two guns were found on those fools , that is what swayed the jury to vote not guilty cuz they had guns and they started it.. In order for self defense/stand your ground to work ..u have to be in clear present danger..had he shot them when they initially attacked him at the door..he would not have been arrested..case woulda been closed

I couldn’t agree more! I really like to think that he and his family are moving forward without allowing this fair-weather grifter from consuming any more of their energy. So many major life-changing events happened in a short amount of time. It’s an incredible shame they have to think/deal with her and her people instead of the heavy issues they already face. Somehow, I think they will be just fine. The mother is in my thoughts!!! She clearly has raised an amazing family. She sets the tone-always. I’m sure it is challenging but, she seems like one to rise! ❤

I feel Travis so deeply and I find it hard to look at him as a murderer. To me he’s a hero, it’s them or mine and he chose accordingly. I absolutely salut you guys for interviewing him in the best manner. This was heartfelt.

He’s not a murderer he’s a self defender; and sad those other dudes died or were injured. Don’t get involved in other folks drama, and when a female is moving emotional move with logic and reason no both sides. The woman put a battery in her brothers back, “ shoot his ish up” and he and his friends ate the cookie, went to a man’s mothers home after 12am, jumped a man, brandished handguns ect. And the ish hit the fan…. And she sits back like she is innocent in all this… the Skallewag should have been charged and the brother for going to the man’s domicile buggin.

I disagree with RC’s pc approach; don’t want to kill no one, but you have the right to protect and defend your life and your family. Sad another black man died because of someone else’s BS…. 2 Amendment saved TR and his household. Not anti gun that an agenda that empowers criminals

@@dfldz1811 I completely agree. The state definitely was trying to charge the wrong person. I still believe she should be charged.. It’s also mind blowing to me because I have brothers and I’m very aware they don’t play about me. For I love them so deeply, I would never send them on a hit. Shit could go either way so I could never put them in that predicament.. Im sure it wasn’t that serious of an affair.

I do hope he gets another chance at football, but if he doesn’t I guarantee you he will be successful in whatever he does because he’s experienced something that almost nobody has experienced and he probably has an entirely new appreciation for freedom and life in general.

He didn't miss out on millions, he was at his peak a fringe roster player/practice squad guy and at the time of the shooting he was already out of the league and had just signed a deal with the CFL. Playing in the CFL doesn't make you millions, and playing in the CFL doesn't get you back to the NFL 99.9% of the time. So unfortunately he was never gonna be back in the NFL. However there's no shame in the CFL, CFL or Indoor Leagues, if you can get paid to play ball you are blessed and he for sure had that blessing taken away from him.
