UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormeir joins the Pivot in a special conversation after his recent 2022 Hall Of Fame Induction in Las Vegas.
One of the trailblazers for the UFC and former light heavy weight and heavy weight champion, Cormier, known as DC, is one of the most respected and gifted athletes to come out of the sport.
Channing and Fred have been waiting for this moment to have DC, who is Ryan's co-host on their ESPN UFC show, finally sit down with the group. It doesn't take long for the three of them to join forces and team up against Ryan on everything and anything that comes up.
DC, a Louisiana native like Ryan, shares how his upbringing didn't expose him to a lot outside his community and that pursuing wrestling instead of football molded him to have a different childhood. Watching his parents work multiple jobs and stay positive through tough situations helped him develop a "no quit" work ethic and was the foundation for his long prosperous career.
Detailing his journey of loss and struggle, DC talks about how the difficulties in his life only helped propel him to the next level of success and only work harder. Losing his daughter tragically, his father on Thanksgiving and mother recently...his journey hasn't been a clean one but how he was able to bounce back better from adversity is his message. DC shares that without all life's adversities, he wouldn't have all the fortune, the success and the accomplishments he has today.
Currently a commentator and tv personality for the UFC, DC gives praise and talks the differences of the modern day athlete vs the ones during his time and also talks about Conor McGregor, Floyd Mayweather and Jon Jones, recalling his bouts against Jones, who he still doesn't respect and explains why he has never been able to make peace with that part of his career.
The guys laugh their way through some of the tougher moments in the conversation and share an important life message for anyone who may be experiencing hardships on their journey and open up about fatherhood and the roles they serve in their children's lives.
New Episodes of The Pivot release every Tuesday at 12 noon eastern with special drops on Friday afternoons. All shows are available on KZbin, Spotify, Apple and other audio streaming platforms. Listening to him talk about his relationship with Jon Jones from a personal and professional lens was powerful. I love that he kept going back to “that dude was so gifted but he wouldn’t let himself be great.” That’s a perfect description of Jones from someone whose legacy is forever linked to him.

@@SHAiD- Nobody screwed Jon over but himself man. Outside the ring.. well we all know. Inside the ring, he's had too many incidents that automatically put an ! beside his name. I feel this, but also jones wasn’t even training and was merking these fuckin guys. That’s not steroids. Steroids doesn’t make you a smart fighter. Jones is a technical genius. His use of distance and having an 84” reach as a 6’4 fighter was used as a huge weapon. Steroids helps with not getting tired and not need to recover, and having some extra strength In some situations. His suspensions will follow him, but he still would have beat anybody regardless of that.

Jones tried to act like one with all the politically correct answers and religion bullshit though. He should have been himself ( the heel/sociopath) from the start and just embrace that role. I agree on him being the greatest fighter to ever step foot in an octagon. The drug test fails will always be something that can be used against him though. And I can’t blame people for doing that

Honest and humble? He's the LAST person that should open his mouth about cheating since he's the ONLY person that has been witnessed cheating in MMA history....there are tons of accusations and drug tests, but no one saw anyone take any drugs, no one watched the drug test being conducted...you are trusting a stranger....but we ALL SAW Cormier grab that towel to make weight...it was on camera, witnessed by all and recorded for posterity....he is a CHEATER.

One of my favourite fights was the 1st Jones- DC fight. It was intense and neither was willing to yield an inch. It was inspiring, even Jones & DC’s reaction immediately after the fight showed both men had sacrificed so much. Despite the steroid failures of Jones, there rivalry was unmatched.
