I drink it just because of the carnivore diet. I drink one pack throughout the whole day. stop fearing salt. you have been duped like the rest of the sheep.

I agree with your assessment. I'm an ultra-endurance cyclist. I don't drink LMNT everyday or even every long ride. But if it's hot or I know the route I'm taking is going to be hard, I do use one packet at the start and on a really long or hard ride, a second later in the day if I've been sweating a lot. I've been prone to cramping and muscle spasms and have tried tablets (salt and products like enduralytes) and they don't work for me. You can feel a cramp starting to build and LMNT is the only product I've tried that stops the cramping within 5 to 10 minutes. Chug a bottle and cramping goes away. It's pretty amazing. I'm not sponsored BTW, I just like the product. A word of warning though... if it's not hot or you haven't been sweating a lot, too much LMNT too fast will cause GI issues, at least for me. So I tend to just use one packet unless I feel a cramp coming on.

Correction: it's not "a gram of salt". It's 1,000 mg (1 gram) of SODIUM. I'm sure you know this and just said "salt" when you meant sodium. Our common vernacular annoyingly interchanges these terms, so it's understandable. To those who don't know: salt is sodium CHLORIDE (NACL). So a gram of salt is not a gram of sodium, it's actually only

LMNT: Uses Maltrodextrin as a binding agent in their flavored packets: Maltodextrin can have several potential health risks, including: Blood sugar spikes Maltodextrin has a higher glycemic index (GI) than table sugar, which means it can cause blood sugar to spike shortly after eating. This can lead to a spike in insulin, a hormone that helps regulate blood sugar levels. Gut bacteria balance Maltodextrin can reduce the number of good bacteria and increase the number of harmful bacteria in your gut. This can lead to intestinal damage and increase the risk of inflammatory bowel diseases like Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Maltodextrin can also suppress the growth of probiotics, which are important for immune system function.

My spouse and I really like LMNT. We found that for someone with Crohn's or lots of liquid output (like when one is sick) this is the best way to feel better fast with the possible exception of a saline/mixed infusion. Also, water down your drink. We use a packet with about 30 oz. Of (yes COLD) water for optimal flavor. And I do love the mango jabanero, but not everyone loves heat. 😅 Your videos are getting better btw! Pacing and editing helps a lot!

I have POTS and the cardiologist suggests drinking 3000 - 4000 mg of sodium of day. LMNT puts a formula on their website for those who would like to make it themselves. You can tailor it to your own needs based on your labs and a convo with your doctor. I add citric acid and lemonade to cover the salty flavor. It is definitely a little tart. Making it myself is a lot cheaper!

Honestly it comes down to how you're feeling. You could try "pre-loading" beforehand (either in the morning or 30-60 minutes before training) and see if your body responds well. Or, if you usually feel fine during your workouts, replenishing after is nothing to worry about either! With hydration and electrolytes it really comes down to keeping up with it throughout the day and addressing when you feel especially thirsty. Hope this helps, even if it's not a black/white answer!

tbh the high amount of sodium compared to the other 2 confuses me. DRA sodium is 2300mg and potassium is 3400mg(though I do accept that you need more, especially on certain diets and/or if you exercise a lot). So you need less sodium, *and* it's easier to get(much, much easier), and they give you 1000mg. You need *more* potassium, *and* it's harder to get, but they only give you 200mg? As the kids say, the math ain't mathing. It still tastes good, tho. I don't mind the saltiness at all, and the watermelon and citrus flavors are superb. Orange and raspberry were also nice. Some of the flavors were weird - mango chili tasted like spicy grapefruit, and the actual grapefruit flavor didn't taste like much of anything at all(generic "fruit" flavor that wasn't even recognizably citrus).

Thanks for sharing! So take this with a grain of salt (pun intended...gotta practice dad jokes for future kids). If you're eating a well-balanced diet there's a good chance you're getting the sodium you need through that. In addition to sodium, spinach, pumpkin seeds, cashews, and most beans are good sources of magnesium, which can round out your electrolyte profile. One other thing to consider is the sugar mix. Hydration isn't just sodium, it's also glucose. So adding a small amount of maple syrup with a tall glass of water could potentially help, hypothetically. Hope you find this useful!

This electrolyte drink is way too expensive for me. I make my own drink for approx. 10 cents a serving. This one has to much sodium and not enough potassium for me!

Totally fair! I really like the mix I mention at the end with the 1/16th tsp salt and 1tsp of maple syrup. That gives similar effects for way cheaper.

Do you know of Sally Norton she is a dietitian bachelorette from Cornell university and Masters degree in Public Health a vegan herself. You should check her out. Good stuff! I only drink LMNT with a large flask of water only way too salty. I just not sure of the stevia and I just finished my sample pack. I really loved Liquid IV full sugar. Not just the taste but how it made me feel. I felt very hydrated. Not so with LMNT. Good luck, thanks for your review!

I don't drink mine... I just eat it when I feel like I need a pick me up. I was never a big flavored water fan.

its not 1 gram of salt, its 1 gram of sodium which is more potent

Everyone needs 4700 mg of Potassium PER DAY; about 350-400 mg of Magnesium PER DAY; depending on if you are Male or Female? That’s basic requirements

I’m no doctor, but I’m pretty sure your urine was darker because more water was being absorbed into your blood. Meaning it was actually hydrating you instead of going in and out

That packet is way too much for a half liter bottle of water...tastes terrible. Half a packet per bottle tastes way better. Just drink two bottles over time.
@theplantbasedteacher Жыл бұрын
Yep when I take it now I use about 1/3 a packet to spread it out!

Leave plant-based. Go carnivore. Then you'd want to have electrolytes to find your optimal self.
