Courts, judges and iwi are responsible for huge amounts of crime through weak sentencing. They need to be held to account for the damage.

@Badgerman91323 күн бұрын
100% the judiciary needs to be held to account for the woeful outcomes that originated under the Arden led governments. Police attend, investigate and charge offenders. The government of the day shape the response the police take, equally the government do the same with the judiciary. Sit back and watch the difference in crime stats relative to the last 6 years.

The new Police Commissioner has a big challenge with his approximate 10,750 sworn uniformed police officers dealing with approximately 9436 gang members, mostly belong to the country's 15 main gangs, who have extensive connections to global criminal/ drug cartels and unknown number of unregistered firearms. to implement the new laws in relation to gang activities by this all talk little plans government has introduced. I wonder how the supporters of the ACT and National will react when gangs decide to challenge the police over these new laws.
@tracymichaelsen49322 күн бұрын
@chrismckellar9350 The govt is hoping for retaliation, so they can be armed at all times. What people don't get is police are armed . Guns are in the cars just not on hips. The training for cops is minimal in nz compared to other places. The fear they feed the public is also fed to police. Maori are a boogie man under bed, inside your head. That's why so many get shot unless the family alert the media first.

@kiwishitloard2568 Bull. They don't want to be accountable for shooting people when there's no need. Nz police have the least amount of training in comparison to equivalent countries. The nz police are a billion dollar business for the crown. Check it out for yourself yet they plead poverty.

Good to see the police commissioner front up on this public forum so we can hold his feet to the fire.. & we're glad we are both on the same page when it comes to cops carrying guns in public. Police not carrying side arms is one of the things that makes New Zealand.. New Zealand. And illicit drugs is a joke.. how can you allow drug testing at festivals.. it's contradictory. The message it sets is it's ok to do drugs but on the other hand it's illegal to do drugs.. which is it. ps.. Trust & confidence with the popo is a pipe dream, once someone has had a run in with the police they're traumatised for life..

For me personally, I hate the way the Police want all details of the people that are asking for help before do anything, even on 111 call they ask questions beyond what is needed and it's plain dumb, I no longer call or ask police for help as they show ZERO interest in doing any work without everyone else's details.... When a person is laying in the middle of a state highway and there is people stopping traffic and another is trying to get the person up and off the highway, why ask the person so many questions????

Does the NZ Police tell people to not leave handguns and ammo in locked boxes in cars? Only to leave handguns and in Ammo in cars? If the Police does says not to leave handguns and ammo in locked boxes,what’s the consequence for leaving handguns and ammo in Cars? If the police did leave handguns and ammo in locked boxes in cars,and then the handguns and ammo was stolen what would the consequences be for the police? Basically does NZ police do as they say or say whatever and then do whatever? Do they do that regardless of whatever.😂
