Hi, could you please let me know how does the minute hand moving exactly with disturbing the clock entirely
@thepop-upchannel49193 ай бұрын
Probably the best mechanism for creating a moving clock hand is Tutorial 60. But it is one of the most difficult mechanisms!
@simranbagwe5913 ай бұрын
@@thepop-upchannel4919 Can we rotate the minute hand in th direct opening just how it's shown on the first page of 'The night before Christmas' instead of making separate pull for it... if we can than how can we do it please suggest
@thepop-upchannel49193 ай бұрын
The hand of the clock is moved using the mechanism explained in Tutorial 27 at 4.08....in The Night Before Christmas example the movement is generated using an Automatic Pull-strip (Tutorial 16).....The pull strip goes under the page down below the clock face.... the strip is L shaped so the bottom of the L is the piece that crosses the spine, the top part of the L is behind the page it is attached to the strip that moves the minute hand and also the body of the mouse.

I can't seem to be able to figure out how you are adding that second parallelogram. Mine bends all improperly.
@thepop-upchannel49193 жыл бұрын
If you've got the measurements right (Tutorial 5) then the problem could be because the card you're using is too flimsy - maybe making the bending piece double thickness would help.
@ClonedTyranny3 жыл бұрын
@@thepop-upchannel4919 my measurements were wrong. Thanks.

I took a paper engineering class in college and my professor used work with Sabuda, and she helped make the Christmas book. I remember going over the rotating mechanisms in the book with her. I'm trying to imitate the multiple rotating circles that the book has, but I want to conceal the mechanism completely like with the Red Riding Hood book. Do you have any suggestions as to how to do that? My mechanism often crashes when I try because there's no proper room for movement.
@thepop-upchannel49198 жыл бұрын
Start with the basic parallelogram with the added little "L" shaped piece (2.00 in the tutorial). Then, before adding the turning wheel, add the "masking piece" - in essence this should be like the purple piece at 5.56 or the green piece at 6.43, but in this case it should be bigger (like the bed in "Little Red Riding Hood"). This "masking piece" has a hole in it which the "L" shaped piece rises up through. Before adding the rotating image make sure that as the spread opens and closes the arm of the "L" shaped piece can rotate without snagging or jamming. Finally, glue the rotating image to the arm of the "L". Hope this helps and it all works now.

@Nore9525 жыл бұрын
Can you explain how can I make the circle rotate in a certain degrees? I guess it’s relate to the fold on the parallelogram?
@thepop-upchannel49195 жыл бұрын
The amount that the circle rotates is determined by the angles of the little triangles that are folded into the corner of the parallelogram - usually this is 45 degrees, I've made one that will move around 60 degrees but after that the angle gets too acute. Maybe you could experiment.

It's really amazing!!! I like the action it creates. Is the mechanism under the white clock in "The Night Before Christmas" similar with the ones you introduced in tutorial 27 (pull strips)?
@thepop-upchannel49195 жыл бұрын
In "The Night Before Christmas" - the clock design on the left hand page is a very sophisticated combination of mechanisms - all the movement is generated by an Automatic Pull Strip (Tutorial 16) which is hidden under the ribbon at the bottom of the page - the clock hand is moved by the type of mechanism explained in Tutorial 27 - the little mouse that turns its head over is based on the mechanism explained in Tutorial 42 (Pull Tabs Part 5). All the clocks on the right hand side of the page, under the flap, are based on the mechanism explained in Tutorial 24.
@sheiyo66385 жыл бұрын
The Pop-Up Channel Thanks a lot for replying me. I was confused in the beginning since I thought there's no enough space behind the clock for a parallel fold plus a counter v-fold which you explained in this Tutorial 24. Therefore, although the clock hand is rotating as well, it must be done by different way. How a delicate design it is! Thanks again.😊

WHAT PAPER IS? WHAT IS NAME OF PAPER ?
@thepop-upchannel49198 жыл бұрын
The best pop-ups are made using card not paper. The best card is as thin as possible and as rigid as possible. The bigger the design the more rigid the card needs to be. For a small design heavy Cartridge paper would be ok. For most of the tutorials I use the type of card used in photo copy machines - that is 160 gsm.. For big designs best would be about 220 gsm.
