Sorry, disagree with you, although I respect ur opinion. Modi bought peace and prosperity to GJ, like no other CM did. So many riots were happening before GJ. After 2002 (he was just 5 months in the saddle), he did not let a single riot happen and bought in great development with minimal corruption. As for Shourie, I know him, worked under him and he is indeed a great intellectual and a very upright honest person. But just becoz he did not get Minister-ship, was no reason to start calling Modi names. Also, what prevented Shourie from giving these wise-man suggestions in the interest of the nation? What did he do when he was in power.? He was honest, but not an effective minister at all, could not manage the bureaucracy. His performance never made BJP win 2004. Does not a PM representing a billion people, have the right to choose his own team? He may be uncomfortable with Shourie for various reasons. Should we not grant him that. Shourie, Yeshwant, Shatru are all cry-babies and sore loosers. . Modi recognizes merit and would not have kept Yeshwant's son in his cabinet, if he was vengeful. Modi struggled hard, did not get PM-ship on a platter, which the totally undeserving RaGa just might just get.

If India really cares about being a Vishwa Guru - then the prime lesson it can teach the world is "Unity in Diversity". As the human race comes closer and tries to break open the borders that divide it and unite under the banner of humanity, the question of diversity and multiculturalism has taken prime importance in the global discourse. Nations, especially in the West, are trying to find answers to this question as they try to address it with their understanding of nationalism, etc. And yet the country which has been an example (albeit not a shining one) of multiculturalism and "unity in diversity" is itself trying its utter best to destroy these notions at home! That is the lesson that India can teach the world - that we all can live together despite our differences. The only other nation that comes close to the diversity of India is the USA and yet we find there multiculturalism under extreme distress. India can teach others a lesson or two on the subject. We are not perfect at our "multis" - but by God have we survived inspite of them and created a common path for our people to move ahead on. The tragedy is that the people who go around shouting India will be a Vishwa Guru, themselves do not believe in these lessons! Other than that we cannot expect any other important lessons to come out of India for the world. To believe that spiritual lessons from India will find much traction in a west that is rapidly becoming irreligious is a fool's errand. And even then, would the same people (who go about trumpeting the idea of "Vishwa Guru") be happy if those spiritual ideas talk about secularism and humanism and equality for all. Because unless they do so - nobody in the west or even the east - nobody will really care to waste their time on them! Once again, These are the same ideas that the Vishwa-Guru-brigade so despises!
