The 74% stake in NMIA wasn’t GVK’s alone. GVK made the mistake of bidding for the project through MIAL (the original 37-27-10-26 JV between GVK, Bidvest, Airports Company of South Africa and AAI, respectively). Upon Adani acquiring Bidvest and ACSA’s, and later GVK’s, stakes in MIAL, MIAL became a subsidiary of the Adani Group, giving it control of BOM, and thus, NMIA. Thus, NMIA, which is a 74-26 JV between MIAL and CIDCO, is actually a 54.76-19.24-26 JV between Adani, AAI and CIDCO, respectively.

As usual another good story on a development issue; this is in contrast to many other outlets which are obsessed with politics, entertainment and scandals. Hope the development work, including on the link infrastructure, is further expedited for an early completion. But for the focused and pragmatic approach of the BJP government to speed-up project completion, there would have been more delays. Mumbai airport is perhaps the most congested one I came across in some 56 countries I visited so far. In April '24, due to congestion, it took 60 minutes for my Turkish airlines flight to take off from Mumbai after completing the boarding. Congestion delays are costly to airlines and passengers. The aircraft was put on the auxiliary power to run the AC and systems till the push-back, wasting fuel. I missed my connection in Istanbul, and the baggage as well at the destination!

Same naming convention can be continued of having separate names for Domestic and International. This won't confuse passengers too who are not from Mumbai or Navi-Mumbai.

But the likes of BR Ambedkar, Gandhi, Mahatma Phune, DB Patil did a social revolution to uplift downtrodden. Social reformers preceded any political or economic reforms otherwise only rich people will benefit from any economic reform. Secondly it's not our right to name the airport whatever we want without consulting people who gave their land for this beautiful futuristic airport. They are human right to have a say. Tata's name is already big but DB Patil is the regional only name. People don't know him elsewhere. Secondly it seems you are not from Mumbai or Navi Mumbai or Marathi speaking. The first Airport of Mumbai is Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport - CSMIA single name. It has two terminals. T2 is domestic as well as international both. The second airport has one single entrance point for passengers from the Ulwe side. The Eastern entrance from Panvel will only be for cargo trucks. So there are not 2 entrances for passengers. DB Patil International Airport is already an official name given to the Airport. No point changing it to Balasaheb Thackeray or Tata. Tata and others can have metros or highways named after them or other airports but not this airport. Its official name is DB Patil. @@harshalgawai746Bullet train is going to have the operational speed of about 200kmph.... 280-300 is the top testing speed...operational speed are lower, plus considering slowing down for stops...600km journey will take 3-3.5hours. No daily commuter is going to spend 6-7hours in daily traveling that too with high fares. here planes are faster, frequently flyer dont have checkin bags...LCC Airlines will have similar pricing and they will cover 600km in 1-1.5hours...even with all security its going to fast than 3.5hours of bullet...frequent flyer know how to optimize such travel.... bullet train is just a vanity project, a white elephant....thats why Europe too focussed on low cost carriers for intra continental mobility rather than bullet train. Bullet train works only in country like Japan with high consumer class and limited narrow linear geography..there airspace becomes too crowded.

No . The bullet train is being built because of PM Modi - to make him and his friends happy . Otherwise there are so many other places which require connectivity but have filthy trains which are unsafe - but because they are poor migrants they are ignored . Shame on PM & RM ref the number of train accidents .

Mr Gupta, good info and want to thank you for making video on Navi Mumbai's airport. However would like to point out that you never mentioned Modiji and Mr Devendra Fadnavis who spearheaded this effort after fiasco left by successive Congress/NCP government and got it done. You should give credit to both, Modiji, Fadnavisji and their teams. Jai Hind ! Jai Maharashtra !

For everything we do, china does 10 things in the same time frame. We seriously need to increase our velocity. Yes, we are growing at 6.7%, but that's just not enough. In the last 5 years china added 4 trillion dollars to its GDP, which is more than our entire GDP, and that's despite their recent economic crisis.

How were CRZ norms bent to build this airport ? Isn't it wrong ? Besides being an environmental hazard (due to increased risk of flooding), it has endangered the sensitive ecology of the area.

Lets agree this would not have been possible with a corrupt congress government. Even SG who we know his inclination cannot deny that it was BJP who made it possible and all the infra.

As usual SG has got it wrong. The airport board was up there in 1985. Not 1997. As a young lad we used to cycle in this region and there was the land year marked and boards stating the same. The role of Praful Patel and his cronies has not been highlighted in the years of corruption. Sadly SG is turning into a spokesperson for the government and is trying his level best to iron out any lethargies and inadequacies of the ruling party of the day. This airport is delayed not because of the topography but due to systemic corruption. Very sad.
