the problem is that people didnt understood what GN said... It basically doesnt matter where the tubes of the cooler are! It's important where the PUMP is! The pump should always be lower than the highest point of the cooler!

because GN did a horrible explanation and woffled for 45 minutes so people only see his clickbait headlines, hell jay2cent explained tubes higher than pump = good in 2minutes
@MOAB-UT21 сағат бұрын
It matters. Just like when you vent your Furnace out of your hose- all of the exhaust tubes must be going up. Must be no downward turns, even if it eventually ends up high. I learned that from my plumber. So yes, pump needs to be low but then the tubes should go UP and away. Never up, down, around up, down out. UP, UP, UP...if this makes sense.

Having no radiator on all your exhaust fans really helps motivate hot air out of the case quickly
@Izanagi-Arsene11 сағат бұрын
rule of thumb, top mounting and side mounting with tubes down is completely fine, side mount with tubes top is okay long as the highest point is the radiator. it has a slight acoustic problem as the water slowly evaporates over time. bottom mounting and side mounting with the block being the highest point is just no. even if the pump is in the rad, you still don't want air getting trapped in the cooling block.
@RealMelTan2 сағат бұрын
Thank u for these great info! I will try more side / front mount rads now. Been top mounting all my years of building PC. Oh yes, i saw your flip the rad so that the tubes go to the bottom. Do the tubes get the way of building?

Thank you! 1000% agreed! Front/side mount for the win! I have enjoyed having tubes at the bottom, but it's far from essential.

I'm convinced fans are 90% aesthetics and 10% actual cooling. Love to see a testing vid where you put like one fan in a case and see what difference it really makes. My case Corsair 3500x (top mounted 360) has 1 in-take and 7 exhaust fans and thermals are just not noticeable! Note I would swap 3 of the fans to exhaust if I had some nice reverse blade option.
@MOAB-UT21 сағат бұрын
I hear you. Good news is testing can definitely rove which way is best for a particular system. Fans do matter but they are somewhat over rated. I find it ironic and funny how we obsess over them in large desktops, yet tiny, even more powerful MacBooks run perfectly fine with barely any fans. I think they realized they can make money selling cooling systems. I have 8 fans so I am guilty but they are RGB and at least look great. I have 3 exhaust fans with my side AIO. All the rest are in. I like venting out using 3 fans. Removing heat is more important than just blowing air into the case. A refrigerator does not just add cold. It's main job is to remove heat. That is why there is a condenser. The definition of cold is the absence of heat.
@chris_hertford20 сағат бұрын
@MOAB-UT I think I'm gonna reverse the 3 side fans to intake and do some testing, for the science! I grew up in an era with single 80mm exhaust at the back and that was it! My fans are just to look pretty in RGB schemes.
@MOAB-UT20 сағат бұрын
@@chris_hertford I would be curious to hear your results. Post back. I think having at least 3 fans blowing OUT will be clutch. Removing heat is key. Just blowing air IN that can't get out at the same rate is dumb IMHO- but tests could prove me wrong. With an AIO, you ideally want to draw cooler air IN over the fins but in reality, most blow warm air OUT over them. Even still, my temps never went above 45C when gaming to Forza 5 yesterday for 30 minutes. I also run a cold CPU- 9 7900 AMD. 65 watts. It never went over 38 watts. I can toggle PBO and bump it up to 200 watts. It's a great CPU and extremely efficient. 3.7 GHz that can boost up to over 5 GHz. Which AIO and fans do you use? I have Corsair and Titan AIO. It's great but my exhaust uses different fans- RX which unlike the others do not offer the cool Time WARP effect. I use two different hubs. 8 fans total. Lian Li Vision case which is really nice- all glass.
@chris_hertford20 сағат бұрын
@MOAB-UT same CPU 7900x it's a Corsair elite 360, the fans are all Corsair LL120's my one intake is a LL140 at the bottom. Everything else pushing air out
@MOAB-UT19 сағат бұрын
@@chris_hertford Nice. Mine is not the X but with a click of the PBO button, I get about 95% there. Otherwise, in normal day to day tasks, I run super cool and efficient. 40C'ish most of the time. I have never once hit the 65 watt limit. That will change once I start playing Cyberpunk and get my new RTX 5070Ti GPU. The LL fans look great but there performance for moving air is not great. You might want to add a few RX or QX fans IF you need to achieve better thermals. If thermals are fine- then leave them.

Some AIOs are built to a lower standard and will usually just last past the warranty. Out of the 10 AIOs I have put in builds since 2020 only the 2 Silverstone 360mm AIOs with one year warranties have failed. All the AIOs with 5 year warranties are still fine. I have had no issues with my 13th gen i9s and top mounted AIOs. All are in Lian Li EVO(2xXL) cases and use either 360mm EK or 420mm Artic Freezers. All can get through R23 without thermal throttling even pulling 320 watts and all have an average idle below 30c. I think some cases have some issues with some hardware.

I really wish there was a case with push&pull aio's in mind, that allow the radiatior to pull fresh air, and push the heated air straight out. not inside the case. I don't know how one can make such a case without it looking ugly af, but that would be the ideal case for me. I mean it is doable, maybe a side mount in the front of the case that has its own chamber and some silicone holes for the tubes to go in, and meshes at both sides. actually this would be the bomb. lian li, you got the tip. if anyone would do this, it is you.

I have the same AIO but mounted the radiator on the top as exhaust and have not had any problems in a year and a half. Temperatures could be better but I undervolted the 14900k, so it runs reasonably cool. However, it's time to deep clean my PC (I do it every 6 months) and I'm going to reapply thermal paste to the CPU, so I am going to take your advice and mount the radiator on the side as intake. I just don't really like how the AIO tubes look that way. I'll post an update if in fact the temperatures get better. My rig is in a Hyte y70 Touch, i9 14900k, RTX 4090, Corsair DDR5 Ram, NZXT N7 z790 MB, and 8 TB of Samsung SSD storage. Thanks for your videos!

I found this video helpful especially considering you are talking about your experience regarding temps with the different configs as well. I see that you do a lot with Lian Li products. I personally have had shocking experiences with their products, Specifically their fans. Have you had issues with bearing noise on any of them? After many returns I'm giving up on Lian Li as a brand. Their customer support isn't bad, I just keep getting fans and AIOs that break. Perhaps it's just bad luck. Anyway, have a updoot for this video.

top of front mounted doesnt make that much difference, intake Rad would bring the cpu temp down a little and push the warm/hot air into the system, whereas top will have slightly higher CPU temps but a slightly lower system temp. this is all with static fans, so the case fans with a curve will see the case temp lower. the overall temp difference is not big enough to make a difference for most people, unless you are trying to squeeze every bit of performance out of the CPU by over clocking either will be just fine and wont make a meaningful difference.
@TheProvokedPrawn12 сағат бұрын
That is just theory. I have tested and system temps are fine not hotter.

I'd like to keep my gpu as cool as possible since i do gaming mostly and can affect frames since it boost based on its temps. Ideally id prefer all the heat is dumped outside the case but its too dear, or at least higher capacity for heat so the temps in the case wouldn't be too hot.
