Mel's needed a revamp. I'm glad they changed the menu some. The food was not great before and options were minimal. I'm excited to try the new menu options. Great review. I always love how honest your reviews are.

I hope you already know that Mel's Diner is from the Movie American Graffiti from 1974. It had Ron Howard in it as well as Richard Dryfess and many other stars. That's why those cars are out front. They're in the movie.

please continue to have unbiased reviews on the food; like the recommendation for more salt. Not many theme park youtubers rate them for real. a lot of them simply give it a big yumm and on to the next one

We always try to talk honestly about our experiences! At the end of the day, it’s theme park food, so our expectations are lower than they would be outside the parks, but we still have expectations! Lol

Omg you literally broke my thought’s tonight, I visited from the uk in sept and was gutted that it was closed as we went there many years ago. It looks fantastic. Universal restaurants are all mostly great. Personal favorites in the park are Lombard's Seafood Grill, Finnegan's Bar & Grill, & Confisco Grille. Still happy that Mel's opened up again and the new menu looks great :)

i feel like looking at the photos, mel's gives very strong steak and shake vibes! classic diner sort of energy. I will say, if tyler loves chili dogs, maybe one day you could swing by to try skyline chili! its an ohio/kentucky sort of thing, and theres one that recently opened by disney (near flamingo crossings). they give you SOOOO much cheese!

Definitely book an OI meetup. I love going myself. Just to clarify though in case you didn’t know, not everything on the day menu will be available during the OI meetup. There are always several options but you won’t have 20 items at one place (except for Springfield because there are like five different places in that food court).

If you like totally yellow chili cheese dogs go to Cincinnati for cheese coneys. It will literally look like it's just cheese on a hot dog bun. Cincinnati chili is very different from everywhere else as a heads up. There is a skyline chili (which is one of Cincinnatis brands) west of Disney.

Dr. Seuss style: oh my gosh can you really try everything? Universal must have some great catering!! The big bopper burger looks really great - it didn't last long on Mel's diner plate. So nothing was there ...themed with banana - but we have a new nickname...Mrs. Saucy Anna! She loves all the sauces and eats them with ease....while Tyler eats hot dogs with MOUNTAINS of cheese! His favorite onion rings that he's ever seen, aren't from Mel's - but from Dairy Queen! So thanks for showing us all of the yums - I hope you both brought plenty of tums!!!

I visited Universal at the start of the month from Ohio and was disappointed that Mel's was closed. I also got sad when I learned that "Drive In and Dance" was going away literally six days before I planned on seeing it. Can you tell I'm a fan of 50s/60s music and pop culture? Lol Thanks for the video! I'll have to try some of these foods on my next visit.

Indeed! We ate there in 2022 and thought it was standard theme park food. It definitely looks improved though. Not sure when I'll be back, but Mel's will be on the to do list!

All the food looks good to me, but I'm on a 'cut' right now so no overly delicious foods right now 😢 lol but that strawberry lemonade pie sounds amazing-especially on a warm day! (assume it's a chilled pie)

Those foods looked so good. We ate at Mel's a couple of years ago on our first trip back to Universal. It was good but these items look really good. So Anna, you like that Big Bopper burger better than Richter's? Richter's was really good.

Richter’s burgers can be a little hit or miss! It’ll be interested to see how quality holds up after opening day, but the one we had yesterday was much better! I’m a sucker for a bbq burger, though lol

@@ThePughTwo I understand what you mean. Even though I have eaten at Richter's only once, I know how places can drop the ball sometimes on the quality at times. Our burgers were quite good at Richter's. I have also had the burger at Mel's back before the remodel and I had a rather good burger there that evening. But I definitely want to try the Big Bopper. I also love onion rings and that works on that big burger. I still need to have a Wimpy burger though.

I love Mel’s 😊. Coming from South Africa, I had never been in an American diner before. The whole jukebox, burger place theme was a wonderful experience for me. I’m having very happy thoughts ☺️. Can’t wait to see it again
