Just bought Chrissie's book. I haven't read it yet but it is a little treat I am keeping for myself. I love The Pretenders and love her solo album too. It was a great surprise to see that when it came out and it is a great record too. I saw her live in a club in Melbourne and it was such a wonderful intimate experience. She is such a fabulous singer and a fabulous woman. I love her. She's special, to paraphrase one of her songs. Really special.

I bought all her albums and I can't wait to read her book...i ordered it yesterday.....what a great girl....great women and a great girl...LOL...made me angry last week with idiots trying to discredit her.....she is one of the most honest and fair minded people in the industry ... a really cool artist

+Redcrop Uk having finished the book an hour ago and having started it yesterday. I found it un-put-downable, really gripping. Also I moved to London in 1972 and appreciate the "vibe" at that time for a 16 year old boy from the sticks.

In her autobiography she explained how she was raped by a gang of hells angels as a teenager in the sixties after she ignored her best friends warnings and climbed alone onto the back of the gang leaders bike and took loads of drugs with them all when she arrived at their disused warehouse head quarters ... In her book she very rightly said that she was responsible for her own safety and that consequently she was responsibke for what happened to her... It caused a massive reaction with the feminists who twisted her truth and accused her of saying that if women get raped it's their own fault ... When in fact what she was trying to say to young girls is that if you get blind drunk and walk around the city streets at night alone and in your underwear then you make yourself an easier target for predictors ... All those stupid women on all those god awful American chat shows destroyed Chrissies caring advice while at the same time they respect women like Miley Cyrus and Rhianna who encourage young girls to dress like porn stars.... Yes, women should be able to dress how they want and behave how they want but we don't live in that world ... We should be able to leave our homes unlocked and not get burgled .., we should be able to take a flight without being searched and not get blown out of the sky ... What Chrissie is trying to warn young girls is that walking at night alone with a 9 inch skirt, stilettos and ya tits half hanging out is like walking into a lions den with a string of sausages around your neck ... It's asking for trouble and if it attracts trouble then you shouldn't be surprised ...

I read Reckless. Very interesting stories about the UK punk era. It was a great read and man, was she ever badass! I've loved Chrissie since the first time I heard their first album. Hope she carries on with a new band.

I LOVE YOU CHRISSIE!! - Okay, but seriously, yeah, when other female rockers were trying, essentially, to emulate male rockers, you know, sound tough, affect a growl, deepen their voice, and whatnot, Chrissie was being simply being genuine, being real, the real deal, no pretending (no pun)

For me, I saw The Pretenders as a product of the new wave era and really didn't listen to them. Until I heard the story telling within the songs and I was floored. Especially The Learning To Crawl album. When I listen to Honeyman, Farndon and Chambers on those early albums...I can't believe the swagger in the music!

She’s not reckless. She’s restless! My sister is the same way. Constantly looking to move somewhere better. I don’t know what she’s looking for. I hope she finds it soon. I guess she gets bored with places. And needs something new to explore. All the time. I’m the opposite. I look for security, not adventure and change. In fact, I can’t stand changes. I like things to stay the same. As they say, different strokes for different folks.
