As an automotive engineer and racing fan this is exactly the type of videos i wanna see, i love it. Very interesting in depth view of the systems. Would be great if you could also provide values in metric units for fans outside of the us.

I absolutely LOVE the specificity in this video, down to showing model numbers of spec parts. 10/10 video

Thank you sir for the behind the scenes explanation on these. Definitely helps fans understand better these new systems. I’m a little worried as to how much the overall running of the car depends on the hybrid working but it’s part of the process

These systems have caused changes for safety in both systems. GTP cars have a special connection that allows for the flooding of the battery compartment with a water fire extinguisher. For INDYCAR, the AMR team now carries a Class D extinguisher on one truck incase the Mag bell housing decides to burn. (Unlikely, but possible if the car becomes heavily involved in fire)

is the next chassis going to be Multimatic or Dallara?

And according to Hinch and Rossi, it will be used in Qualy, but sparsely during the race

By the time Indycar commissions a new chassis, axial flux electric motors should be more commonplace. This enables better integration with whatever engine they use, perhaps even replacing the flywheel. There is also a lot of research currently on "zero mass batteries." This does not mean batteries that don't weight anything but rather batteries that form part of the vehicle's structure. The next Indycar can have a battery pack that is a stressed member much like how the engine and drivetrain already are.
@janremongalura57136 ай бұрын
That's what supposed solid State batteries research articles say. "Very nearly here." Fusion is closer to fruition with the Tokamak reactor being built.

Indycar system (supercap vs battery) is lot lighter and lot more suited for race/sports-car. Battery is for a daily driver

Well, guess I am reduced to watching NASCAR that still (for now) has raw, brute, ICE horsepower. I think this (hybrid) is the wrong path for IndyCar, and will not be watching or going to the track any longer. Didn't think you could do it, ruin the series, but you did. This looks like nothing more than being a follower (by following F1), rather than a leader. You've lost this long time (since before the days of The Mears Gang) fan.
@izzdin62287 ай бұрын
Lol NASCAR is also entertaining adding hybrids into the cars to increase power without fiddling with the ICE side of things. Enjoy it while it lasts man.

@@AlistairMaxwell77 You've missed my point (and I am not upset, extremely disappointed maybe). I want the raw American muscle car HP, not some slot car e-motor. However, if they used the Koenisegg Quark e-motor I might watch.
