That's because in Chicago, there are draconian gun laws. Frankly, I have always found it ironic that the places with the most strict gun laws generally have the most crime. In places with less draconian gun laws, the citizens are actually generally better armed than the criminals.

Areas that put in place strict gun laws had severe crime before those laws were inacted. It's a poverty problem, not a gun problem. You'll solve most of this crime by ending the drug war so gangs/people won't fight over weed.

That's why Paul Kersey is an *everyman's* fictional hero that has plausibility. He doesn't need the wealth or gizmos of Bruce fairy Wayne and Tony mangina Stark. And, since when do rich guys like that *ever* stick their own necks out for strangers on a regular basis? That's right, *never*. These pansies - if they existed in real life - have others do the dirty work - and bad ones at that, in the name of "justice". Meanwhile...Real world vigilantes come from all walks of life, with the exception of the rich - and they actually get things done unlike the criminal production prison system. Arkham asylum anyone? The Punisher & Kersey would keep that place empty. Death Wish also shows how politicians and law enforcement despises real justice to keep the money maker going and the populace in fear. Great review and commentary - God fucking speed!

Fair enough. Intent does matter a lot for the law if I recall correctly, and as you said shooting someone who is fleeing regardless whether or not they threaten you before is a big no no as they are no LONGER a threat and that would make it a bad shoot.
