This is a great example of how one's life can turn 180°. The guy had no debt, making a regular salary, and decided to get a house probably because he felt ashamed he didn't have one or "needed" one. People, please dont let your ego lead you to unwise decisions. Partners, be supportive. If it is going to take 3 more years of saving to move to a new house, so be it. Rather that than something goes wrong and now you are looking at 10 years of suffering just to get back to where you were.

All they can say is no. Did you ever see that guy who has a rejection therapy KZbin channel? He had a traumatic childhood experience and was afraid of rejection his whole life so he did 100 days challenge of asking people for ridiculous things hoping for a no. He videoed it all. He got so many people saying yes it was fascinating. He went viral when he asked a Kristy Kreme employee for donuts shaped like the Olympic rings and she did it. So I did the challenge. I asked for absurd things and didn’t get any no. It was ludicrous. I was hoping to cure my rejection complex but nobody said no. But it restored my faith in humanity.

Because they make money on every loan they approve. Further they just got a fish to do all the work for a property that they knew they were going to repo and they sell the mortgage to another lender and walk away more money. I know it's weird and doesn't seem to make any sense. To put it plainly the mortgage companies are playing a dangerous game of "physics" while the borrowers are playing simple math. What happens is a high rate of repossession That destabilizes the entire economy. Happen in the 1920's, 1980's and most recently the 2000's. We're heading back to that place again! Listening to these folks makes me think I'm a financial genius. I just got to say when that happens we're in serious trouble folks.

This kind of happened to my husband. I was due with a baby. Hubby’s work was so toxic (like chairs being thrown across the board room toxic). He was desperate to get out. I did all I could to help him look for jobs (did all his job apps and edited resume for key word searches, helped him prep for interviews, cheered him on, etc) but I felt helpless. But man, it was rough. It was so stressful. He couldn’t quit as sole bread winner and we needed the health insurance for baby’s birth. Thankfully he got a new job just before baby came. So he took a little break between jobs for her arrival and started at a new company, which was night and day different. Thankfully we didn’t have a house to sell or move to make. But I understand the stress a bad job can cause. I wouldn’t wish a toxic work environment on anyway. It’s horrible.

I knew a woman who demanded our boss to let her take Friday off so she can take another job. (No pay rise) she was a horrible worker. All she did was complain. Complaining about the job, her colleagues, her husband, her parents, her children etc. any way in a fit of rage she resigned. She told her husband and her husband was like - we cannot afford it, and she begged in an entitled way to withdraw her resignation and my boss said ‘oh sorry I’ve sent the paperwork to HR’ any way she didn’t take it well and kept complaining to my bosses boss all the way up to the CEO. This was a low level job at a workplace of over a thousand workers and he had no idea who it was. She even tried to get the unions involved even though she wasn’t a member. The entitlement was staggering and embarrassing. Had she fell on her sword with humility maybe she may have got her job back or at least a reference but she just kept blowing up. The things she used to say about her husband and kids was so horrible. Even her own admission, he was a good father and hard worker and constantly trying to improve their financial situation but any slight and she deemed it abusive. Such as going on vacation and letting her go by herself shopping while he hung out with the kids. Sorry for the long post but it just reminded me of this with the stories in the post

I made a similar job transfer in 2018, where I moved cross country from LA to Raleigh without selling my condo first. That condo with 400/month HOA fee didn't sell for 5 long months. The main difference between me and this situation is, my salary was about 3 times higher than this guy, and I was single. No wife. No kids. Regardless, I WAS STILL STRESSING OUT ABOUT IT.

There are some toxic workplaces that are really bad. I've been in such places where I knew if I stayed, I would have committed suicide. Not enough is discussed on this. While I don't think it was their intention, this conversation did minimise the effect of a toxic workplace, especially on men who are expected to hold it together. I wish they had considered that when talking about this instead of dismissing it.

They always had a roof over their heads, everyone was healthy. He died at 94yo after his PhD daughter hired an ambulance to take him back to his home state to see his ancestral land one last time. He died happy at the hospital nearby 2 of his daughters who had moved with their family to their home state… That’s what we parents do… We do what we have to… Not “what fulfills us”, not “what we like doing”…

We paid them back for the Uhaul and gas literally if they ask for any help I will drop everything but the kids to help them, the agreement was get on our feet no making crappy budget/job decisions. @Dan16673 you just gotta research them in your area cuz I never knew about them as well until I had kids and my gf put our daughter in one and at the time she was only making like 50k or so. So the payments were less than $200 a month and now she’s making 100k and for our 2 yr old who’s starting daycare later on this month, it’s gunna cost less than $600 a month

After selling a couple homes in 2022, I'm anticipating a housing crisis in order to buy inexpensively. As a backup plan, I've been thinking about purchasing stocks. What recommendations do you have for the best time to buy? On the one hand, I keep reading and seeing trader earnings of over $500k each week. On the other side, I keep hearing that the market is out of control and experiencing a dead cat bounce. Why does this happen?

The top experts, however, have access to confidential information and data that is not made available to the broader public. Being knowledgeable enough to use them successfully is quite another. Big returns, not changing stochastics, are the key. Rewards and risks must be balanced. To reach your aim, pick the right size and turn your edge as often as necessary.

I concur; I've been in frequent communication with an investing advisor for more than 17 months. I definitely remember needing inspiration to keep my business running after a protracted divorce. I researched licensing consultants, sometimes known as portfolio coaches by some.

If you have a bank approved no-resource short sale, you will be on the hook for income taxes on the difference and this can be a lot of money owed to the IRS.

Just move live with family and rent the house. I bought a house but I knew I couldn't afford it. I rented it from day 1. It's been 5 years renting, and I have no plans to move in soon. The tenant paid $120,000 so far.

I love the reminder to 'stay weird' about cars. I am rocking a paid for Honda Pilot with 170k miles on it. We take great care of it and have been saving and will pay cash for my next car- it will be a Toyota Highlander with 80k miles. Wont need to replace that for 8-10 years. Being weird has allowed me to be a stay at home Mom with savings, retirement and college for kiddos. Stay weird people! The benefits last a long time.😊

I live and rent in Raleigh. Based on what I know, I don't think he will be able to rent it for more than $2k/mo. Could get worse because you wouldn't be able to get the renter out of the house. Adds more uncertainty because the house is harder to sell.

Yes I agree. We moved out of state and had two rentals with terrific property management companies. Incoming rent covered almost all expenses so that would be fantastic if this family could do this. Rent for a year, then put it on the market.

@@kathyoliva6966 I live in the same area as them. They could get at most $2500/mo for their house. Since they pay $2800/mo and you have to subtract property management fees and all other costs, they will still not be able to make the payment. That is not even taking into consideration the risk they would have to shoulder on top of everything else. It would be a horrible idea.

Rent the house out… I was stuck similarly where I had put my house up for sale. I moved out signed a lease already moved into my new apartment and then two days before escrow was supposed to close the investors pulled out … so now I have rent and a mortgage due every month so I ended up renting it out for a year and then selling at the following year at a exceptional profit. God is good

I walked away from a home after going under contract bc it felt off. The payment with ins and taxes would have been around 33% of our income. I felt like i wanted to puke and was not happy. Everyone kept saying arent you excited and i was like nooooo. 3 weeks after walking away and getting out of the contract i was laid off. 1 yr later after what would have been my closing and i would probably be approaching foreclosure.
