It is a bit ironic. It's like Dave says, "That's how they became...RICH PEOPLE." If you make $200k a year, but spend $250k a year, you will have a lot of stuff, but (generally) a lower net worth than someone who makes $50k and spends $20k/year.

I have always been money conscious, but recently I have been realizing this message is applicable to other parts of life, especially food. When I starting gaining that belly weight, I knew it was directly related to the foods and drinks I chose to consume, and if I wanted to get rid of it, I had to change my habits. Habits are key.

I found Dave Ramsey's channel a few weeks back and now I'm hooked. Dave motivated me to start attacking my student loan debt with a vengeance. I ran the numbers and realized that with a few sacrifices, I could pay off my student loans in under 4 years. I probably would've kept that debt for a decade otherwise. I watch now just for a bit of daily motivation.

I always tell my sisters it's not the situation that is bad it's how your react to it that shows who you are. Dave is speaking my language. Actions equal results. I grow up in a port household and went to school and got debit. I certainly understand where Dave is coming from. I never let my environment dictate my actions. I do things so I can better my self. People need to choose their actions more careful especially dealing with money.

Sometimes I think Dave is close minded about difficult situations and different starting points. For example his "You are not a victim" car rant I liked the positive message but felt it diminished some very difficult circumstances. This rant I think is extremely well structured and does a great job of encouraging people to go as hard as they can while acknowledging they may be forced to start from a disadvantage. Nice work Dave and team.

Demographic privilege is a very real thing - race and gender can very much place barriers when people expect you to assert yourself less and punish you more. But barriers can be tricky but not impossible - find a way around or another way. Money is one of the better examples of self sufficiency

If you know friend with oily hair that grows so fast is half of the story the protein is the other. Trust me it works. It took me 2 weeks to grow mine it also shine it, gets rid of the fizz. Patrick Patrick Pay off your car. I spent a little over a year chunking all my extra money at my 2013 Sonata. I wish I had started sooner but I paid it off 2.5 years sooner and it feels so liberating to finally not have that car note and wasting so much money paying interest. You've already paid so much for your car so far so you might as well finish off the payments plus chunk whatever you can at the principal and keep your car. if you sell your car for $7000 you'll have to buy a used one for $5000 plus you will have to pay the taxes on it. selling your car would have made sense years ago but not now.

Your doing a GREAT job!!! Stop making payments on the debt UNTIL you save your beginner emergency fund of 1000 dollars and THEN resume paying off your debt in order from smallest to largest, attacking the smallest like an animal while paying the minimum on all other accounts, this is the debt snowball, hope this helps, good luck!!!
@zorkman111
@zorkman111 5 жыл бұрын
Dave's baby steps is pretty clear on this. Step 1 is to build $1000 emergency fund. Step 2 is to pay off debts. Step 3 is to expand the emergency fund to 3 to 6 months of expenses. Only after that should you invest according to his advice.
