TechYK As a Canadian who did live in the States for several years and married an American it is true that their is no tax on lotteries or gaming. The higher taxes you refer to includes universal healthcare so everyone is covered whether rich or poor. If you add what many Americans pay for their healthcare on top of their income tax it is pretty comparable to most States except those states who don’t have state tax. There are a few states such as NY and California who pay more

In Canada you can't really collect your lottery gains anonymously. It is mandatory to take a public picture with your cheque
@edwardlopez90614 жыл бұрын
I think the smartest thing to do when you find yourself in that situation is to call or message every single person that you knew back in school and all of your distant relatives on Facebook or Instagram and ask them for money because you can’t pay rent or something like that because then you’ll find out who is real or not after you announce that you won the lottery. So that way when they come asking you for money when they find out that you won the lottery you can just easily reject them with no guilt.

Alex Pasko I wasn’t factoring taxes. I was only converting Canadian dollars to U.S. dollars. The taxes however depend on where you bought the ticket. In the U.S. everyone has to pay the federal rate, but depending on where you’re at you may also have to pay state and even a local tax. Some states in the U.S. you only pay the federal rate.
