We've cut our debt in half. We have less total debt than most people have in one car note. On our way to being debt free and SUPER WEIRD. Thank you Dave! We need more men like you. 100% agree with the parenting advice. I get a lot of compliments on my daughters behavior. I am tough on her and expect her to act appropriately. Too many parents try to be friends, not parents.

I love your videos. I have managed to stay out of debt other then a mortgage. I can still do better to refrain from useless material things. I am slowly coming along. I didnt go to college, I worked hard right out of high school and became a welder. No student debt while my friends are swamped 60k minimum just in student debt, living at mamas house. Food, shelter, and happiness Is all I want. People spend money to buy things to impress people they dont like was one comment I seen, and that is very true. I am happy in my small house that fits me and my family perfect and my 2010 car that i repair myself.

That’s because in American culture, discipline has become a dirty word. I am around a lot of families (since I have one too) and notice it is rare for parents to say they want to teach their kids discipline. Instead we are teaching our kids that they are special and we give them what they want when they want from an early age. Are we surprised these kids grow up and have no discipline, financially or otherwise?

Self discipline grew on me ever since I went to college when nobody told me to do so (Student loans paid off). I choice to research foods and ate healthy so I wouldn't have to worry about my future medical expenses and be in good shape. Paid my car loan off when nobody could ever help me other than having a job. At one point of my life I was a Monk (photos cna be shared) to understand the appreciation of life when somebody passed away. Good luck to you all on your journey and stay debt free by making smart decisions.

I don’t want to pay for my kids’ college in full. If I can, I’ll gladly pay tuition. Books, transportation and living expenses are on them. If they need to have a job during college for that, so be it. And setting an expectation of how to behave is basic parenting 101. When you let them scream and give in to their yelling, you are contributing to their feelings of entitlement.

In Toronto, the rents are sky high. If I had a millennial child who wanted to live with me, I would not kick them out. As long as they helped pay some bills and worked or went to school, let them save the extra money. I don’t think there is anything wrong with extended families living together but then again I am from India, it is a different cultural mindset.
