But rather than get a bill in the mail, the interest is built into every good and service we buy. The U.S. economy relies on ongoing credit and debt generation for sustenance. The Federal Reserve is expected to increase the money supply, leading to further debt accumulation for the average American. Meanwhile, foreign nations continue to desire the U.S. dollar, despite their own economies facing significant challenges, some even worse than that of the U.S. This situation raises concerns about who will ultimately bear the consequences of these economic dynamics.

Dental and vision insurance can make sense to get if you are employed and the employer pays a good chunk of the premiums. For self employed folks what you can get is usually a wash for dental as the max amount of payout is only 1 to 2 k and you have to pay the full amount for the premium. Vision usually isn't worth it either. I ran the numbers and even with free exams, plus the cost of VSP premiums, plus the insured price for glasses and lenses, and my family is better off paying out of pocket for exams and purchasing glasses online through Zenni. (Delta Dental and VSP are the dental and vision insurances I found to be recommended by many folks who are self employed, but the numbers don't make sense for my family to sign up.) Now health insurance, catastrophic insurance, or being a member of a reliable healthshare is definitely best to have in order to protect against owing thousands or hundreds of thousands of dollars should one need surgery or more than a few days of a hospital stay. I wouldn't go without one of those options.

How does a person with a low income get a car loan with a high car payment like that?... Doesn't make sense..
@alberttang69552 ай бұрын
Dealerships are knowingly giving high interest car loans to lower income people with poor credit. The dealer wants to collect the high interest payments until the buyer is tapped out, then they repossess the vehicle when the buyer defaults on the loan. Once they have the vehicle back on the lot, they sell it someone else.

Wrong. I work in Florida and bid handyman jobs on the side I crush the retail bids and still charge $75-100 an hour on average for painting carpentry etc and a lot more anytime I touch the lathe or welder. I don't know what this kid's skills are but if you can even pretend to be a painter you should make $700 in 2 days I charge that for 1 day and the phone book/google ad companies are double what I charge. @@davidbrayshaw3529

It’s very unlikely he will find someone to buy that truck for any reasonable amount of money. It might be better to just focus on pounding out that truck as quickly as possible than try to sell the truck for a loss and take on getting a new vehicle.

It was a 50K truck. I'll buy it for 20.
@barnabusdoyle49302 ай бұрын
@ $50k when he bought the truck, you know their value drops like a rock. Plus, how many people have cash on hand for a purchase like that?
@DiscoFang2 ай бұрын
Yeah it’s dropped like a stone by 30K in value since he bought it. Tbh I’m not sure if the 50K included the interest on the finance he’s paid. Either way he said he thought it’d be worth about 20K and he still owes 30K. Like I said, I’d happily pay $20K cash for a truck that’s already taken that big of a hit in depreciation. Desperate seller.
@DiscoFang2 ай бұрын
But I do agree, he should keep the truck and by keeping it, I mean 10 years at least. He’s only 21 and once it’s paid off it’s paid off. His focus should be on earning more however little and smashing out that debt.

Don't feel sorry for anyone who wants to have a "truck" to feel better about themselves and to try to impress people. Don't know what's wrong with you people and your trucks. "My truck." Oh please. Go sink in debt because you want to appear a certain way. Anyway, this child will be fine if he learns to be humble. You never needed a "truck" in the first place. That's what stupidity tells you to do.

$700 a month for a truck that he doesn’t need for work. Why in the world did he buy this thing? This is the problem with people who buy these trucks, they live their truck but didn’t buy it for any real reason
@alberttang69552 ай бұрын
For a lot of guys, a big shiny pick-up truck is part of their masculine identity, not just a work vehicle or a means of transportation. I have coworkers and neighbors with this mentality. They would consider it humiliating and emasculating to be seen in sedan like a Toyota Camry or a Honda Accord.
