That's what keeps people from changing bad habits - they feel they were already working very hard and they are tired of it.

I hate to doubt people but I agree. You can hear callers get emotional in their voice and say, “I WANT OUT!” This guy, however, acted like he’s already thinking about buying the new iPhone coming out in two months with borrowed money 😑

Debt consolidation can make things worse if you haven't resolved what caused you to go into debt in the first place. You will believe that everything is okay now and that you've got more wiggle room for spending.

I see so many callers where the train has left the station, crashed into a brick wall, then they call Dave for a miracle. This caller did everything wrong he possibly could before asking for help. I do understand that once you get so buried in debt you can no longer think straight, but geez! Time for a financial reality check. Not so sure he's really there yet. I don't hear that in his voice. Not yet. I hope he listens to Dave, but I don't think he (and his wife) will.

And this is why DR is against HELOCs. This is also a strong persuasion to not just consolidate debt, because it’s out of sight out of mind + a false sense of having actually accomplished something.

Only thing I would use a HELOC on is to improve the property for rental purposes, and sure I can get forced equity out of the improvements to pay back the loan ASAP.

Lol don't knock on Kia. I'm the proud original owner of a 2010 Kia Forte. It turns 14 years old next month. It has 190,000 miles on it and except for routine maintenance, tires, brakes, etc. it is still running strong. All I can go of off is my experience, and I'd recommend Kia to anyone.

We have a 2016 Sorento that’s been paid off for 3 years. Only reason people are upside down on car loans is because they rolled a prior car loan balance when they traded it in.

I don't understand why people are shocked by that. Vehicle prices went up big time during corona. $25k a vehicle isn't terrible. You figure they probably paid $28k to $30k brand new for each one. I don't see the big fuss about the price. It is the world we live in. Either you can afford it or you can't. His CC and HELOC debt is more of a concern.

People like these must have been reared in a household where they didn’t have to deal with the consequences of their actions, where daddy and mommy bailed them out of the messes they created.
@KathleenMcNe5 ай бұрын
@@silentnot4812 It has been my observation/experience that people who were reared with little money in the house tend not to waste money because of the fear of running out of it. I have an 8-figure net worth and I still think about money all vanishing. Crazy, I know, but that feeling never leaves one.
