Cholas along with Cheras and Pandyas defated Ashoka the great and drive him back to kalinga( Asokar Sthuthi) explains this. - Cheras have five chronological ruling lineage. - All tamil kingdoms came from kumari kandam( Lemuria) which was wiped of by a huge tsunami 4.5 millenia ago - Pandyas started the tamil sangam era and were the initial tamil kingdom. Proof is in Thirumurugaatrupadai which was the first found tamil sangam literature from2nd sangam.

Rajahnate of Cebu(The Last Chola): Chola Expedition Philippines: Around 14th century descendants of Tamil king Raja Raja Chola, Sri Lumay, was sent to Cebu(Philippines) to prepare the base for the expeditionary forces of the Cholas of Sumatra(Indonesia). Instead he established the Rajhanate of Cebu in the island. In April 27, 1521 in the "Battle of Mactan" chieftain "Lapu-Lapu(Cilapulapu)" and his warriors defeated Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan and delayed the Spanish occupation. The Rajahnate itself folded in 1565 when the last King, Sri Tupas or Felipe Tupas, cousin of Rajah Humabon was defeated by another Spanish navigator, Miguel López de Legazpi’s soldiers in April 27, 1565 and subsequently signed the Treaty of Cebu, heralding the end of the Great Cholas, one of the longest ruling dynasties in the world(200BC - 1565AD).

The reason why Cholas conquered South east Asia is to dominate the Indian Ocean. Malacca strait is a narrow sea through which 25% of the sea trade happens even now. The one who controls the Malacca strait controls the world trade. That's why we have US Navy fleets there, Chinese fleets there, even Indian Navy fleets there. Geopolitically one of the most important location in the world.

The people who have commented on Chera and Cholas and Pandyas- their divisive thought and ideas are publicly getting exposed. All the three kingdoms- during the times of Sangam were Tamizhakam - a non-Vedic parallel culture- that had a different belief, administrative and social system. Try to leave out divisive individual identities to expand thought process to get objective in how to view.
