Not really.. working in any big company/firm depends upon various things, profile, boss, team, client/service agents etc. there are millions of people who spend decades in big 4s and even big MNCs. If you are supported at the right time and through right means, you would like to work for years in that organisation.

Could you please suggest me how can I switch to a consulting firm? Should I first apply for a Dara analyst? I have learnt basic python, SQL, Tableau and I have also started reading business case studies. But I have low confidence on how to approach someone for the interview. You dont need to do MBA or Engineering to do structural thinking. Just join any startups or any job . You will be Millionaire in a year once you get enough experience. My starting salary in MNC was 20k. No proper work exposure.I switched to startups. Learnt a lot. That helped me find a job later ehich can pay upto more than 3lakhs per month from India. If you think you will first prepare for a job for 6 months etc, then you are a fool. Because experience is gained by interacting with people in the organization and working on the particular field. Studying has nothing to do with that unless you implement it.

First 3 & Big 4 are now disrupted by their own old age models and clients became smart enough to get great potential candidates directly recruited and drive the challenges within their orgs (or) go with a time & material model of consulting services. To give some credit Big 4 ( esp Deloitte & PWC) are able to start breaking the old models than the First 3 in a way by positioning themselves as technology focused. Being said the above generic statements , there are few niche areas where some of these companies are experts in and that wont go away easily to others. Also your learning curve is based on the project you are in . So if you are really looking for a great learning experience, go look for startups.

Worked at pwc and kpmg as consultant/Manager Was a complete waste of my time and my knowledge not used efficiently because to do a small project, they literally put 15/20 people so you end up working in small parts of projects so eventually at end of 2 yrs, you have less knowledge and experience than someone in median sized company But they paid well for just sitting and acting and dressing up nicely and presenting. I have decided I will go back to these as my retirement jobs 😅

@priyad6506
@priyad6506 2 жыл бұрын
@@yoyo9122 are you in India? If yes, than you need mba btech degree.. If you are in country like Uk , there are graduates schemes (it’s like fresher recruitment) by big 4s. In Uk, how you perform in these graduate interviews matter and education need not be BE or btech or mba, you can be BA/BSc/MSc or any graduate degree but if you get through their interviews process and assessment centers then you get the job. After you join, you can do consulting , technical, assurance, PMO role and then select one final role you want to do. I did IT engg in India and masters in mang in Uk and I got job based on experiences rather than through graduate scheme. But I saw lot of graduates did not have IT or management background here to become consultant. In India, all this is compulsory.

I also worked in one of the above mentioned big 4. But to be honest they only did ask 3-4 questions in interview. None of them was related to technical and skills, moreover it was personal type questions. First they asked me about my undergraduate degree then next my favourite holiday destination. Third question was way too personal even I hesitated to answer they asked me about my relationship status. Then when the interviewer found that I was unwilling to answer he suddenly said sorry and asked me about my favourite cuisine. This interview was too weird, even I was stunned for a moment. But to my surprise I was selected at a very lucrative package.

I feel like there's a lotta personal agenda behind this episode. Consultancy is a good place to get CV points cause these massive companies have a great reputation and it primarily runs on prestige. The glamour, the paid trips etc certainly can be a fun experience. But the work gets REALLY boring and dry if your project kinda sucks. A consulting gig imo is only as good as your project. I personally felt like I had surface knowledge about industries and could never go really deep into a project cause i just hated the department i was in. I believe consulting is only good for a few years at max but you should aim to specialise soon or start something of your own I worked at EY and I'm glad I joined a smaller firm after cause it's in an industry i care about

Once my gov client said to pwc consultants "aajate hain coat pant pehen ke aata jaata kuch nhi hai" 😂😂😂. Many of my friends who always struggled with technology and always seek for others help with their own BAU easily made it to big4's just on the basis of their communication skills. Today they do all sorts of work like meetings, drafting emails, completing wbt(web based trainings) all day and they find things alot boaring and always look out for switch.

After striving to work at Big4 for years, now that I have job ,I don't cherish it anymore . Of course advantages of working at big4 -Good paymaster, looks good on your C.V , you acquire good communication skills disadvantages would be no work life balance ,long working hours

It's about the people you work with and not the company you work for. Big 4s are not the paymasters, manufacturing MNCs pay way too higher than consulting. 🙂

Let me tell you what's the difference these consultancies make : Hire IIM and IIT on higher packages and hire others on low packages. Hire people from tier 2and tier 3colleges candidates on contingencies roles and after project is complete remove them. Hire candidate for 6m contract and ask them to put there everything they have got.

I'm sorry i smell BULLSHIT. That analogy of asking a girl out is SO WRONG. If you ask a girl out and she says no, have some self respect and move on. Don't longer and ask her again and again repeatedly. That's what insecure men do. This dudes just talking about toxic hustle culture. I get it, youth of India is extremely confused and it's easy to get overwhelmed with options. Don't work for any of these companies just for the prestige
