I love how you humanise Augustina and you're not seeing her as the villian, but a girl in love who was led to believe she was also loved, but she was just being used. Can't wait for you to react to Betty and see James as the lying piece of ---- that he is, blaming Augustina for everything. I also love how neither Augustina, nor Betty are blaming each other, because they know they were both in love. James was the one who was toying with them.

After my divorce I became Augustine. Not in the sense of being the other woman but in the way I approached guys and would always go for guys with no intentions. I compromised myself in many ways. There was only one guy who was intentional in a good way and now four years later we’re still together and planning to marry someday. And that took me 8 years to find.

Ok but James never pursued August. She was the one that told him to get in the car. (She pulled up like a figment of my worst intentions). And James was already angry for hearing the rumors about what Betty did. So August ended up being a rebound even though he really wanted betty the whole time. But after betty found out about what James did...2 wrongs don't make a right. Later boi!!!!!!! (That's my opinion on this love triangle.) Lol

Yes, Augustine pulled up and said to get in but he could have said no and talked to Betty. It bothers me when people jump right to someone else because they assume something. I have always loved the saying that "to assume is to make an ass out of u and me" haha get better communication skills James!!!ahhahah

The only part that is truly clear is that Augustine pursued James and they slept together in the scenario. I think people jump to assume that that means Augustine wanted to break them up, especially since there’s a possible indication in the song that maybe they don’t go to the same school, so she might be completely unaware of Betty. Taylor left that part vague in the storytelling, and I think it’s very intentional. She’s subtly encouraging interpretation and suggesting we read into it in order to draw our own conclusions.

I love this song however I don’t feel bad for Augustine one bit. She knew from the beginning what she was getting into with "unavailable" James. TS sings it from the beginning "cause you were never mine". But Augustine didn’t care and went for it anyway. Seems to me she knew exactly what she was doing going after James. In the song Betty" James says I was walking home on broken cobblestones Just thinking of you when she pulled up Like a figment of my worst intentions She said "James, get in, let’s drive". I picture James walking with his head down looking sad, and she knew it and she took advantage of the situation. James is definitely to blame as well, even more. Maybe I’m jaded from being cheated on by ex boyfriends but no sympathy here for Augustine lol. I know it’s strange for me to like this song and not feel for Augustine but I gotta say I really do love this song. Anyway that’s my opinion on it 😊

Girl, I'm going through a divorce and was cheated on by a woman 10 years younger than me so yes, I wanted to hate on Augustine sooo bad but there's something kind of pathetic and sad about women that know someone really is with or wants to be with someone else and pursue them.
