I always thought that line was about Kanye west, she tried to clear the air (have a friendly relationship) and he just took advantage of that to make her look bad, so she's basically saying "if I didn't clear the air I wouldn't be burned, people wouldn't have said I was a snake and toxic"

I really like that you are a therapist and still can show vulnerability. I always saw my therapist as a superwoman, that she knows everything and she can get her shit together. I also think the "I once believed love would be black and white" line is about how she thought love was something clearly definable and something that is sort of just a clear yes or no thing that you sort of decide with somebody. She didn't realize that love was something that just is without needing to be forced in any way. Love is so much more than a "yes or no" thing. Its not about ticking all the boxes or something you just do with the person your with. Its something that you wont ever understand...until love shines it's light on you and then it will all finally make sense.

I use this song as a self-love song actually :) I know that's not what it's about but if you take certain lines without context, you could also say them to themselves. Overall it's also very hopeful and soothing, so that's why it's so good at calming me down and feeling love in general. So why not use that love for myself, too? :) That's the good thing about art, you can turn it into whatever you want or need. And there are way more romantic lovesongs out there than self-love songs. The self-love songs I know are more ... upbeat and/or aggressive, not the soft and tender kinda love felt in "Daylight".
