Therapist analyzes the lyrics of Pisces by Jinjer to discuss the importance of accepting our internal duality. When we don't accept our duality then we become a victim to it, but acceptance gives us power over it.

I resisted the urge to click on this for about 2 seconds. I've thought about making a Jinjer reaction bingo card. Pauses before the heavy part to say what a beautiful voice she has. Check. Mentions Britney Spears. Check. Says they didn't expect that sound to come out of her. Bingo! I don't think I heard "I didn't know a woman could do that". Damn I need to get out more.

Excellent reaction and analysis. Tatiana's lyrics are full of duality (she is a Pisces). Off stage she is an introvert. On stage, though she's been doing this now for 15 years she bounces and dances around on stages with more square footage than the first floor of my house like I've seen no other performer do. There is a Jinjer song called "Wallflower" which is about her being an introvert and just wanting to be alone when the band was pressuring her to get her lyrics done for the next album. She's actually in that situation now as well to some extent. Their song Perennial is about seasonal depression and really makes a story of it over the course of the song. The band is from Ukraine and the winters there are pretty harsh and paralyzing. Their song Home Back covers what is and has been happening in their country, Teacher Teacher is about not taking anyone's lessons to you at face value. Outlander expresses her frustration with humanity in general as a member of her generation in Ukraine. Mediator (Pisces is also known as a mediator) is about her wishes for humanity vs reality. Vortex is about overwhelming thoughts sending you into a vortex. Virtually every song is a lyrical treat and there are a lot of them.

Thank you, Taylor! Watched a whole bunch of your reactions to Slipknot last night. A part of me that used to be that kid listening to metal because it felt like only that really helped and was the medium of my inner turmoil and suffering wept to the fact that someone like yourself gets it, really gets it. Different music is certainly therapeutic in different ways, but metal has a cathartic energy to it (IMHO), and it just feels so damn good to see you get it, relate to it, interpret it. When i was younger, there were plenty of people around who didn't understand my love for metal music. Every time i see someone who relates, it hits home and feels like connectedness. And that's an awesome feeling. Speaking of which, hey to all the fellow metalheads in the comment section! ❤

I discovered Jinjer from Elizabeth Zharoff's (Charismatic Voiced) channel. And I have been obsessed ever since. They are getting to be more and more popular, especially Tati, but I think they are perpetually underrated. I'm not a metal head normally. But there is something about their sound that I just love. Tati is a born superstar. I legit think she is one of the greatest fronts to a band ever. Just the total package. You really need to see their live performances. I suggest "Perennial" Live from Wacken 2019. It's a perfect performance with great sound quality. Its also a beautiful poem in it's own right, juxtaposed to great music. But as others have said..."Teacher Teacher" is another good one to break down the lyrics of, and by far my favorite song of theirs.

Awesome analysis as usual! Thank you! Perennial (Live at Wacken Open Air 2019) is a very poetic song about seasonal depression and the rebirth of life in the spring. I would love to hear your take on the lyrics. She writes lyrics in Russian and then translates to English which makes for some interesting choice words, but very beautiful at the same time. I love what you are doing! Keep it up!

This is genuinely turning into one of my favourite channels due to the content and your reactions. I’d like to recommend “Poet and the Pendulum” live at Wembley by Nightwish. It is not the normal song people start with when it comes to Nightwish, however it is the song that suits this channel the most as it deals with depression and struggle. It was written by Nightwish’s song writer the keyboardist Tuomas during the hardest time in the bands history and he basically ended his life in the song to stop himself doing it in real life, however the new song finishes positively with a new beginning. It is one of the best written pieces of music you will come across and is broken into Acts. I won’t say more about it. Nightwish hold the record for most reacted song in KZbin history with “Ghost Love Score” (normally what people start their Nightwish journey with. However, as previously mentioned, “Poet” suits this channel perfectly, especially if the research is done on the songs meaning beforehand.

That face, at "cutting tables of callous men" lololol. That is my face the first time I heard Pisces. Shock and awe. That's the face we all love. Another notch in Tatiana's lipstick case 😂. Beautiful reaction, and beautiful psychological analysis. Accepting our duality, our dark side, without overfeeding it, is a gift indeed. The silent witness, the observer effect from quantum physics. Using music to help shift people's mindsets. It happens every time I pick up my guitar. Delightful. Thank you. Welcome to the Jinjer Army! You got the full dose, with your immediate grasp of the multilayered lyrical content. The more you watch this video and listen to the song, the more layers of fish/water imagery you notice, visual, auditory and lyrical. It's a nuanced masterwork. The perfect vehicle for the duality of Tatiana's amazing voice. Just wait! She's got way more than two vocal personalities! This girl has multiple vocal personality disorder. Her lyrics even express it. In Pit of Consciousness she talks about "In my head, someone else, setting snares for my soul." It seems to me most of their songs these days deal with some aspect of personality and psychology. In the video for Wallflower you'll see the white and black wolves, representing the two sides of ourselves that we can choose to feed. Yes, I can relate to that feeling of having part of oneself that wants to die. Or at least flirts with the idea. I just had a conversation yesterday about that feeling of wondering what it would be like, just one twitch of the steering wheel, over the bridge railing... I think it's a common feeling. It's often not even despair, just... existential curiosity. Many of us seem to have a shoulder angel and a shoulder demon. Tatiana's are on full display! Thought provoking, eh? Also emotion-evoking. This shit hits you on multiple levels. Outstanding reaction. You seem like a metal chick. We like metal chicks. I've got a feeling you could become one of Jinjer Nation's favorite reactors. I'm subscribing in the hope you'll do much more Jinjer. There's a ton of reaction potential. Doubletakes, tripletakes--we're here for it! We know you'll love Perennial, and the live version at Wacken is a great next stop. If you like Jinjer as much as I think you already do, you'll need to react to a bunch of their videos in short order--just so you don't have to wait to experience them for yourself! I guarantee you won't be disappointed. You'll fall more in love with them with every song. They're the best. They have a new live album/DVD dropping in nine days. Lucky you! And lucky us! You'll need to see Jinjer live, too! It's an addiction lol. See you in the mosh pit! \m/

🔥Welcome to Jinjer, Taylor! I just found your channel, saw your Jinjer reaction and subbed, great reaction! I love your dive into the lyrics, and for me this song has all those meanings plus the emeralds being all life on earth about to be ripped away (climate collapse, etc). Thank you for bringing the fantastic genre twisting music of Jinjer to more people! I love their energy, how tight they are, how down to earth they are, the heaviness mixed with complexity and groove, beautiful singing and growling and especially Tatiana's lyrics! The first time I heard Pisces in 2019, I hadn't liked any metal with growling and it took me a few listens to start liking it, but now Tatiana is my favorite vocalist and Jinjer my favorite band (Pisces has been my wake up alarm for a few years and I still love it more every time I hear it, snooze is a thing of the past). TLDR: skip to the last paragraph 😂 Sorry for the long comment, I just love Jinjer too much and love seeing people discover (and usually fall in love with) them and each of their songs! My three favorite comments about Jinjer that I've seen, "terrifying levels of talent", "I hate it when a Jinjer song ends", and "that was more unexpected than my first child" 🤣 All four current members of Jinjer have essentially no formal musical training except Vlad the drummer who studied classical piano. For most of their songs, the three guys write most of the instrument music, then Tatiana writes most of the lyrics and melodies (she gets tons of well deserved credit for her vocal and stage performance abilities, but maybe not quite enough for her lyrical and musical composition abilities). Roman the guitarist has written a lot of the instrument music in the past, so he's a huge part of the beautiful sound of Jinjer, but Vlad the drummer (who also plays guitar and classical piano, but so far not in most Jinjer songs - I think he played piano in lainnereP) has been writing more of it and wrote nine of the eleven songs for the latest album Wallflowers. Eugene composes some - he wrote the instrument music for one song on Wallflowers and a few songs on other albums, and I know that apart from his amazing work on the bass, he adds riffs and has written lyrics for a few Jinjer songs. Jinjer has been a tour-heavy band, touring almost nonstop from 2013 to 2020 and much of the time since then (with interruptions by covid and the US backed coup/proxy war), hard work that has made them fantastic live performers. The band (all members have been Ukrainian, with Russian their first language) started in eastern Ukraine (Donetsk) in 2008 as a group of three (then five) with none of the current members (they consider the official start of the band when Tatiana replaced the male vocalist and Roman joined as lead guitar 2009/2010), Vlad is the fifth drummer (joined in 2016) and it's been a group of four since 2015 (though they consider their road sound engineer Sasha to be a fifth member). I think they're still friends with all the former members and you can see their former guitarist turned actor, Dmitry Oksen, in older videos on guitar and a more recent video (Disclosure) playing an interrogator. One of the things I love most about Jinjer is the messages in Tatiana's lyrics and the way she combines growling and beautiful singing with Jinjer's fantastic instrumentals to be so powerful for expressing the anger and pain in those messages: the anti-war message in Home Back, the anti-greed in On The Top, Mediator and No Hoard Of Value (also the horror of the coal mining industry in their home Ukraine), the protest song Who Is Gonna Be The One, the anti-fascism of Sit Stay Roll Over, the anger at people being narrow minded in Teacher Teacher and Judgment & Punishment, the struggles with mental health in Pit Of Consciousness, Vortex, Wallflower and Perennial, the giving voice to mother nature angry at humanity for letting capitalism destroy her in a bunch of songs like Ape, The Prophecy, Cloud Factory, Noah, Outlander and Bad Water. Other favorites are I Speak Astronomy, Retrospection, Words of Wisdom, Just Another, Captain Clock, Scissors, Exposed As A Liar, I Want It I'll Get It, A Plus Or A Minus, Dip A Sail, When Two Empires Collide, lainnereP, Prologue and Beggar's Dance (those last two are short album bookends that could do well together in one reaction if you're so inclined). I haven't found a Jinjer song I don't love, so I think you can't go wrong if you choose any of them, but a few good choices might be Perennial (official and/or live at Wacken 2019, both are must-see), Teacher Teacher (official), Judgement & Punishment (official and/or Tatiana's one take performance, again both must-see), Pit of Consciousness (official and/or live in Kiev/Kyiv, a third where both are absolutely must-see) or the heartwrenching plea against war in Home Back (official video). Thank you, Taylor! I hope you'll keep trying out more Jinjer songs and enjoy! ❤🖤🤘

Became a type 1 diabetic at the age of ten, never accepted it went through multiple health problems. Did a lot of “tripping” but every time i tried to find answers (asking myself: is it possible that…) The kidneys finally gave up. Went through dialysis. Received a kidney and a pancreas. I remember clearly when i realised what my problem was… I was at a friend's house, high as a kite. Look at my stash and said to myself: “You are doing dialysis, what are you affraid of NOW!?” FEAR was my ennemy! Stopped doing drugs right there, cold turkey! (well… finished the bag actually…) Music has always been a part of my life. No matter how you understand lyrics, you can always make them match. My first punk rock show was Strung out, opening for Face to face in 95 in MTL. I looked around and saw troubled youth…. i understood many years later that although i felt like a stranger in this crowd, i was very much a part of it. Life is a restaurant, everybody eats a different meal but we all end up full at the end… I lost my dad during that period, we burried him and the very next day i received a call notifying me that i was on the list for the transpplant. Rebels and the Saints by Strung out is an amazing song! It says everything about how i feel anyway… Please do a review of this song and look at the lyrics closely. And finally, someone once asked to me: “If you had to do it all again would you change anything?” I responded: “No, i would do it all again!” You may ask why!? Well, if i did anything differently i would be someone else! Today i accept myself and what happened to me and i am proud to say: I AM STILL HERE!!!!! This comment is all over the place… If anyone has questions i am here! Be good to each other and must of all be good to yourself! God i’m corny…. lol

My dad is a psychiatrist who was in the military practicing psychiatry for 30 years, and I myself was a medic for 10 years and we had a conversation over a few beers in the garden a few years ago when something horrible had happened in the news, I forget what exactly but it was a situation where someone who outwardly seemed good had murdered people or something. Anyway, long story short, he said something I found fairly profound and relatable that you kinda mentioned here that human beings essentially fall into one of two categories...this is simplified from what I remember... One is people who will predominantly be "Dark" and have to mask it, cover it, and work really hard to hide that and see the light, and the other is people who will be predominantly "Light" who find it hard to find that Dark side and let it out, but that both sides have equal value. I'd never thought about that in the 33 years to that point, I had never recognised it. Now at 38 with alot of thought on what he'd said it was a complete eye opener because I definitely fall into the predominantly "Dark" category, with fight and flight I fight, I run TOWARDS shitty situations and don't run from them, when the reality is that you don't always have to. Sometimes caution is the better option and since he said that it's something that I have worked hard on the last few years. Not that i'd ever let him have the credit, gotta keep the old man in check but the fucker absolutely unintentionally dropped a pearl of wisdom 6 or 7 beers deep haha
