Tatiana is a world-class growler. Jinjer has been one of my favorite metal bands for 6 years now. "I love her".... yes we all do. That's 100% her. There is a recent band who has a female singer doing similar vocals. It's called Monochromatic Black. I still prefer Tatiana. Every song she writes is very poetic. Jinjer is fantastic live. You can't go wrong with pretty much any of the official videos live or studio. A lot of reactors go to Perennial live at Wacken Open Air for a second reaction. Other good ones are Teacher Teacher, Pit of Consciousness Live in Kyiv, Judgement and Punishment One Take Vocal Performance, Who is Gonna be the One. Especially if it is not at daylight and you can enjoy the light effects supporting the music. The whole band is so great and energy coming from stage flooding the audience. I watched Metallica in their best days and yeah that have been great shows. I was at Wacken several times. But Jinjer is next lvl. Pure experience.

In 1817 Franz Schubert composed a song 'Die Forelle' ('The Trout') using a 1783 poem by the dissident writer Christian Schubart (no relation). Seemingly about a fisherman, it is a warning to young women (characterised as attractive little trout) to beware of men who "fish" for them. Jinger and Tatiana's song uses the same theme and imagery (though they may well not have had Schubert's in mind). You will doubtless find the lyrics on the web - they are very poetical, Tatiana has a literature degree. Note that many sites give the chorus as, and some people insist on, "Scale armour blaze, Virgin innocence", but I hear Tatiana sing "Scale armour belies virgin innocence", which I think is much more grammatical, poetically brilliant, and completely pivotal to the song's meaning. There are plenty of women who growl. Arch Enemy is another good example. There are also plenty of female vocal coaches on KZbin who can do it. There are your normal vocal cords that allow you to sing clean, then there are ‘false vocal cords’ that are the gravely, distorted sound. Tatianna has complete control over all these muscles and interactions. This takes fearlessness & commitment. Like belly dancers who can suck it all the way in and wiggle all the little muscles, she’s doing that internally

She’s in rare company but not an anomaly. She’s top 3 female metal singers for me. Maybe top 2. My personal fav is Alissa White-Gluz of Arch Enemy (she’s the new vocalist), formerly of The Agonist.
