@@tommyjones1357 me neither. It's so frustrating and scary not being able to overcome the fear of going to the dentist. It doesn't help that all my past dentists have done painful procedures and promised pain medicine if needed. Then disappeared on the golf course not taking calls while I suffer waiting on a callback. Lol.

@@marymcinaney7242 i finally faced my fears and I’m very glad I did. As an adult, if your dentist sucks, just leave. It is very uncomfortable and the fear is in our head. You get used to the discomfort. I am getting 4 deep cleanings. Finished 3 and my teeth look great so far and my morning breath is gone! So when he’s drilling away at the teeth, I feel good knowing he’s making them healthy again. Gums went from red to pink! The last quadrant of my mouth is a nightmare compared to the three that are now clean. This was my biggest fear in life and I faced it after 20 years. Now I believe I can do anything! Honestly, it’s not the drills that scare me. It’s the shot in the back of the mouth when they numb you. It’s not pain. It’s discomfort. I mean: It’s the ultimate discomfort. But once you develop a sense of trust and have faith that the person inside your mouth is helping you in ways you cannot help yourself, you will develop an appreciation. And if it hurts, they can numb you more. By that point, you don’t even feel the needles. But the worst part is the high screech of the drill. Lol

I had cancer at 31 yrs old. Stage 4 then went in remission. ALL was good. But then 2 years later it came back did treatment for a year. Now in remission again. I know i have PTSD from this. Ive always been a positive person but bc something so tragic happened unexpectedly its hard not to be affaid of it happening again. I try to relax more often and not overwhelm myself with my triggers. ALSO being more present, focusing on the moment and being thankful for the little things in life that are actually good things. Food, nature, friends etc. Plus bible reading, prayer help a lot.

I freeze and panic with men/confident people, who seem to trigger me to feel inferior and vulnerable=in danger), and then afterwards I go over it in a self-critical way, feeling shame and embarrassment over things I said or the way I acted as a result. Which then makes it even worse! I’ve lived with this all my life since suffering a lot of violence and abuse in many situations with many people. Hence many triggers. I did seek help once but the counsellor basically said she couldn’t cope with all of it! So I’ve worked on healing myself, and I have succeeded in many ways but this fear response is something that I’ve tried and failed with. I tend to forget any promises I’ve made to myself to relax and breathe when I’m in panic mode. This video resonates so strongly with me and I now have proper, structured tools to help me and to practice and I thank you so much! I’m determined not to live like this any more and I’m going to change those neural pathways to calm! Thank you 🙏 ❤

Thank you for this great video. I've been struggling with anxiety my entire life. I can't remember a time, when that wasn't controlling my life. In '19 i had a blood clot in my brain and things just had to change from then on... I'm now 44 years old, and i've come a long way since then... I think the most important thing i've realized since then, in terms of how i deal with my anxiety, is to admit to myself, that i'm no victim. Life threw me a rough hand, and it's not been easy. A lot of sh!t happened to me, and i did a lot of sh!t to myself. But i'm no victim. - And then after admitting that, i had to then start taking responcibility for myself, and my actions. And the only one that i have to hold accountable, is me... - And i had a long time, where i had a big problem comming to terms with that... I felt it to be a very egocentric way of handling things... But, really... Dealing with your own sh!t... You HAVE to focus on your ego... So it is... And that's ok... My daily anxiety have gone from a 7 or 8, to a 2 or 3... And it's also helped a great deal, that i've started doing daily exercises... As i start to feel stronger physically, i feel less anxiety... It's a good feeling... ;) But that's my little story.

One of the things that I’ve struggled and trigger anxiety for me in the last two months was hearing about someone passing away in their sleep...... boom that got to me and gave me anxiety! It was weird !! I also have a fractured on my rib and had discomfort, that discomfort triggered my anxiety even more because at the time I thought I had chest problems etc. These videos and seeing a counselor has definitely helped a lot. One thing that has really helped me sleep and feel calm is to keep my mind calm and not think about the future, I have to live in the moment and trust that my future is in Gods hands.

One of the things that helped me with the fear of death is every time that falling feeling happens in my chest as i suddenly feel death is to think that every time your body does this is because its waking you up to the things you aren't doing or the life you aren't living. I hope this helps you as it did me. With time every time that death idea comes up you immediately ask "oh what is it that I'm not doing then". Hugs from Portugal

Something called me to watch this video and I’m glad I did. I can relate so much of this to feelings of anxiety in romantic relationships that trick my mind and body into thinking the relationship is in danger, so to speak. I know this stems from trauma in past relationships caused by inconsistency or emotional abuse. Thank you 💫

(Thank you for quickly summing up the sympathetic response (flight/fight/freeze) and parasympathetic response (rest and digest).) Beware of actual vs perceived threats/danger. Ways to achieve calmness: 1. Creating safety in my mind; 2. Creating safety in my body. The example with our ancient people and what rejection from the group meant for them was something I will always remember. Ask always myself: Does this situation really present a threat to my survival/Am I actually in a physical danger right now? - If I am in an actual danger, then I can get out of it via actions, and calming myself so that I can take the appropriate actions. Things to do: drawing safety and creating a list of safe things.

At least, gratefully, you're aware of the adrenaline. That also helps as part of the self talk to talk yourself down. Have you ever tried supplementing with L-Theanine? It helps to lower cortisol, which the adrenal glands produce. It's been very helpful for me. It also looks like these videos will be very helpful as well. I'm glad I stumbled on this site. Knowing I can ignore these people or take action by closing old social media and secure my presence online means I don’t need to feel threatened by these people and they are the ones with the problem. Thanks for this. As someone with high health anxiety these sort of reminders really help. My cardiophobia has really messed my me up this past year and each day I believe I am getting better. It’s amazing how our mind can create symptoms that aren’t really even there. Waking up with a 200bpm heart beat thinking I was going to die repeatedly has really made me appreciate the small things in life. Even just my shirt rubbing on my chest can trigger some panic until I remember it’s just my shirt. I swear before I knew I had anxiety, my anxiety was actually way less if that makes sense.

For a relaxed life sit on a chair, back erect, hands on lap with palms upwards, eyes closed, be still and observe your natural incoming--outgoing breath and body sensations for around 10-15 minutes. Be as still as possible. Many thoughts will come which is ok--slowly negative thoughts will reduce and your mind will relax. During your daily activity keep observing your breath consciously. Best part is mood swings also reduce. Do the above meditation daily to feel relaxed. For more transformation enter the following on google search and listen with headphones before sleep and if possible in the morning-52Hz affirmations for health and healing you tube”. Best wishes. I sometimes hear the little girl from the youtube video who calms her baby sister by say "you ok, you ok, you ok". Lol. But it helps. Just stopping and resetting with a "you can do this, you're going to be ok" moment can help toward getting back to rest and digest mode. I want to add that the health research has been valuable, but so much more so when used by a calm mind. That calm mind, (prayerful heart, for me this helps), together with that curiosity and will to beat an illness has been a very valuable combo!

However I still have a severe eye contact disorder. Which I only just learned it could be a disorder. I've also learned low self esteem is one reason for poor eye contact I'm going to try and work on these things. I hope there will be a video on low self esteem and gaining confidence. And emotional neglect which is what I suffered severely from and still do and I never learned these skills. I'm so grateful for the chance to learn about my social anxiety and how to cope with it.

Thank you SO MUCH for breaking it down and putting words to all the steps in this process! Thank you for filling in the blanks by talking about one's INTERPRETATION of an event and using reason to calmly figure out one's present reality, whether it's safe or not.

I've had panic attacks starting when I was around 29, then they went away for several years and then came back. Again, gone for a few years and then came back again. You are so great at this. Thank you so much for your videos.

Doing these mental exercises literally made me feel shock-waves in my gut. As if tension from episodes happening many years ago got released after revisiting those situations again in my head with this approach. Feel so much better, more relaxed and happier. Thank you so much!

Thank you for all the labor you put into these videos. My child and I are benefitting from them even though we are both in therapy as well. Sometimes once a week is not enough to get you through, and access to your videos is reassuring in the hard times where we both need to hear the message again.

This helped me so much today. I've been through therapy before, I know a lot of these tools, but when I get overwhelmed they're easy to let slip in the moment. Your video cooled off a day of anxiety attacks and an awful sense of doom. Thank you, so so much, for putting these out. They help more than you know.

I live with Complex PTSD and even with years of treatment, I struggle with anxiety almost every day. It is a constant battle! I find myself avoidant and agitated rather than productive. I have to stop and return to homeostasis if I want to be truly actionable again.

Heaven High, Your breath is directly related to your mind [brain] causing anxiety-stress. Try EFT. It calms the "fight or flight " response generated in the amygdala of the brain. It has been shown to have a high rate of effectiveness, involves no therapy, no drugs, and the basic information is available for free, right here on KZbin. Look for "the tapping solution " or Rick or Jessica Ortner .

I watched this video years ago and watching it again. It's a great refresher. I also wanted to add a caveat, though I'm not a professional. If a person goes into a dark room not knowing someone was holding a weapon in front of them....when that someone cuts the light on, you see the weapon and "you do not have time" to think and interpret. Your body goes into fight or fright before it even realizes that it was a toy plastic gun with a tag and not a real one. That's why we breathe before we do/think anything. It calms the physiological response before addressing the psychological response (in therapy, they say it's the other way around. I totally disagree). Then, when you start thinking it "prolongs" the physiological response not creates it. I saw something similar, but was a different topic, that Simon Sinek business public speaker said. The part of the brain that regulates fear response does not process language. You get the spike before any language can occur. He did a diagram but was talking about how to get customers attracted to a product by focusing on their emotions and value (the why) and not what the company does and its product (the what). So, I'd say-and I'm still working on this-when you get that gut physiological response, pause and breathe. When you are physiologically calm, then, become aware of what you feeling (body scan). Thoughts intercede but in my opinion they don't come first. Sorry. This is long. I like talking about mental health to an extent but still got a lot of things to work on myself.

@@sarahb.6475 the reason they show you those could be from checking for products ingredients. So they take the food you search for the most and put it towards your ads. I get the same issues with blueberry foods.

Thank you for helping us by making these videos❤ Our brains are really powerful structures. People can get trapped in their own brains to the point that the perception of reality itself is distorted. I found out I have OCD and anxiety awhile ago and it's pretty amazing how looking back it seems all my life was shadowed by these disorders yet I never even questioned my behaviours. Even writing this comment is triggering my anxiety but I figured I should brush past it and start applying what I learned in this video right away.
