As an 11 year old in Queens 1990-91, i became a huge Domi fan. Every picture in the NY Post, Daily News, Newsday of Domi went on my wall. Hockey was MUCH watch TV back then. Teams hated each other and the rivalries were so intense. I miss that era so much. Great Interview Boys!!!!

Late to the party but this is a great episode! I enjoy Tie talking about Max. Type I diabetes is tough (36 years with it here), and the demands of pro hockey (travel, lack of routine, extereme exercise and emotions) would make it tougher. Well done Chris and Tim, great podcast.

All the fights Domi lost (which were many), he never lost bad, and never really got hurt badly. And at 5'10 and 200lb, that's amazing. The fights with Rob Ray were amazing. And Ray was bigger than people thought at 6 or 6'1 and 220. Domi is all heart and had decent skill. Great player going against players much taller and heavier constantly.

Thanks Chris & Tim. Domi was such a cool player to watch when I grew up in the 90s. He was an enigma to me, a mysterious and fascinatingly violent player who would do anything out there on the ice. He fought Gino Odjick in a Memorial Cup game 😄and that's the way he continued to play for a decade and a half. Incredible longevity to do what he did. I loved it. And towards the end of his career I got the chance to see him play in Sweden during the '04-'05 lockout. I'll never forget it. Watching Tie during the pre-game warmup was like watching one of the Gods of the enforcers out there. He looked so menacing and intimidating. He had 3 points that game if I recall correctly, and was voted first star of the game.

I believe Tie when he says he just wanted to win! Growing up a Sens fan in the hay day of the battle of Ontario, Tie had countless timely goals. He provided what his team needed at all times. I loved to hate him! Can't thank him enough for his contributions to the game. He's not a member of the club I support. But I will happily admit he's one of the classiest gents to play the game!

Have 2 stories. I went to the University of Guelph 90-94. My roommate played with Tie at Peterborough. Said he was the toughest guy he ever met. But also the nicest. Had tons of stories of Tie that showed how he stuck up for everyone Fast forward 30 years. My daughters boyfriends father played va Tie in that semi pro league and was at the game where Tie went after the player. He said the whole team was scared shitless that Tie would kill all of them. Said he was a great soccer player as well.

When I play NHL video games, I always compile a team of enforcers. Nilan and Domi are ALWAYS on it, along with Probert and McSorley (Probert is a first line scoring threat). Usually I get Joey Kocur, Rob Ray, Dave Schultz, Bryan Marchment, Larry Playfair, and Garth Butcher as well. In season mode, the goal is to win the Stanley Cup while seeing if I can compile 5,000 team penalty minutes in a season. Puttin' on the foil!

Tie is a beauty. I hope Tie corrects me if I have this story wrong....I remember when he got drafted by the leafs....he and John Kordic fought in training camp....in Newmarket I think it was. The story goes that John won the fight but broke his hand on Tie's head so John went on the DL and Tie got his shot with the big club. Also, I think at one point I think he was the fastest skater on the leafs. Great forechecker and underrated player You are right Tie...that Neidermayer game was the best game of your career. I watched it on TV and Harry Neal said the same thing. Hey Tie why do you sit with the crowd at the leaf games when I am sure you could sit in a box?

Tie said a lot of good things about Bob Probert. He was a gladiator, I remember a game in Junior A where Bob tangled with Guelph player Bill Loshaw, nicknamed Bonecrusher later in his career. Loshaw was only 16 and Bob 20 and I don't think Bob really wanted to fight but Billy insisted. They had a brief bout where one of Billy's overhand rights caught Bob. They sat in the penalty box and things got heated. When they left the box they just went at it again. This time Bob was pretty angry and ready to fight, forgot the rookie status, punching Billy into submission. Sometimes he took no prisoners.

- Tie Domi not wanting to talk about fighting is like having Albert Einstein on your podcast and he doesn't want to talk about physics. - The elbow on Neidermayer cost Toronto the series, and NO Tie didn't fight Jim McKenzie in the first game back the next season. He turtled and McKenzie picked up a game misconduct after pummeling him. - I wish Chris would have asked Tie about his fight with Brian McGrattan and the aftermath of Tie whining to the media that Nathan Perrott should have been the one to fight Gratts.
