Dave you show that in mode-1 you have nothing no gyro at all but I can’t seen to get AS3X to turn off do you have any ideas why?

Hi. A friend gave me an AR636B. I used the Spektrum Programmer software to do a firmware update then exported a .srm file. However, SAFE Model Builder will not load it-gives an error message about it not being a valid Spektrum file. Any ideas? Thanks!

Can you use forward programming to do all that?

Is there a way to modify the SAFE Gains with this software? My elevator pitch gain is too small, I am afraid the plane wont take off the ground with that pitch gain

Does the angle of a taildragger (at rest) need to be adjusted for on the advance tab Attitude Trim, if the 636 is mounted flat to the frame of the plane? Which is by nature nose up.
@TheRCAirMarshall

Jay Napoletano I don’t believe so, as the calibration for the AR636 should be done on a level and flat surface before being installed into the airplane. With that said, every airframe is a little different so it’s always best to see how the airplane settles in with Panic enabled and make fine adjustments. You could use SAFE but if you have any elevator to throttle mixing it could skew the results. I test panic mode at a safe altitude and adjust as necessary.

Could you mount it in a leveled airframe and then calibrate it? That way if the mounting spot in the aircraft is not level you would not have to add trim. I am currently mounting an AR636 in a foam airframe and the mounting surface is definitely level to the airframe. Unfortunately I don't have any other choice.

Sorry, I meant the mounting surface is definitely NOT level in the leveled airframe.

Hi- in Flight Mode setup what do the numbers in the Self Level area (top right corner) correspond to/ mean? And what are the Axis units/ degrees or % for Bank angle limits? How does apply this if one wanted the aircraft to self level if there's no stick input but in all other scenarios allow the aircraft full rotation on all 3 Axis for aerobatics (in the case of the software Roll and Pitch). Ta.

Can you not configure safe and AS3X using just the Spektrum Programmer? Not understanding why Spektrum didn't incorporate both the programmer and builder as one.

Dave, I'm confused? When you selected Aux2 in this video for Flight switch then you selected Aux3 for panic switch. But later when you program the transmitter you choose channel 5 (Gear) for the flight switch and Aux 1 for panic switch. This confused me a bit? Could you explain? In my transmitter under setting "channel Input config" channel 6 is Aux 1 and is assigned to flaps? Rx Port assignment shows channel 6 as Aux 1: Flaps?
@TheRCAirMarshall
@TheRCAirMarshall 4 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the confusion there. When I was programming the transmitter it was a different airplane that didn’t have gear or flaps. So I used the gear channel for flight modes and my flap channel for the panic button.

When in Safe model builder window, switch setup tab, I've setup as instructed, however the Flight Mode with SAFE on box won't allow selection to channel 3 seems its not selectable please advise, great series thank you so much.

From Spetrum, don't they use mode 0 for safe? I'm thinking it doesn't matter if it's 0 or 3. But I'm use to having 0 for SAFE and 1 or 2 for AS3X.

@@dannyhelton6363 i think in that case you can reverse that channel in your transmitter snd they will be in the order you wsnt.

Dave, I just bought the E-flite F4U-4 Corsair BNF and it does not come with SAFE. Is this video the one I would follow to program SAFE onto the included AR636A in the Corsair? I thank you in advance for your assistance!
@TheRCAirMarshall
@TheRCAirMarshall 4 жыл бұрын
Dave-It-Yourself Channel this would be one of them, yes. Definitely on the right track. You’ll need to make sure you have a good copy of the stock setup. If it’s AS3X only it may have the 1.xx firmware which means you would need to gather up all the info like gain settings and stick priority settings. You may need to build a new setup using the 2.xx firmware which allows SAFE.

What are the chances that an AS3X receiver from the P-51 or the P-39 would work?
@TheRCAirMarshall
@TheRCAirMarshall 4 жыл бұрын
The Corsair is a different enough airframe, I wouldn’t try it to be honest. The receiver you have there will work fine, you just have to go through the motions of programming it. You would have to do the same thing with any AR636

Well, thanks to you and all of the hard work that you put into your channel and specifically this video series, I may be one of the first people on KZbin to add SAFE to the Corsair from E-flite! If so, you will be getting all kinds of shout-outs in that video I make! Well, off to start that series of yours so I can get on that! Thanks Dave for ALL that you do brother!!

Why doesn't the Spektrum program allow for flaps in the aircraft type screen?
@TheWaynecollins

Just followed your instructions for configuring AR636A for my new Model Aero Polaris, worked OK but had a problem with the mounting orientation, I am using "pins to tail label to sky", but if I select that setting in configuration, gyro correction is backwards. The only way it works is with Receiver set to "pins to nose label to sky", with receiver actually pins to tail. With this setup, gyro corrections are correct but I have to reverse aileron and elevator servos in Transmitter for controls to work properly. This works, but not sure why the "pins to tail" setting in Rx does not work. Any ideas why this is happening ?
@TheWaynecollins
@TheWaynecollins 4 жыл бұрын
OK I think I figured it out. In the Polaris, the aileron and elevator servos are mounted upside-down, which means the servo-surface action is reversed. This explains why the receiver orientation has to be reversed to get correct gyro action and TX aileron/elevator servo functions must be reversed to get correct control function. Problem Solved.
