We forgot to take off the rudder protector from the Sonicwake V2 which prevented the water-cooling system from working. We got about a minute longer of run time with the water cooling system functioning. Also, on the Eachine boat, we didn't put the haul cover on correctly which caused the excess water inside. The honesty and human factor is why this channel tops my list! I had to actually block another RC channel from my system for not only misleading folks but for actually calling me out in a video for a simple suggestion 95%+ users already do by default! The majority of my personal videos are my less graceful moments as I DO prefer the human side. Perfection is boring. Keep it real!

May I ask what the suggestion was that 95% of people do!? Also, thanks! 😉👍😁😎⚓️

@@TheRcSaylors It’s as simple as using a default flight timer to trigger above x% for an accurate flight time versus setting it to a one time trigger, landing, adjusting things, chatting, flying, landing and then *“guesstimating”* flight times to well above known averages. This was misleading to new folks who may not know better and could cause problems if they set their timers too high accordingly. I mentioned it twice as a suggestion and I was called out for it in a following video then ripped for mentioning the cheap public shot! I deal with tons of folks - none so easily offended! A lot of people seemed to support my thoughts on the subject based on 👍. Then attacks were made for another watcher suggesting how to fly safely by avoiding flying at a camera operator. I can’t imagine you guys or ANY others I follow doing this! Keep it real! Feel free to delete this from public if needed as I don’t have yer email!

The thing you were referencing about the prop taking a bit of time to bite the water and get moving, is called cavitation. Cavitation is the forming of vacuum pockets due to water (at a certain speed) not being able to re-displace the area the prop is moving through quickly enough. When you apply immediate (with no ramp) rpm to the prop, given a certain speed (also depth, but that's for submarines), you can cause cavitation. As you can only have a prop spinning at a certain RPM, given a certain over-the-water speed or else you will cavitate the prop. Not only is it what causes that behavior upon initial acceleration, it also is mostly avoided by operators of anything with a prop in water because in addition to being loud, vastly inefficient (you'll accelerate faster at an RPM that is just below cavitation speed, then increase RPM as you get moving), because it has the physical effect of running sandpaper constantly over the prop.

It’s both, forward momentum and prop blast, some boats have the pick up dead in the prop blast so it picks up water super easy. With water pick up rudders you won’t get as much from the prop blast as you will from forward momentum.

Hi RcSaylors, your channel has been always very valuable for all your subscribers, but now I'd like to say, that with this Follow Up video, you've increased the value of your channel. I think, that the Pro Boat Sonic wake has been from the beginning and still is an excellent choice, but the version 2 comes with so many fantastic upgrades, that it is even a much better choice. Of course, for a bit higher price. But I have to commit, that I would love it very much, if you' would give a sailboat a chance on your channel. There are excellent videos on KZbin available about trimming a sailboat like a Dragon Force 65, so therefore you don't need to be experts about a sailboat, but you could just show your subscribers the relaxing joy of sailing a sailboat. Just for a couple of minutes in the end of a video, where you're showing another boat. Keep producing such excellent videos! With regards, Andreas

Along with removing the batteries and leaving the cover off to allow insides of the boat hull to air dry, I also recommend pulling the prop drive shaft and wiping off any water and grease as well. Allow drive shaft and stuffing tube to dry out before applying new grease and reinstalling shaft. It would also be a good time to spray electrical connections and electronics with a corrosion inhibitor. Then add a drop or two of a good quality machine oil to the front and rear bearings of the motor. These few maintenance procedures will help your rc boat run better and last longer.

Im just amazed the rudder cover didnt come off on the first run..must a been vacuumed on whilst in the water. The fact it was run totally dry and didnt cook any electronics is a testament to ProBoat build quality. The tube on the back of the Eachine boat, for water cooling, is called a ‘Blast pick up’. It is a great system that allows cooling to run, even whilst a low speed and comes from the water coming off the prop, and yes, is enhanced at high speed. Causes some slight drag, but still a reliable system.

No. Cavitation is when low pressure causes the water on the surface of the blades to boil and thus create small steam pockets. What you see here is called ventilation, and is caused by the prop pulling in air from the surface.

Yo best bet for the sonicwake is to get either a dasaboata flex shaft and prop (the stock shaft is very tight fit in the tube and is typically not well balanced and kills alot of the performance) the dasboata is very very slightly smaller and is very well balanced flex shaft and then the prop is made for balance and sharpness and is made by a company to compete in racing so it will get more speed but less run time but with the prop shaft being less friction and better balance that gives you more run time but for you I would just get the stock prop balanced and sharpened that will give you the best of both worlds. Also the best way to run an rc boat for length of run time and also less wear and tear on your boats electronics is to slowly go off the line then when your on plane then open the throttle up for maybe 6p seconds tops short bursts like a drag car run is how you drive a boat like that properly
@thercadventurer44222 жыл бұрын
60 seconds not 6p
@AB-80X2 жыл бұрын
You can get a good one piece prop shaft from OSE, and Doctor Prop makes a CNC stainless prop for the Sonic that runs fast but does not kill the runtime. You have to factor in that most people need the boat to run well and be fun. They are not trying to wring out every single last mph, and they rarely have the knowledge to set it up for that. Heck, even a TFL CNC prop which is pretty cheap will work better than the stock and give longer runtimes. Also, getting an OSE shaft and TFL prop means you don't have to deal with that asshole Dasboata.
