ONE THING!!! With RC Cars, the low voltage cutoff is RIGHT before the cell is about to drop to 3.0-3.2v usually, (per cell ofc) so you guys still ALWAYS want to use one of these because not doing so will 1: Have a chance of harming your bat or ECU and 2: not put it at storage having you to charge it afterwards if you're not gonna use it. Put one on anyways, it will save the life of your car, and it will save your lipos in the long run. Happy bashing

Just found this video! This is awesome. I have two of these gizmos and this video taught me so much. Please continue making these great videos. Love the plain language. I got out of the hobby 20 years ago in the NiCd days and just got back into it 3 years ago and the LiPos scared the hell out of me. Videos like this help me to feel more comfortable in knowing what I'm doing. Thank you so much.

@@TheRcSaylors You made it well and chock full of info. These gauges seem like a silly little thing, but they're really useful and important, and far overlooked by our KZbin community. I'm glad you made it, and I will certainly share it as the definitive video about cell maintenance. So, thanks again! I bought a fresh 5 pack just last week, and I see in the comments that a few other folks did, too lol

Just re-entering RC world. Spent hours digesting info on LiPo batteries charging and storage, when I came across this video. With my new education this video is the most sensible one I've seen on KZbin and explained in a way that ties ALL of my learnings together. You even mention LiPo bags and ammo can although from what I've seen the bags are mostly worthless on their own! I will use a modified toolbox, a skill saw metal box, or a BBQ grill outside, on concrete, for ALL of my charging episodes. AND this little tool will always be within reach, or onboard my airplane. I would be a 3.6v alarmist lol because I might need a little longer to land and later find my self right at a consistent 3.8v storage charge. Thanks for this video and your introduction to the least expensive ESSENTIAL tool I've ever seen! Have a great day.

I ordered mine a couple of weeks ago along with a AeroScout RTF plane and four extra smart batteries. I've been connecting the lipo alarm to the battery before I install it in the plane to check the readings. So far, I haven't flown the plane long enough to have the alarm sound (I've set it at 3.40). It is nice to be able to check the readings on the alarm when I'm finished flying. So far, I've been down to the 3.60 level. I bought the AeroScout RTF after viewing a couple of your videos on it and I've been thrilled with it so far!!!

I fully agree with everything you said on the video, I've been doing as you said for years, I've handed out these to fellow club members to help them save their planes and their batteries, they're also a great tool if the plane goes down in a field, serving as a great locator device once the charge naturally goes down even though it might be that night or the next day. I wrap a thin rubber band around mine to secure them to the balance plug so that it will not dislodge if the plane goes down so that I can find it in a tree or in a field with high wheat, corn or soy.

I had seen these previously on other channels and assumed they were expensive , then you guys mentioned in passing how cheap they are . Bought a pack of 5 for $10 Aus , they work great and even came with understandable instructions . Very helpful in ground vehicles also , as it's easy to just drive until the battery's nearly dead before you notice . The info re voltage level settings was useful to me , thanks very much .

" Nobodys needs a Batterybuzzer! We simply fly(guestimate)the battery level according to the total flight time. that's how we do it since the beginning in the 70s" only a few quotes from my local RCClub. I personally always drive/fly with a battery buzzer. Thank you RCSaylors

Yeah we used to use stone knives too. You got guys that refuse to learn needed skills so they rest on "we used to do it back in......." Same with "smart chargers" for dumb people, some don't know and don't want to know what the values of the battery means. This comes from an attitude of just wanting to have fun and not doing anything that makes them feel uncomfortable. I think it can also be used to locate a lost plane if you shut off the transmitter it beeps.

10:25 If you want to make your batteries last much longer (total lifetime, not use time per charge), never ever charge individual cells above 4.15 V. Also, the lifetime will also improve if you never go below 3.6 V but if you always stay within 3.6 V and 4.15 V to make cells last longer, the Wh per charge you can get from the battery is obviously going to be lower. You get maybe 80% out if you stay within those voltages.
