Just to clarify... The self-discharge feature of the smart batteries is disabled (off) from the factory and requires a smart charger to enable/configure it, right? I believe that is what I heard the Horizon Hobby guys say in one of their videos.

I'm with you on that bottom loading battery access. I've got the Tenacity MT, when you get into the sand or certain dirts, the door gets stuck in the closed position. Aside from that, there's not much to complain about. Thanx for another great video, you two rock 👍👍

Be carful because i think they say when you run 3s to switch the pinion or your putting the electronics at risk thats what they said for the tenecity db pro so watch out

They're fine because their running it on a smooth flat low load serface. However you can't garentee everyone will be that smart and will try and bash their car on 3S with high KV motor and tall gearing/large pinion gear. So to cover their butts they have to tell people they can't run it on 3S with that pinion gear without damage.

andrew mccluskey I can run all my Arrmas and Rustler on 3s all day bashing on any terrain with 0 issues. This vehicle is flawed out the box and most of the Tenacity line if not all of it has been discontinued for a reason. Worst Losi product ever!

@@TheBigToe69 Traxxax and Arrma gear their cars low out of the box, if you want bigger speeds you have to fit the optional pinion, also they too warn not to do too heavy bashing when running a higher tooth pinion. Also 2WD rustlers can get away with it cause they endure far less load being 2WD. It's all about using some common sence and not over gearing you vechile when bashing. It's all about using

Great running losi one fast car running 3 s with stock gear so fast wouldn't have no idea how fast it would be with just the changing the gear like I done on my Traxxas rustler vxl I have it has wheelie bar if not it would be flipping over with out wheelie bar I installed on its super fast changed the gear ratio and it's under real awesome machine with just a few modified things and did not cost much too upgrade the rustler and just wanted you too no I appreciate all the good advice you have given so thanks too you and Abby for everything I appreciate everything you and Abby stand for hope everyone is doing well keep the great work up guys and ladies Mike holden out of North Carolina said that thanks again if not for you all I would have never went as far as I have if not for you all

Can’t tell for sure, but don’t they have the SkyRC GSM-010 unit? If so, the only way to change it to imperial units is via the computer software. The mode button method is for the GSM-015 model. Of course, if they switch to MPH they’ll lose a bit of resolution since, to my knowledge, only whole numbers are displayed. Also - and more to the point - the metric snobs will start a never-ending boo bird parade. 🙄

Yeah, might as well go for the newer (and improved) 015 model unless the 010 is significantly cheaper. 015 version also receives GLONASS signals. I have the 010 model, so I can confirm the mode button trick doesn’t work on it. 🙁

GLONASS is the Russian version of GPS. The advantage of having a GPS device that receives the signals from both of those satellite networks is that it can track its location more precisely, reliably, and quickly than with GPS alone. Just to clarify, the 010 model can be set to display MPH. It's just that you have to use their computer software to do it. 👍

Pixelpeter Research these Losi Tenacity Rc’s and you’ll see they are junk. It’s not that the hobby shops sold out, it’s that they are discontinued because of quality issues with overheating motors, esc, and brittle plastics that break super easy. Worst Losi product ever!

I love that buggy but it sucks u have to change the pinion to go to 3S! I ran a 3S out of the box and diff oil leaked everywhere. But u guys seemed to have run the 3S without changing it 🤔 . It says it in the Manuel I suppose 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hey guys, great video! Question about the batteries. I can charge the spektrum batteries on another charger I assume, will they still discharge on their own without programming them? Should they be left in the charge bag? New to rc and love your channel. Still trying to understand charge rates. Just purchased the htrc c240 charger. Just ordered sho not received yet. Very happy to answer questions, especially like this because it means keeping you safer and your money will go much further with these batteries. You can charge them with ANY Lipo charger 👍 They do still auto discharge (slowly and safely) on their own without the Smart charger, no need for programming. If I were you, I would still store them in a lipo bag or ammo can (cracked lid or drill a hole in it) because it's much better to be safe than sorry. Hope this helps!!! @Joe I believe the guys at Horizon Hobby said the self-discharge function is set to off by default and needs to be turned on using one of the Spektrum chargers. However, I don't have any (yet), so I can't confirm that. By all means, I highly recommend getting a really good charger as soon as possible. You don't want to gamble on one that might abuse your batteries and/or glitch and cause a fire, particularly as you get into larger batteries. Also, if you are paying a premium for Spektrum smart batteries, you'll want to have a Spektrum charger that helps you get the most value out of those batteries. Best of luck to you! 😁👍

For charge rate... With LiPo batteries, it's best to stick with a 1C rate (rate same as the pack's capacity). If you are in a hurry, it is okay to charge up to the charge rate specified on the pack (e.g. 2C). (Note: do not use the discharge rate, which will be much higher!) However, the 1C rate is still preferred for best battery health and longevity, so try to stay with that whenever possible.

Wow that buggy is crazy fast. PS don't be a poor sport. Love your videos guys and gals. Winter is tough. Especially on Plastics. Up here in Massachusetts. The snow banks are great when we get snow. But it's been 50 degrees for the past week. If you can believe it. But it's better to run the cars around the neighborhood on the snow Banks when it's below freezing. You just have to take it easy. Because nothing is wet. Too cold to have water. Much better on electronics and your bearings and everything else. There's a happy medium. Never run your cars below 20 degrees though. Oh yeah and you're going to go through batteries like crazy. Also you are absolutely correct about charging the batteries. I will charge them thinking I'm going to use them tomorrow and then not go for a week. I think I needed that wake-up call I'm putting everything on storage mode as soon as I finish this message to you wonderful people. thank you for your videos you guys do a great job

I'm looking for an awesome buggy and fell in love with this one. It seems like every time I find one i can't go without it gets taken off the market. Love your vids keep up the great content. I also have the db red and white version upgraded the servo to a savox 1258tg, swap plastic parts with the “losi PROformance kit” (actual spelling) change plastic steering to an aluminum steering by exotek. Change the tires to proline trenchers for more grip on the grass, had to dremel inside of the rim to stop it from rubbing against lower arms when turning. Still running stock esc and motor on 3s and this rig pulls on any terrain, soon will be upgrading to a max10 sct esc motor combo.
