I think they should stick to the 12 symbol sets but you do them like girl power with a larger back page section and the back page are all just attuned cards and you can have the attuned cards be symbol identity cards that focus on what that symbol dose and then any of the multi symbol cards just get to incorporate some of those things into a card that way you don't exclude symbols and can still have cards that are focuses on a symbols identity

I left during deckbuilding! When dark tournament dropped I thought I'd play no matter what cuz it's my favorite anime. Looked up some decks and not only could I not understand the goal of deckbuilding the good decks when I looked has multiple singles that cost $40-60 a card. So on par with standard MTG with 1/1000000th of the cards and playerbase. Killed my interest pretty fast but I keep wishing I could get into this game lol

They can just errata cards. They just did with wakamaru even though imo the change needed to be 5 and not 8. Wakamaru Titan will still be a thing though just can't use the secret anymore

I know someone who left at the deck building stage. Deck building can be difficult, sure, but it's so unique in this game that it's hard to imagine people not liking it. If you're truly struggling with building a deck, look at what everyone else is playing and piggyback off of their idea.

My problem is when what "everyone else is playing" is multiple playsets of URs and Rs that I don't have the money to get, so I have to figure it out myself anyway.

Your suggestion of subtracting what each symbol can’t do when designing cards is also problematic for design. It specifically makes it so some symbol combinations just cannot be put together anymore. A card cannot have a “draw a card” identity combined with “cannot add cards.” I already know that I probably won’t invest in the AoT set 1 much beyond maybe a box and a challenger deck. I won’t stop anyone else who wants to go further in, but I won’t lie to anyone who asks why I don’t go as deep.

Relegating sets to support X number of symbols rather than all of them immediately causes the problem Cardfight! Vanguard fixed with its Overdress reboot. Oh this set doesn't contain any Spike Brothers cards? Skip. Oh its Overdress and every set contains each nation? Splendid, product be upon ye. The way Vanguard did it had some drawbacks due to how clans/nations work, but those drawbacks were unique to that game, there's no parallel to current Universus. On a separate note, I disagree with the notion new players are leaving when tasked with building a deck. I myself started playing *relatively* recently, and I've personally gotten three people into the game. Two were coming from playing most other TCGs, one was a tabletop game hater who didn't play any card games. All three of them were receptive to playing it but were clearly hooked when fed the thought of building around a character they liked. There was no griping about too many choices, or confusion over the symbols identity. It was just "I'm playing X character so I'll put a bunch of cards with him/her shown in the art in my deck"; that's how I started too. Perhaps I've lost the plot but it seems like UvS has gone back to back identifying problems that don't exist for reasons I can only chalk up to being boneheaded at best, or intentionally greedy at worst. It's not a good look and certainly doesn't inspire confidence. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

This is the very thing I was hoppeing to not deal with in choosing this game to get into. I am tired of game designers saying: "our players are dumb, stupid, idiots....how do we make our game "easier to play" to accommodate ingrates". I have left too many games in recent years, one in particular I have played for 20years, due to this very reason. Stop dumbing down your game and embrace a game that has depth and options to reward players of all walks. Not every game is for everyone, especially in a saturated market that likely won't see you gaining those "dumb players" anyways. *sigh*

Definitely less is bad then all decks will have to to to many cards to over lap an be like other games like yugi an mtg...we're u will have the same 10 to 15 cards in every deck an loses its identity in the way this game has.
