So where do black women in Miami go? Where do black women and men go in Miami? What places in Miami? Please disregard my question ...you said you all are in your homes. Miami just does not have a real scene of interesting places to go that would really appeal to middle and upper class blacks, so they stay or drive up or move to a nearby city. A while back there was a restaurant called Crescendos and another one I forget the name of it but it was on 22 Ave and maybe 150 street maybe, trying to appeal to the black crowd but they were no shows and these restaurants have closed down. The historically black beach Virginia Key Beach is in the talks of being redeveloped. Not enough support.and it's partly why blacks history to Miami is being erased. Miami is boring.

I was born and raised here. There's a myth that Black Americans, outside of FL, don't think Miami has native Black Americans...however, prior to the mass cuban invasion and government-assisted gentrification of many native Black American Miami neighborhoods, Miami was a Majority 50/50 white/black American city. Mass government-aided and assisted immigrant/cuban gentrification happened heavily in the late 60s and peaked in the late 80s. There is STILL A LOT of Black American/ Native Black Floridian/ FBA or whatever you wanna call us in Miami and in Dade county, in general. A lot of Black American Miamians don't live in ''tourist Miami''. Here's a list of areas in Miami, where you can find a big population of Black Americans from Miami (non immigrants) Little River Opa-Locka Allapattah Brownsville (Brown sub) Goulds Florida City North Miami Miami Gardens Miami Lakes Perrine Overtown Liberty City / Liberty Square area Naranja Leisure City And, Black Americans from Miami are mixed in all throughout the Miami Metro area. Tidari, My comment was deleted before probably because it is for the getting along of blacks. Such a shame since the history of both black men and black women is being eradicated in Miami. For example, an entire beach-Virginia Key Beach in Miami is associated with the social history of the black community of Miami Dade. CURRENTLY the beach is the topic for redevelopment. Redevelopment will erase the black connection to the beach, yet here we are talking about the "extinction of black women" in a community where others* in leadership roles/business owners prefer to hire their own first. *Anyway you can drive up to Miami Gardens, Plantation, Cooper City, Tamarac, Sunrise, West Palm Beach, Deerfield and Delray areas where blacks are and doing well. *You have to join Black social and professional groups and go to their events, not stay at home.

Sweetheart, my advice for you is to consider relocating out of Miami, and South Florida altogether. I've lived here for 7 years and to be completely honest there is no black American professional crowd. I've searched and searched lol. In 7 years I've legitimately cycled through about 3 groups of friends, as people often outgrow the city within 2-3 years and move away lol. Especially those looking to advance in their career, make real money and settle down. If you're looking for something similar to a DC or Atlanta or even Houston/Dallas, that does not exist here. Haitians, Jamaicans and other black Caribbeans are the dominant "black " culture here..so unless you assimilate within their culture, you're an outsider. To the points made in this video, yes, Miami-Dade is predominantly Latin and Spanish is mostly used so you'll want to learn if you haven't. Going further north and west is where you'll see more black Caribbean, but those areas tend to be sketchy sadly due to gentrification. The Black's that could afford to moved away leaving behind everyone else...

The first mass exodus black happened in the 70's & 80's in which a lot of black moved to Broward and WPB Counties. Forward to the early 2000's up until 2019 i which a slew of black neighborhoods were gentrified and most either lost the family hold or just flat out sold and moved to Atlanta. Miami for blacks is an extremely hard city to thrive especially with the massive and continues influx of Cubans whom are forwarded every financial and business opportunity that meets the eye as soon as the step foot in this country. Im not saying all but the majority of hispanics in Miami are extremely racist and get huge pleasure of being first at everything no matter what the cost. If you see any successful blacks in Miami its either they were already established years ago before the housing crunch or they are in the service industry and found there little corner and stuck with it. I have seen millions upon millions of people come here and fumble the bag in almost rapid fashion in which JT Money told everyone years ago" Its A Nice Place To Visit But You Don't Wanna Live Here!!! I mean look at Rick Ross who is almost NEVER in MIAMI. As for the women it appears the what we have been dealing with for years has unfortunately spreaded nationwide (BKA) The City Girls. Soon as you turn on your phone , every chick talks with the rachatt miami project girl accent in which ALL of them now are wearing Lashes , Lace Fronts and skimpy clothes. Miami people usually dress with less clothing being during the summer months you will be drenched in sweat within 5 minutes of walking outside but now it has spread like cancer across the nation and world. Come here , have a great time nd take your azz back to Topeka Kansas bucause trust me this city will eat you alive in a split second. And last but not least get the hell out of the tourist areas and explore other neighborhoods because no two places are the same and believe me when i tell you real Miamians dont go nowhere near Southbeach, Brickell,Wynwood, Design District and Downtown unless its a holiday or family and friends are in town. Welcome To Bottom #305 #PacjamJunkieForLife !!!!

I live in the heart of Miami and you have to go west to the working and unfortunately not so good areas to find black people like opa locka, carolcity/miami gardens and liberty city and even those areas are heavily hispanic now. I grew up in carol city/miami gardens and my old neighborhood was all black and i only remember 2 hispanic families and 1 white family in the entire neighborhood and now that neighborhood is all hispanic, specifically Dominican. You really have to go north to the bice parts of broward county like weston, coral springs, sunrise, pembroke pines, west miramar (not east miramar lol) to see black people that aren’t struggling or ratchet. But all that said its hella money down here and people with money from other places with money come down here so it is motivating and if you network you can easily change your financial situation.

Correction - There are not a lot of Black people living in - Miami. Miami has a lot of Cuban and Hispanic people. Spanish is spoken just as much as - English. Often I'm having to speak Spanish to communicate to others I am engaging with as an African American women. What I like about Miami is that the city does not tolerate drama. The Blacks that come to visit usually end up in South Miami. However, there are other nice places to explore where the people are acting nice. Not all of that mess. I'm a Black women who happens to go to Miami living as a Christian not looking for a man, drugs or drama. I always have a pleasant time because I treat people the way I want to be treated and I mine my own business. That stuff that goes on in places like - Chicago - is not tolerated in - Miami.

Miami has plenty of black people, I believe we are about 15% of the city but it is getting smaller as gentrification worsens. Most of us are immigrants or first generation Americans and aren't in any of the tourist places just as any other Miami native of other races aren't frequenting tourist locations. Some black owned spots where locals frequent that I would suggest you check out if you haven't already are: Playa, Victory Lounge, Smith x Webster (food/lounge spots) just to start. If you're looking for middle/upper middle class group of black ppl as you would find in Atlanta, Dallas and DC you will find pockets of us in the suburbs of Broward, and west palm beach where its much slower and family oriented.

You’re right about Miami’s overall culture being more focused on Latinas. There are some Black local women though but mainly in Miami’s historically Black areas (which are overall getting smaller overtime by the way). Miami’s black community pretty much got ignored in favor of Cuban immigration for decades beginning in the 60s. Miami may eventually become a place only for the rich with only a few poorer sections honestly. It’s already headed there.
