Welcome back to another Paladins video! In this one I play the new champion Azaan while discussing everything that is too strong about this champion. Azaan is power creep incarnate, as he makes almost every tank - point and off - redundant. He has every ability a front line could have, and all his numbers are tuned up far too much. He's too easy, too effective, and not fun to play against. He NEEDS a nerf! Several!

Just remove some substain and Nerf the movement ability... And he Will Be balanced... they can easily do It nerfing some cards.... The brig of paladins are Torvald and talus, they cant be balanced... Infact they had to Nerf torv to death on bot PC and consoles while talus Is useless on PC and the most Op DPS on consoles... Im still waiting for them to understand that they Just Need to rework torv into an healer Just by bringing him down to 2000 hp, his personal shield to 500 and reworking the allies shield into an healing bubble... something like jenos mark... and Nerf his dmg, Then if he needs some more balances they can tune him properly... working on the heals the dmg and the personal shield, For talus they Just Need to rework overcharge into a vertical movement ability while buffing a Little his base dmg, they can easily make him throw a teleporting rune... You mentioned Brigitte when she first launched in Overwatch and yea she was nuts. She was formidable at all the roles. In addition to having damage at close range, hitting enemies set off a Lucio/Grover like aura heal. Her ammo packs healed lost health but on Over-heal would give allies Armor which took half damage from attacks for a time. She also had a stun and mobility with her shield charge (special tricks for flying by shield bashing at sloped objects). Lastly, her shield when held up could absorb a decent chunk of damage. She was pretty bad at launch lol. Azaan reminds me of a mix of Doomfist and Sigma. He reminds me of Doomfist's mobility from using attacking moves to travel instead and high damage from his primary fire. Like Sigma, Azaan is a levitating tank who can cast barriers and establish their presence from a distance whose 2-part ultimate makes them fly and then finish it with damage in an AOE. Hopefully Azaan gets appropriately balanced because he is cool looking.

The thing about brig is that she was one piece of a fun destroying puzzle, she enabled the very powerful tanks and protected other healers. It was awful because tanks and healers made damages obsolete. Brig was just one of the heroes that made that happen, even if she was the best of them. Azaan just breaks the game by himself, no matter what team you put him on.

@octanesbathwatr alacrity is basically auto aim abuse. It used to be way more op before the absolution patch but even after the nerf its still annoying af and borderline op. U basically use the combo which is F+Rmb+Q+F which is almost enuf to delete any low hp flanks and deal a heavy amount of dmg to mid hp champ. The most annoying thing is she can do all of this in quick succession which mean the dmg from that burst combo is hard to mitigate. Highly mobile champs like vatu,Evie,maeves have low hp by default. Thier survivability lies in thier high mobility and heal cards. Lian basically auto aim those champs to death since her auto aim shots also apply weapon effects like caut,life steal etc and the auto aim abilities dont cost u any ammo despite being considered as weapon shots. Also her CD cards used to be the most bs shit u can give to a auto aim champ like lian but they nerfed it down a bit,although its still very very strong. Then we have the Ult. That thing has a hitbox of a truck and refunds u 50% after killing an enemy with it. It also give u 50% DR as well (it used to give u invincibility during the ult but gladly,they nerfed it a long time ago). This is basically why alacrity is annoying and everyone hates it. It abuses the auto aim and none really likes to get killed by something that dosent even require aiming.

Honestly, just because of how he plays, and because I love grover so much, I decided I was going to play this man as soon as I saw his loadout, no matter how bad he would be. But when he finally came out, I legitimately feel bad about playing him because of how stupid powerful he came out to be. I think my second or third game with him I got almost or over 20 kills. He's so easy to just be good at (although I will say I think he has an even high skill cap you can reach). I ended up deciding to not play him for a while until they finally put some nerfs on him so I don't have people complaining every lobby about how they want azaan to be nerfed.

Thank God I've been saying this since he got released but not everyone's voice can be heard. I literally sometimes turn on my PS4 excited to play then turn it right off when I think about the Azaan that will be on the enemy team. Seriously, he has infinite range, the damage of a Damage class, the mobility of a Flank, insane self sustain like he heals way too much that it is impossible to kill him on first 2 rounds when Cauterize is not maxed. He has like 6 busted cards and insane DR on his talents. I mean come on he killed the game for me in 3 days.

Don't forget that Azaan can also combo his ult with the rest of his abilities (if you press E right after you left click and execute the ult, Azaan, after hitting, pulls out his hammer again and skips his frozen stance) So basicslly, you can deal damage with your ult, and keep attacking not even a second later

I'm just gonna say that all of Hi-Rez's games suffer from balance problems. They add new characters that are either overpowered or terrible. They ignore a lot of the older characters too which makes those characters feel stale. It really is a shame because the games I'm talking about (Smite, Paladins, and Rogue Company) all have a ton of potential to skyrocket in popularity the only thing they need to do is just stop adding bloat to the game so they can fix the glitches. If they were to work on the servers and the character balance to make the game more fun for newer players. I liked the games early in their life cycle but I feel that these games decay in value every time they add a new character. It makes balancing really difficult because there are so many characters to keep balanced. Games like Overwatch that have about 30 heroes are a lot easier to level out to a balanced roster.

I think what needs to be changed is: Reduced ire damage reduction to 15%. Remove the damage buff at max ire. Reduce the card that heals you at above ire treshold from 500 to 400. Reduce max health from 4500 to 4000. Remove the cleanse on the dash. Cooldown on the dash should be 10 seconds.

It terrifies me as well. Brig was THE reason I left overwatch. Her terror of reign lasting so damn long and the absolute brain dead ease of her was such a pain that I was simply concluded Blizzard's ow balance team was inept and was what made me switch to Paladins. Pally is still my preferred hero shooter to this day, but worried this game will face plant if they don't take the steps quickly. I can't go through with it again.

I've been playing characters with Insta-kill ults this patch specifically because I anticipate Azaan to be on the enemy team... Even then, his Dash/Ult/DR make Drog/Khan/Zhin Ult not as free. Probably easiest is just waiting for him to dash and pressing Drog Ult. Legit his only counter that I've found😂

I haven't met an azaan that could beat me as vora or saati yet lol so theyve been pretty good counters for me, i do agree he needs a nerf but honestly, just land some headshots as saati and kick him anytime he gets close and he melts so quickly, or as vora i just build a cripple up off him or his walls then cripple him over an over again while doing tons of dots until he dies like i do with raum or makoa, only thing i find he can do to beat me as them is when im not paying attention and he gets those walls up behind me and pins me into them, the stuns to long then and i cant escape but i just watch for it cause i know theyre looking for that wall, dash combo.

Me and my brother found that a combination of Exterminate Furia and Stunnin Visage Corvus works wonders on this man when you have decent Cauterize going. We actually made an Azaan, Yagorath, Tiberius, and Seris rage quit, leaving the IO to fight us and our other teammates alone. Poor girl, she tried.

Not sure what the logic is behind nerfing the healing cards. I would rather see the DR nerfed to 5 or 10%, a slight dmg nerf and a mobility nerf to limit azaans options in battle. I'd also remove his ability to remove caut on his dash. Logic behind this is healing is countered by caut, limiting his movement and his ability to remove caut inherently nerfs these cards without manipulating the healing values themselves.

1000% agree Andrew. Azaan has ruined any and all fun I would have in a match as a tank main. Either you pick Azaan as your tank or you just lose. I am seriously considering going back to the toxic players in ranked just to avoid Azaan for now. *cringe* The man needs some nerfs but EM will likely hit him with nerf hammer so hard that it ruins him. Give him dmg fall off (maybe even nerf his shots by 50 each which also nerfs his life steal some), increase the cooldown on his dash by 2 seconds, and do something about his walls. Being able to destroy them like Inara would be nice but I would honestly prefer him to only have the middle 3 sections rather than 5. The full semi circle is a bit much. Also agree with him not gaining ire from taking dmg or atleast halve the ire gained from taking dmg.

Interesting idea. What if you could only build Ire by getting shot, but high ire makes you take more damage. Essentially a berserker style. Take more damage and do more damage. Then taking damage becomes tactical. Building Ire becomes risky.

Overwatch is my main game. And when brig came out she could stun through shields. Had 250 hp 100 of it being armor. Had a shield that had 5k health. Could give armor to teammates making a 150 health tracer up to 200 and takes 25 percent less damage. BRIG WILL ALWAYS BE BROKEN!!!!!

Yea people think lian is OP when azaan could probably kill lian and her entire team easily. No lian isnt as OP as people think. I mean cooldowns are a thing. Her abilities aren't t up all the time. azaan feels like every category of champion put into one character and he does it very well. he can solo tank or off tank, he can fly across the map better then some flank champs as a tank. let that sink in. A tank that has more mobility then some flank champs. And he can heal himself so much he practically doesn't need a healer. he is a one man team. so i dont wanna hear anymore bitching and moaning when i hear "lian is easy to play" when azaan exists.

Tf are you talking about, Lian literally has a build that gives her 0 cooldown on the slide move. Azaan needs a damage nerf. He isn't even being played as a tank anymore. Like you see in this video people are using him to bomb the backline over and over. And he doesnt even have a pocket healer. Hell, I'd even change it so you can't fly upwards anymore, just straight, so you can only use it for CC. Because the only way you can lose as Azaan right now is if your team is braindead, or if the enemy team has an Azaan that's being pocketed harder than you

Anyone could tell just on paper that Azaan seemed incredibly OP: no fall off/infinite range, insane damage reduction, brainless passive ability build up, etc. That’s all stuff that the devs should be already looking at and testing out before even the private servers roll out.

Azaan doesn't need a nerf, as sometimes the team is fucking worthless, and now there is a tank who can play regardless of a shitty team.

@@2dollarchickenwings689 True, I've only seen US server players complain about this. SEA server players have better adaptability I've seen many people struggling playing as Azaan. And even when I suggest to nerf his DR and some healing cards one DPS main just straight up saying no need to nerf. I'm amazed. (And I still disagree with that player. Azaan need to be tuned-down in his DR and self-healing but nothing else.) Also Azaan have weaknesses. 1.) Cauterize 2.) Players with awareness 3.) Focus fire break him down fast. 4.) His wall is very clunky and slow to pull off. 5.) His DPS is actually bad due to his low firerate. His firerate is 1.1 sec. the same rate as Vatu reload animation. His heavy attack is 1.3 sec even more than some champions reloading time. People just want everything NERFed to become another Torvald while they don't admit they are just did badly.

Azaan's weakness to this day remains punishing him before he generates enough Ire to resist your attacks and heal. Mark Tyra will always be good at this. Doesn't mean he wasn't too strong xD BTW I feel like "have everyone on your team shoot them" isn't a valid suggestion for counterplay. It's like if I said the sun is too bright to see the road while I drive, and as if another person suggested for me to close my eyes. Reduce azaan's base health. A drastic reduction here would take one of the most mobile tanks in the game and make it to where he *has* to be getting his lifesteal and sustain, instead of just having all of that on top of an already tanky body. Another nomination is making it to where, instead of gaining ire for taking damage, he gains ire for being on point. This means he still gets his ire well maintained in exchange for doing his job, but lowers his self sustain when he dives the enemy backline just because he feels like it, as his self sustain is reliant on both lifesteal and ire consumption. Make both of those changes, and azaan is closer to being balanced.

As an imani main I'd solo azaan once support is out of the way. if the team ever has more than one support + azaan just say some prayers before your match. Lmao -i obviously wouldnt confront him where I am easily visible though and I'm always seeking distanced and elevated ground. It's quite impossible if your cooldowns are pending and your hit mark rate isnt high. So I would basically have to dump my whole damn skill tree with max pyro/frost switch on as well that's that emergency shield thingy

Azaan is nuts, I went 39/0 on the second day of his release. I think the devs should address how damn janky he is before they attempt any nerfs. That wall is janky af and his charge is the weirdest shit from the other perspective. Another QOL change would be to let him move in his ult like Corvus. I was on fish market and used my ult by the point but I was blocked by a small sign on a building.

Azaan's ire literally gave him Terminus undying talent without its drawback. He can have 20% dmg reduction just having ire at 100% without having his health to go half and getting ire is braindead, hitting enemies and getting hit is stupid and add to that dmg buff. Also he got Willo's better version of Flutter.

Brigitte was overtuned, and she did break the balance of the game with goats, however she wasn't the type of character that could just 1v9 the entire enemy team. The team comp that was built around brig was oppressive, but brig herself had many counters and wasn't able to dictate the entire match if only she was picked.

I was so hyped the day Azaan came out and i wanted to play him as quickly as possible, and damn he felt so good in first like 5 games, but than i just got bored 'cause literally nobody can beat me 1v1 or even 2v1. My winrate is like 15-2. The game got broken thankfully to him and now i don't really want to play this game at all lol (of course Azaan IS killable, but dude u gotta put way to much effort to kill this guy).

Azaan broke the game for me. Literally. When there are 2 Azaans in the game, my game gets laggy even if I have low ping and high fps. One time I played Azaan and the enemy team had one as well, my walls don't even show up.

Sure, they have to be good but not OP or balance-breaking. Vatu was strong upon release (imo he didn't even need a nerf to his dmg if Vora still has those truck sized projectiles). A very squishy and easy to burst down champ but a pain to deal with if the person playing him has an idea of how to position and how to take people by surprise. Same with Saati. A powerful aim-based character that works like Andro. You can't aim or position well? You won't do much with her! Vatu and Saati are both powerful but they didn't bust the balance of the game. Azaan, on the other hand, managed to do that. I understand wanting your characters to initially be powerful so more people pick them. Ok, fine. But this is ridiculous. Shooting him doesn't even feel satisfying because the dmg you do is akin to tickling him. He has good self-sustain, DR, no dmg fall-off, Kinessa range and the Ire mechanic rewards players for just...playing a FPS. Idk what Hirez was thinking when they actually let this go into the game. Why even have the PTS?

The thing about brig is that her crimes are just being hard to kill, making the backline undriveable, and giving flankers and Reinhardt a bad time. yes she was a key ingredient to the Goats comp but the blame for that isn't her's alone. Brig may have been nigh impossible to 1v1 for most opponent, but Brig can't fly, Brig can't snipe you from half way across the map or in the air, brig can't throw up stationary cover for herself, Brig also can't just descent on your backline on her own terms. She's small pennies compared to Azaan given what i'm seeing in this video. and I can't help but feel like Azaan's design tries super hard to make tanks fun, but sacrifices the game experience for everyone else in the process.

You dont mind reckoning? I would strongly disagree. His cards (which in my opinion are the reason hes op) aside, reckoning is his most dangerous skill, and i do count his ult into this as well. Reckoning can go through walls in every direction. Someone in house under you? Reckoning hits. Drogoz flying above house youre in? Reckong hits.

Brigitta wasn't originally super strong it was only when she was used in conjunction with a very difficult strategy that made her insane because the strategy was impossible without her this being the goats meta where you saw 3 tanks and 3 healers one of course being brigitta. Old ass comment (and I'm not really talking about Azaan specifically) but I never get tired of reminding people that FRONTLINERS, if they're doing their job, almost always have the best damage stats at the end of a game--in every team game with frontliners--literally because it's their job to initiate fights. Their bulkiness also makes them unattractive priority targets meaning they're usually in the fight first, and often they die last. But having lots of total damage done doesn't mean that you have "better dps". Azaan at the time of this video was mega OP, and even at the time of my comment he's still pretty strong. The reason he does so much damage is because his attacks had no falloff (they do now), he's never dead, and he has a dmg boosting passive. All that said he still has objectively worse DPS than damage heros. He has an attack chain that goes 525 > 1.1 seconds > 525 > 1.1 seconds > 630 > 1.3 seconds > repeat. And it does 12% bonus dmg at max ire (used to be 20%), so it was more like 630 > 630 > 750 (which is still way worse DPS than almost every other hero in Paladins lol, he just had too easy of a time doing it whenever and however he wanted, uncontested).
