GG Pete! Regarding the roll at 26:16. That 18 vs 9 was a 97% roll. However defender ONLY loosing 3 troups is about one in 4000, or 0.025% (based on 1 million simulations) Edit: Sorry I made a misstake 🥺. The correct probability is 1 / 740

Is that cumulative probability? That is - is it the probability of the defender losing 3 OR LESS troops in an 18 vs 9?

​@@gunnarandersen6570 I realized I made a blunder. I simulated 18 vs 3, and counted the number of times that attacker lost. Thinking this is equivalent to 18 vs 9 and defender only losing 3. But this is (obviously) not the same since the defender always defends with two dices in the latter case. The correct cumulative probability is: 1350 / 1 M = 1 / 740 = 0.135% This time I simulated a 18 vs 9 roll, and counted the number of outcomes where attacker lost all 18 troups and defender only lost 3 or fewer troups.

I knew of Risk but never played or really even gave it a thought but, since discovering ur videos I've been playing everyday and learning from the best risk teacher imaginable. Thank you Pete. Not only for showcasing this simple yet incredible game to many but also teaching the mechanics and always with a positive attitude and great commentary. (Even if u lose 18 troops to 3 lol)

worth noting for the eventual tier list that this map (and all others under 28 territories) don't have enough cards in the deck for 6 players to hold 5 cards in hand. If you are playing with 6 humans on the board and everyone is slow-rolling their cards, only the first two players get to 5 cards in the rotation on this map. The other 4 players may as well card skip because there's no cards left in the pile. I saw it come up at least once in a tournament setting. Just to be explicit on the math, for 6 players to hold 5 cards, there must be 30 in the deck. Every deck has 2 wild cards, so you have to have at least 28 territories on the map or this strange effect kicks in.

Hello Mr.Peteman, i am just leaving this comment here to say that ive done some calculations and came to a conclusion that the blue kill roll was about a 2.92% chance of losing that roll (im not sure if if im completely right because im not sure exactly how the algorithm for true random dice works but that is what ive been lead to)

11:00 I think this was actually the correct play contrary to your opinion. He only lost 8 troops, got the 4 trade and has the 3 troop per turn bonus while removing a player from his side of the board. Even more so because he broke, if he didn’t break then that would allow blue to get strong quick, so he broke, which puts you at bad ends with blue so it best to kill them before they can set and pummel you. However his kill attempt on red was dumb

honestly, the only mistake was Pete not slidering against the 9 stack, random dice go to 99% so you should put fewer troops in. though it probably wouldn't have made much of a difference with Magenta taking half the board.

I don't think slidering makes much sense in true random. If anything it would give you worse odds since you could be attacking with less than three dice if you loose troups (if it works how I imagine it does)

17 v 4 has a 99.75% chance of occuring 26:45 (I picked 4 because he lost 3 while trowing 2 dice, increasing the ods) 17v9 had a 93.77% chance, so losing that roll is uncommon, but not unthinkable it will happen once about every 20 trows

I like the strategy of Risk. I don't get a kick out of ogling super-unlikely dice rolls. Thanks for confirming this map is not for me on any settings. I guess that people who play a ton of games each day love the variety of dumb settings and either don't care about rank or like the "challenge" of climbing back up after losing 2000 points in one game due to circumstances beyond their control.
