Hi Nat and Camila, great vlog as always. The children are so cute and I love the way that they are now constructing sentences. They both play so well and are very happy and well brought up children, for which I congratulate you both. Take no notice of the idiots who think they know everything about bringing up children in Thailand. You are the parents and you will decide how the future of your children will be shaped. Yes rice harvesting around us has started. However, the farmers near us harvest most of it by hand, as indeed we did last year, and boy, is it hard work! We didn't grow any this year as I worked out that it was cheaper and easier to buy it direct from the farmer than to grow it ourselves! On he subject of the combine harvester, if you think that the one you showed is big, you have clearly never witnessed the whet and barley harvest season in East Anglia, where the combines are at least four times the size! However the little ones they use here are just right for the size of the fields that they harvest. My wife tells me that there are not nearly as many crabs and fish left in the fields after harvest as the amount of fertiliser and pesticides used these day kills he off, and those that survive are probably dangerous to eat. Yes do take a train ride, it is quite an experience. I travelled from Khon Kaen to Udon Thani on the slow train a couple of weeks ago. It took 2 hours but the route that the track takes gives another perspective to the beautiful countryside, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Anyway thanks for sharing, God bless you and protect you all. 😀❤🙏

This was another eye-opening video, I bought rice last week on 'special', $AUD15, (400 baht) for 5 kg, product of Thailand how sweet it would be if that could be paid to the farmers directly, it's pretty much the same here for any farmed products, the farmers get a pittance for their beef and the price in the supermarkets now is so high that they have security tags on the packaging. I have 3 quick questions (not related to your children speaking Thai 🤣) how long does the rice stay on the road?, what happens if it rains? and why didn't you go into the 'blue tarp' business
@Dana-ie2bh23 күн бұрын
How much do you figure a semi-truck and driver costs? How much do you think a giant harbor for ships in Bangkok costs, and the wages paid to administrate and maintain it? How much does a bulk carrying ship cost? the fuel? the crew with training to man it? Most famers are common laborers. Very few laborers anywhere, especially in developing nations make more than a pittance. At least Thailand is on the right track, they have built a lot of trade schools. An HVAC technician probably makes twice what a farmhand makes.
@NativeFarang23 күн бұрын
I'm not sure how long the rice stays out to be honest, I think it varies and is weather dependent, but around a week or so I would say! The Thais are good at knowing when the rain is coming so they have it covered up beforehand! And I should've, that would've been guaranteed sales this time of the year 😅🤣 P.s Thank you for not including a question regarding education haha. Thanks for watching 🙏

@Dana-ie2bh23 күн бұрын
@@NativeFarang Pretty vague assertion. Some farmers are very wealthy. Some farmers don't work hard, their employees do.
@NativeFarang23 күн бұрын
Very vague indeed, the majority is poor and very few are rich. When you mention the majority you have to use vague phrases as the rich are few and far between.
@Dana-ie2bh23 күн бұрын
@@NativeFarang It's all relative. Poor compared to what? Compared to 50 years ago? 100 years ago? Why education is important. One might still be poor, but education offers more opportunity to move up economically. Low skilled and low education levels don't translate well in any modern marketplace. One doesn't have to be highly educated by the state to pay attention to supply and demand though. Is there a demand for a British style Fish and Chips shop in Surin? No, but there will be, and it will pay better than being a farmhand. All those Brits saying they want to move to Isaan, there WILL BE a demand for Fish and Chips.
@NativeFarang23 күн бұрын
Education is also relative, can Microsoft CEO grow rice better than these Thai farmers? I doubt it, But Thai farmers can't code software... Who would you say is more educated? Everything is relative in this world 🤷🏼♂️

Why do your children not speak Thai?
@camilah172726 күн бұрын
Because they are 2 and 3 years old, they barely speak English. Give them a chance. Children learn at their own pace, they will hopefully be in school next year. Will that please you?
@archiebald471726 күн бұрын
@@camilah1727 Children are well able to learn two languages at the same time. Since you live in Thailand, English is a foreign language. Thai is the priority. Their school experience will be much easier if they already speak Thai. Their teachers and classmates will certainly not be proficient in English.
@NativeFarang26 күн бұрын
