You hit the nail and it's something I've said many times to people, whenever devs show us some gameplay of a game that's a year or two away people will judge it as being representative of the finished product, even though there's giant letters in the bottom saying its early development. I don't know if the ratio of stupid people is just that much higher than I thought or if people just love to be critical. If the game is from a first party studio, forget about it, it's 10 times worse once the fanboys join in. Ultimately this is why devs show us cinematic trailers only and if I was the director I wouldn't show us anything either unless the game was fit for release.

Developers are going for AAA blockbuster titles because that what gamers keep asking for. Jeremy people clowned Evil West online so we can't be surprised that devs go and aim for AAA blockbusters. When people say these non blockbuster games don't interest them and look bad. it's gamers in general. They say they want these things, but their actions speak differently. Yeah announcing a game too soon is bad idea if it's going to take 5 or 8+ years to drop. Because it'll lead to some of us gamers to grow impatient and asking when the game will drop. And that'll also lead to some of these studios and developers to try to rush the development process which will lead to their downfall. So I think that the best solution is to not show any kind of early content until the game is completely ready in the next 2 or 3 years. Showing off the game too early and then going absolutely dark afterwards is just a bad idea.

Idk why they haven’t made a sequel to future solider in some capacity, cud be a brand new story but everyone loved the mechanics of that, if they just made something like that but with todays technology they really would’ve been able to focus on the ai and squads abilities a lot more, maybe some destruction the customization in that game was insane too so if they continued with that, then bring in Jon berthenal and have a focused game, and the mp wasn’t bad, they could’ve done a lot with that had they not chosen the open world path, and then splinter cell spies vs mercs on blacklist was sooo underrated, another one I wish Ubisoft continued making.

look at Metroid prime 4. The game was announced 6 years ago and we still never even saw gameplay.

Hey, I just followed you in the past week after all of the red fall videos… I really enjoy your sense of humor and your content… i’ve had trouble enjoying most video games lately, other than anything made by from software… the only game I’ve actually enjoyed from start to finish was Ghost of Tsushima… I also got into Diablo 4 open beta but found it a little bit repetitive over time … are there any good 3rd person adventure/action/rpg games that you would recommend?

I'm assuming you're on ps5? You could play god of war ragnarok, kena bridge of spirits, returnal, ratchet and clank a rift apart, miles morales, hades (great indie title) just to name a few

Do you think insomniac games are handling this well, gamer2323?
@TheGamer2323 Жыл бұрын
Insomniac is one of the best devs in the game to me if not THE BEST. They'll announce/reveal a game 2 years later most likely it comes out and its always a quality product. Not very often do they have a lot of game delays either. Truly *THE GOATS*

@TheGamer2323 Exactly what i've been thinking! Spider-Man 2 must have been in development around 2019, but afterward, they've released two games that were good. In 2021, they gave us a 2023 release for Spider-Man 2 and still confirmed that the date has never changed... they've just been silent and dedicated to making this gigantic sequel! I honestly don't know if the leak for Wolverine on releasing next year is possible, but if it actually DOES. Yeah... *That'll be a legendary moment to witness.*

When I think of things being announced too early, FFXIII is the first one that jumps to mind. That game punk'd us so hard and made us wait so long. imo it basically had Colonial Marines level of bull-shots when it came to the combat in the first trailer. The way they cut it made it look like you could string together a bunch of cool animations from the main character to keep taking out enemy after enemy in badass ways. Too good to be true in the end.

Ngl, I want AAA blockbuster games. That is what I want and Im not gonna be ashamed of it. The issue is that the companies feel like they don’t have to innovate. It’s not even just Ubisoft. It’s a lot of these titles even good ones like spider man. The game was not innovative in its open world. If you think about the idea of an open world it sounds so ambitious like you can do whatever you want but then when you actually play it seems so limited. I want them to stop with the formulaic gameplay and start adding more interesting activities in the open worlds. Red Dead Redemption 2 was the closest we got to something like that but I want more games that take an open world approach like that. Where it feels like you’re actually involved in the world and not just completing tasks left and right for random npc’s that got their cat stuck in a tree or some other bs. Idc how early or late the game comes we just need better quality. We’re playing video games yet it feels like we’re doing chores instead of living a fantasy.

I agree wholeheartedly. It is why I'm excited for Zelda TotK. It feels like an actual leap in open world design. I also like AA games like Hi-Fi Rush and Sifu because at least they are somewhat different with some great polish and presentation. I have been hoping for advancements in physics, interactivity, AI, and new gameplay ideas.

I think youre conflating a few things. For one thing, the AAA "blockbuster" releases are not the games with microtransactions or battle passes, at least not if youre talking about anything but COD. Second, this idea of "AA" games is a relatively new one. All of the significant titles from the 90s onwards were AAA at the time. They were at the height of what gaming could produce in at least one aspect. Were they all equally on the cutting edge? No. There was a clear hierarchy then as there is now. But they were still AAA. The "non-open world 70-80 metacritic game" that isn't from ND, but also isnt from a 15 person studio still exists. Metro, Dying Light, Dead Island 2 and Atomic Heart just came out last month and are doing well enough in sales. As for announcement-release wait times, there's no way to solve the issue. As seen with PlayStation's quietness, people don't actually appreciate it that much. And it's not limited to AAA - just yesterday, Hollow Knight 2 got delayed again. First game came out in 2017?

Personally, for me, I have no problem with the game being delayed but if you have to delay three times and over than somebody’s lollygagging around the workplace or you’re just playing with peoples emotions it’s like you said when they delayed uncharted four cause you said at that point they are playing with a brother’s emotions and yes it is really annoying when they announce a game that’s not gonna come out anytime soon like when it’s three or four years off. Anyways, going back to delays. If it’s going to come out on that date and you delay fine if he’s going to come out on the second day and you delay, that’s fine as well but on the third date you got to take it with a grain of salt cause they’re come to a point where you don’t take these people seriously, no more. You have to have that mindset that hey you shouldn’t put out a release date to the game if you’re not sure it’s ready yet. Don’t wait till we’re close to that date only to delay it because that in my opinion is fucked up.

i'm not a big movie person, but the logic almost equally applies. If you want to make a blockbuster movie/game, you best have the talent, finance, and more ready. movies probably definitively cost more than games, and yet games profit more. I think, Avatar being the best example as one of the top costly movies to make, and I think pirates of the carribean is up there, they're around between or over the costs of literally GTA 6..... (1 bil), 500+ mil for GTA 5. I can't say what's harder to make, movies can try over and over their act roles but problem solving is more of a thing in game production... oftentimes glitches and bugs can either never be fixed unless they remove a feature they don't want to get rid of, or they just simply don't know how. So yeah, they do overdo their projects and ubi is a good example. Wildlands was a pretty emptyish open world, it was alright, breakpoint little bit of that was lame, my only favorite ubi games are Rainbow 6 siege and Rayman series, I would've liked Assassins creed if they hadn't Call of Dutied it. (CoDing a game means yearly releases) it's unfortunate people gotta wait for delays and complain of no delay, I think a good solution for this is support more backwards compatability for cheap/free. while waiting on big new titles, people should give less a damn for the super grand until they're out, maybe work on more smaller projects, AAA rarely ever consider side scrollers n more simple anymore. But if they support more older games & even give them achievements, that'd be cool. One example i'd like to see is the original RE2 "ultimate edition" with achievements on steam... the remake didn't do much for me, made me prefer to do achievements on the original if it had any.

There's a sensitive sweet spot between delays and timely releases that we're just never gonna hit. If a game is delayed too long, studios risk losing audience interest plus investors aren't too happy with it but it'll more than likely be a finished product. If a game comes out too early, you might get broken and buggy releases but the highest audience retention and happy investors. A delay isn't universally the answer for every studio but it definitely is preferable. Another thing, studios should at MINIMUM only ever reveal games a year before hand. Knowing a game is coming out like 2 or more years from now is like useless information in my head because of course something is coming out by then. It's not like the studio wants to die. But obviously the main reason for these types of teasers is for the sake of attracting talent to help with development, not really to garner an audience.

Spot on! These developers be having a story board & a vertical slice of the game to get consumers hyped. Then give us a promise date of like 2 years. When haven’t even really started developing the actual game, RIDICULOUS

This is a common issue. My biggest issue is that games are releasing in Buggy azz States. I wouldn't mind waiting if the games released in great conditions but, If you have to wait a year to many years and games still are Buggy as hell on release. That just makes it that much worse.

Idk if its just me getting older, but im honestly burnt of playing MP games since damn near every game has SBMM of some sorts, that i just wanna play morr single player type of games to just chillax and enjoy the experience. The Xbox 360/PS3 era was when gaming was at its peak.
