Right now, millions of mice, rats, rabbits, primates, cats, dogs, and other animals are locked inside cages in laboratories across the country. They languish in pain, ache with loneliness, and are deprived of everything that’s natural and important to them. After enduring lives of pain, loneliness, and terror, almost all of them will be killed.Most experiments on animals are not relevant to human health, they do not contribute meaningfully to medical advances, and many are undertaken simply out of curiosity and do not even pretend to hold promise for curing illnesses. The only reason people are under the misconception that these experiments help humans is because the media, experimenters, universities, and lobbying groups exaggerate the potential they have to lead to new cures and the role they’ve played in past medical advance

I think what he was saying is that altering a gene in worms led to longer aging and that could potentially work in humans but since worms are more genetically distant I wouldn't get your hopes up. Even if we have the exact same gene that was altered it may not work the same in us as it does in worms.

Too much fixation on age is a bad idea. One should not be afraid of death, it still is natural to die. But one should be afraid of bad health and illnesses. Bad health give a low quality of life. The thing is to have a good life quality while you are alive. If it’s 50 years or 100 years is not relevant if you are in pain and visiting doctors giving your hard earned money to big pharma for 50 years. Life quality is not eating tasty foods and dinking alcohol or at least shouldn’t be. It being outdoors in nature alone or together with people who are your friends.

Isn't assessing the speed of aging with model organisms an important part of the research on aging? A lot of supplements claim to have tremendous benefits on health despite being tested with mice only. I would say it's to remind us how a lot of the research is done and that humans aren't giant rodents.
@manubhatt3Ай бұрын
@@hornsteinhof7592 It would have been relevant if some relevant researches were mentioned. Animal studies don't apply to humans - this isn't exactly some new knowledge for most.

@@manubhatt3 The studies appear in the screen. I respectfully disagree with your conclusion. A lot of persons, maybe most of them don't know or don't want to know that animal studies don't easily translate to human results. QUESTION 1 - Please can you discuss C15:0 . . . is this beneficial for increased healthspan in humans (appears to help with dolphins) -- MANY THANKS C:15 is available in certain types of cheese (15gm / day) -- experimenting on myself to see if it makes any difference. For instance - walking up a local hill briskly to see how far I get before struggling - using this as an approximate fitness indication !

If you do not slow the loss of fast motor units, I don't care what diet you eat, what supplement you take, what longevity book you read, what medication you take, etc., you're not going anywhere. With all due respect to this doctor here, he is absolutely too late to save his motor units since once you lose them they are gone forever, the stuff you wrote in your book is meaningless. NO MOTOR UNITS----you age like an ordinary person---frail, on meds, and with the function of an old man. Meanwhile, this doctor has absolutely no idea what fast motor units are . KEEP ON LISTENING TO THIS BALDERDASH. Simply unbelievable at the complete ignorance of most longevity experts!!!!

There is a differing opinion on the origins of species.......I have hard time accepting that we evolved from mice over 75 million years ago.....LOL! but I suppose, my disbelief in that idea is met with a similar disbelief that most life was created individually, but based pretty on the same genetic script and sure, there is some natural selection that goes on over time, but nothing to the extent in which an entirely new species evolves from it......the idea we also come from apes is laughable yet again because of the complexity of our voice box compared to their's .....anyway, the moral dilemma of using animals to experiment on is troubling at times, but what we learn from it can be for the greater good.....but sadly for the greater evil as well. My daughter kills hundreds of mice in the name of ovarian cancer immunotherapy research.....perhaps, one day they will develop a cure and no longer need to kills so many mice.....keep in mind, these mice are specially bred for these experiments and really have no sense of ever being a wild animal sadly........
