I remember how ash said he was disappointed after ravi compared him and kuldeep. I also remember ravi responding to it saying that it made ash better. Ego clashes and small fights are common in any sport. Bhajji once openly criticized indian team selectors for dropping him instead for ash. We also heard of laxman Sivaramakrishnan criticizing ash. But what makes ash a legend and a gentleman is that he is able to forget and move on rather than keep grudge on those who criticize him. Madly love and respect you brother Ash ❤🎉

There's a massive difference between Shastri, Bhajji and Siva here. Shastri criticised Ashwin to motivate him and encourage Kuldeep. I'm not saying I would have done that (I wouldn't!) but I can understand the logic. Bhajji was on the decline and he was dropped, so it is understandable that he would make comments like that out of frustration and disappointment. Sivaramakrishnan, on the other hand... just a butthurt loser that didn't make the most of his own career and exists now only to make provocative statements and have his name in the media.

Thanks for this, Ashwin. Good stuff. Ravi Bhai played a key role indirectly though in me getting my first job as a Sub Editor in a cricket website right after my Engineering in 2000. He has a great cricketing brain. The clincher in my interview was “Who you think should have captained India a lot more than the did” I said Ravi Shastri as he has a great cricketing brain. The interviewer agreed and offered me my job. That set the stage for me to sub edit and also be a ghost writer for many Cricketing greats.

I am a great fan of Ravi Sastri and Sanjay Manjrekar commentary. These two taught me English in late 90s and early 2000s. Without that I might have not cracked some interviews early in my career. I am sure I am not alone in this.

I met Ravi Shastri at the Chandigarh airport in 2017. There was a huge IPL contingent traveling toward Bangalore that day. Ravi was a bit hungover and looked quite angry, but he was absolutely accommodating with the fans, especially the young ones. He patiently posed for pics and signed autographs without a single grumble. My respect for the man increased a lot that day. On the other hand, L Siva was an absolute jerk to fans.

Fantastic commentator. I've seen many Indian commentators completely change their tone and demeanour when India begins to lose in a game (still the case) except Ravi Shastri. He's able to maintain the same intensity and flip the praise to the opposition than just complain against India.
