Same here, but I still build a defense for Battlefield. Luckily my alliance is very small and I'm the biggest keep at 650m power k34. This means we usually have 4-5 players and get matched against other teams where I can mop the floor with them, or we're against a single 1.5b player k36. (We won't talk about the time we were against a 1.5b player and 21 small bots in BoC) I do consider building my defense for SVS to get my wings, but without paying money and being in a small alliance, growth is slow so by the time I can build today's best defense, it will be inadequate for svs.

My server is having a hard time understanding that bubbling is part of defense, complain about legal hits during ke, and complain about why do players hit multiple times and zero them. I guess in war, you're supposed to be considerate of your target, send rubber bullets, and then turn around , go home, and offer first aid afterwards.

Aka, you make me feel smart. My defense is very similar to yours. I had dewey but switched to Marshall once i had enough copies to fully ascend. I also use Leo III. I have more t1s then you, but i build both ground and mount. I sat unbubbled for 2 hours during svs. Plenty of scouts but no hits. I'm k39 right now. I've been the alliance punching bag since k33. Big embassy for lots of reins. You are spot on about buffs/debuffs. I build to be well rounded also. Thanks for all the great information in this and all your videos. A good defense is one that results in no flames and a positive power/point exchange.

Same here. I'm only k34 660m power and don't do svs, but building defense for Battlefield. My alliance is small, and we usually have only 4-5 players in a battlefield, and I'm usually the biggest keep. I started building T1 ground because at my level and opponent level, I'm almost always being hit by ranged. I think I've been against only one other player in the last year who had well rounded attack marches of all types. At this level I don't think I have to go much beyond 10 or 20m T1 to be effective. The enemy march sizes are 1.5-2m troops at most and I'm too mobile to get rallied. My defenses are nearly always points positive unless I didn't have time to ghost t13 mounted and they get wiped out.

In my humble opinion, all of those defenses were good. As a K35, I took a powerful hit from a K40 and won. Research, buffs and debuffs can humiliate some of the strongest keeps. A good defense (to me) is when a bigger solo attacker loses more troops & power than the defender. Naturally, T16's change the outcome significantly 😂. Great one, Aka! #253.

So much to unpack but all true. I am a much smaller keep under 400M but K36 Monarch 37. I have been running Dewey and Taylor until recently getting LEO. I swapped from trying to grow to building out all the specialty duty generals. My personal order of precedence is Toyotomi (ascend to 3 stars) Ban Cho( Ascend to 2 stars) and John or Portugal (Ascended to 1). I personally despise the t1 wall simple because many players just hide behind it and are okay spending 500$ svs to revive 10B t1s and have crap buffs. Similar to yours I am building my defense to support my attack troops. I have a total of 4m troops which 2M is to fill my hospital. I am currently running % debuffs as I am just getting into t14s but on the side building armor with flats for the eventual change. As always, great video and thanks for sharing.

Great content as usual. You bring up an interesting point when it comes to working with what you own. How many of us have acquired the "next best," in whatever category? I have returned to play, please don't ask me why, and it is the same story all over again. The mad rush to get to the next level, the what is the best General et cetera, et cetera. What is a "good" Defense? I believe it is one that opponents have to adjust their attack in order to be successful. Opponents get lazy, they see a low level Keep and simply attack. Not even expecting any sort of losses. A "good" Defense is one that can take a hit and get back up to do it all over again. None, of the "oh I am attacked again, it is going to cost me so much to rebuild and retool."

I got the Koryo chest piece from alliance boss rewards ( the box where we get a random civ gear piece). so you might get that from there. for me a good defense is when I can take a hit from those huge guys. But also it needs to be considered wether we coin (have civ gear) or are f2p. I only got yesterday 1 Koryo chest gear from alliance boss and not sure if I should break the parthian set debuff for that piece. So for now t1 seems to be the only option for me edit: your defense is a goal! amazing work there!

I think a good defense is mainly being up to par on being able to be transparent enough, to know your weaknesses up front. What march size you can be hit by if its a solo, or a rally more so often than not there's been countless times i see people that have absolutely no clue at what their troops are doing offensive but also defensively. Study reports look at the numbers not only the exchange but knowing up front your overall cost of healing may be in scenarios which require you to have a good defense mechanically to which you are in tune with. Mindset is a very good determination of defense to say the least. Build upon what you've taken in via feedback reports and other things. Whether its good or not good.

What's your skill books on Dewey and Leo III? That is also a big factor. I use dewy and Leonidas with similar set up as you as a k38. But I want to use Leo III as assistant, I have ranged books on dewey with seige ranged bonus and 5th skill iron curtain.

I waited for your video when i watched the live wirh Mr Yours 😅. But i think a good defense is determined by the amount of troops you either lose or dont. Ive geared my defense to use mostly siege, ground and meat wall. So i can take a hit from a K39 and down rally or not just fine. K40s i can take a hit but usually it hurts. BUT surviving that i count as a win lol. So winning the lost power is a good sign. I will also load on t12s. They do kill a lot. Also it takes research, champions, art hall, civ treasure, blazons, sub gens and much much more to get the right buffs and debuffs. Im happy with my defense and most hesitate so unless my opponent is a whale i dont get tried often.

The question should be what can we do moving forward to defend against k45 buffs 4500 everyone knows not many can survive not even k42 if your facing players like neo that should be the real question not what I think there was t-1 trap now we need to find a similar solution to defend against k45 90 percent of players in evony can’t defend against a player like that what’s the point of asking yourself this question when everyone knows if you face a player like that obviously you will find out the hard way and loose your progress in the game

Before you face Neo you'll probably have to face a few rallies, which will bring more troops if not t16. So to prepare for bigger solos, maybe practice with smaller rallies?

That depends on what you consider as "good rallies". I've shown some reports in the videos and I'm happy with my defense 😇 As for not splitting flat refines between 2 types of troops, that's really up to you. One thing I've noticed is that most of the people that say that have never actually tested having refines for 2 types of troops. Again, it's not just about the t1s. You have be build a good keep as a whole 👍

AS a new player what would you say is the priority to build first, attack or defense? I havent started building any marches yet. I noticed your dewey has a r4 ascension and 4 civ gear pieces! is he your most powerful general?

I guess it would depends on how much time and money you plan on investing into the game. If you don't spend much, I'd say focus more, like 70% - 30%, on defense than attack. If you plan on spending quite a bit, then flip it around and focus more on attack 👍 Devey is one of my main generals, and he is close to being the strongest general I have. 😊

My idea of defense is every bit of research possible achemedia gear on my subs and when it comes to troops I wish I could build what I call a pyramid defense 100 million T1s of all 4 types 90 million T2s 80 million T3s taking off 10 million at each higher level until you get to T10s at 10 million troops. Now I only recently got back in the game and started trying to build a keep so my keep is now K33 and 1 Billion power and I will probably never manage to have a keep like I would want but I think it should work pretty well I would think.

I guess that would depend on the tiles you sent them to. If you sent them to a food tile, then Gaius’s buff wouldn’t work 😅 His buff should work on ore, lumber and stone tiles 👌 To test it out, when you want to send a march out, have just QJ as the main general and check the gathering time. Then add Gaius as the assistant and check the gathering time again. It should reduce 👌

@RedEvony I have question: I have quite solid mounted t1 defense with relatively high number of high tier siege. Its working well in battlefield situation, but during svs i am often hit with siege march which clear high tier siege. As low coiner i dont have enough SoLs to revive all of them without spending cash or wasting hardly collected gems. I know i should ghost them fast but then i am more vulnerable for rallies which will make me zero. Therefore i want to dismiss my high level siege and produce more mounted t1s. Is it good idea in your opinion?

That's a valid question. To give you a simple answer, I think it would achieve the same results as ghosting your siege. Whether you dismiss your siege or not, the main thing is to make sure they are not in your keep when you are attacked. Also, if you dismiss your siege, you would still have that problem you mentioned about being vulnerable to rallies. My suggestion would be to keep the siege you currently have, don't build any more siege, and continue to grow your keep. If that means building more T1s, then that's cool. Don't want you to waste the rss you spent building those siege. Whenever you get into PvP, just remember to ghost your siege 😉👍

I don’t have any skins, so I can’t say 100%, but what I’ve heard is that once you are using a skin, the buff is active irrespective of whether you are using the general or now 🙂

You forgot to show your dragon refines too! I have Dewey with Godzilla and Leonidas assist because at my level (k34 660m power) I'm always being hit by ranged in Battlefield. Other players rarely have a siege march of any note, and their buffs are from 700% to 1200% at most. It works well as long as I have time to ghost my t13 mounted before being hit. I have a mix of T1's mounted and ground too, but I think I won't have to go much over 10m to 20m of them to be effective at this level. (Not in SVS obviously)

You didn't talk about your dragon for defense. What kind of refines do you have for your Thebes ? Siege solo has been a problem for me against those with crazy buff

I did show my dragon. Check the part where I just finished talking about my wall general 😉 As for siege, the best things you can do are to raise your siege buffs (and debuffs, esp siege HP), or to ghost your siege. That’s pretty much it 😇

Does Thebes have same flat refines for ground and mounted too. I can't see your Thebes refines here. Maybe I am missing it over and over again.

Aka hi. Why do you prioritize ground troops in refines over siege or range? No one is gonna come with an opening attack with mounted, bu even if they do your siege arch and partularly t1 mounted will wipe them out. So if you go to your reports that you showed and see the details, how much of that defense was won by the ground troops, probably that would give a better understanding of why so much attention on ground refines. 😅😅me a ghost player I'm k36 530M power no t1s they are expensive in this fking lagging game i had 150m t1s i lost in one svs by lagging i was very low in source of life so I'm back to ghost game i take attacks with 2.5M march size & the buffs inbetween 1500% 😊 im happy with ghost game. Just going full t1 t2 is giving point for snall pow if your pow like 10b over build t2 cuz their heavier than t1 only if you take rally with big pow under 5 7b only t1

Well I'm an all rounder 100m minimum t1 each tier type, 20m+T2 each type, and 5m each tier and troop type up to t14s k39

I'd say Lionheart best primary all troops spicifed wall gen, numers don't lie. Ofc not taking Takenaka in consideration for that, hard to get him

A good defense is the amount of wounded and power loss. The power exchange may be close. But if the wounded is less than the other, then that’s a win.

That's interesting. People usually focus on the power exchange, but looking at the amount of wounded is an interesting way to go 🙂

@@RedEvony so all the power loss shows is how much your top layer got hurt. It’s sad, but defensively shows how effective your troop layers are at stopping or slowing down the enemy

Troops type means more than a report. Obviously you don't have much siege so siege rally probably gonna go well. Ground hit you probably don't have alot ground. Take a good archer rally if want talk defense.

Got a k44 on my server that either two taps t1 traps or goes even with 3500 buffs and 8m march size, its possible to win the defense exchange still depending on how you view it. Either way you t1 traps defend better than i do with 2300 buffs 😂

For a good defense i think so not only T1 are important but if you say i built so many number of T1 now I'm invincible that's not true cause if you don't have troops of all other tiers then how you defend some people like that one from my server who zero you they zeroed all troops (I'm for server 1223) SO, MY THINKING IS A GOOD DEFENSE CAN'T BE ONLY THAT TIER TROOPS YOU MAY HAVE HIGHEST A GOOD DEFENSE IS HAVING ALL TIER TROOPS IN A CERTAIN NUMBER SO THAT YOU CAN SURVIVE AN ATTACK

You want flats mostly because the are doing a great job buffing your layers. For t14 a maxed flat refine is ~60% of the value of the 30% refine. So if you are fully debuffed its all the same for the higher tiers, if you are not...the difference probably wouldnt matter anyway but your lower tiers will be way stronger in any case. The mixed t1 walls...it means that you have 2 not well buffed walls.For a bigger player I would say just switch to grounds. Also...stop being a trap keep and build some attacking troops man😄 you have no more than 2 marches per a troop type. For debuffs, dont underestimate the hp/defense debuffs. Nero is a good option and relatively easy to ascend.

Hello Aka! Huge fan, thank you for all the advice. I have a question regarding in city layer size. You go for 2M each from T4 to T10. I am K38 and have a similar setup to yours but my layers are smaller. Since we are using flat buffs to buff the T1, doesnt that make for weak layers? I fear making 2M big layers will just result in giving more points away since they are basically unbuffed (aside from research and duty officers) and will be killed easily. What's the reasoning behind the big layers? Thank you!

Hi 👋 and thank you ☺🙏 If you are going for an all round setup and not a trap keep, then you will need to build your layers up as you get bigger. So building those layers will be important. As for the refines and buffs, even if you go with flats, it will still buff all your layers, not just your T1s. So that's perfectly fine. It will depend on the troop type(s) you focused on during your refining. If you have all mounted flat refines for example, they will buff all your mounted layers, So you don't need to worry about that 😉👌 If you haven't seen it, check out my video where I compare flats vs percentages. You will see clearly there how the flats work for buffing all your layers 👍

I’m not a coiner I don’t coin at all and I’m not in a big alliance so red blood is very very difficult for me to get and gems is also difficult to get as I prefer to make attacks than defense but my defense are built on % with 50t1 trying to get it to 150 and after watching your video I feel like quitting the game cause there’s no way doing what you did considering all I’ve said 🤦‍♂️

I think a good defense, with a low strength castle, I can survive a 2 hour attack from a high strength castle without healing.
